I stopped reading at the first line.

Again. Pressing. Spacebar. And. Clicking. A. Crosshair. On. Some. Pixels. Then. Falling. Behind. A. Rock. Is. NOT. Skillful™.

In the interests of fairness, it kinda is a skill, especially if the pixels are kinda small, and you want to hit specific ones.

The problem is the risk/reward scale is a bit unfair in favor of the poptarts which needs fixing.

The proposed nerfs will make it require skill to do

Adding randomness is not the same as adding a mechanic that rewards skilled play. Screen shake is just a form of RNG.

and more skill gets nerfed into the ground. How about everyone should accept the fact that poptarts, took skill to use. Remember you need to LEAD the target, WHILE YOU ARE MOVING also. It is not point 'n shoot and kill, since all the "poptart" mechs can only carry limited weaponry, and are not massive boats of any one kind of gun (and 4 of one type is borderline "boat" but is not uber op).

People were saying poptarting wouldn't happen unless 3PV came, and it would be the apocalypses of MW4 all over again, QQ, QQ. Why now is it such an issue? In CB we had only 2 JJ mechs, and the heavy (cat) could easily "poptart" with twin PPC AND LRM's. However back in those days (ya like it was ages ago, not like 6 months) LRM's were something to be feared, and getting hit hurt...a lot. My point? LRM's were what kept poptarters down, and good light scout mechs with TAG.

Why do your type base your entire argument on the "skill™" clause? You totally ignore the entire rest of the game and all other factors of gameplay that might lead to success or failure because you're so uber super leet with that sniper rifle in, oh, every shooter ever, that it's the only yardstick you can use to define "skill™" here.

Spare me your presumptuous BS, please. I think that sniping and even poptarting *gasp* has a place in the game, however, like other playstyles, a player's success with those should be dictated by their own skill rather than a randomised system.

Give the PPC a charge cycle, a slower projectile speed, a freaking reticule waver when zoomed in, I don't know. Anything but RNG.

bah screw it.

Point is, you'll still be able to poptart, it just won't be easy.

If it's a skill, then with roughly one match of practice I got very skillful with it.

Yes, and people who are dedicated to poptarting are even better at it than you are. What's your point?

Yet here you are, posting what you just posted, which instantly shoots down your stupid little assumption.

I played during the weird period where flamers were powerful, during the SRM days, during the LRM spam days, and nothing, absolutely nothing, was as boring or frustrating as the bloat-boat metagame of recent weeks to me.

Something will be the most powerful, and that's fine, so long as a reasonable number of the game's weapons can return fire or have some secondary counter. Extreme-range PPC spam and poptarting didn't exactly offer much as a counter except "do the same" or the mythical "use tactics™".

I can speak on behalf of a half dozen real life friends that have tried, played, stayed, but eventually quit this game precisely during the PPC bloat boat era that is hopefully drawing to a close. Nothing else before, and probably little after, can compare.

Except to you, special snowflake. Keep deluding yourself, that your way of playing is skillful™ and all the terrible people who are not you never, ever, have a point to make.

On a final note, good for you for pretending to find find "irony" in things. The hipster god will reward you with an ironic paradise if you locate enough irony in your everyday ironic life.

The fact that you got so upset and irate as to write the above as your response only confirms my " stupid assumption"
thank you for validating it...

Further I never said anything about my play style, or my skill so why you brought any of that up is beyond me...someone must be a tad insecure.

I simply stated the same people who cried over one FOTM/OP build will be the same ones crying over the next FOTM/OP build such is the case in every multiplayer online game..and the people who play FOTM builds etc generally just hop from one to another and don't really cry about anything...

this is a simple fact of online gaming..so me saying so isn't really an assumption nor would me saying so change this fact or make it a "stupid assumption" to begin with..y

My point is you're puffing up the "skill™" of it to an absurd level. Are you going to tell me that some people are better at shaving in the morning than me, too? Damn, cut my chin again.

So you're acknowledging it is a skill?

Let's stop being silly here. The game is fun because people can play the way they want.

Problems arise when one way becomes somehow 'better' than the others, and people's [often completely skewed and miscalibrated] sense of fair play gets offended.

Poptarting is a skill like any other. Just like being a smart brawler who knows how to distribute damage around his chassis is a skill, just as being an LRM boat with good positional sense is a skill, just as being a good light pilot who knows the map like the back of his hand and uses it to his advantage is a skill.

They need to fix it so its more in line with everything else. But to try to pretend its somehow 'unfair' or 'not a skill' just goes to show how cockeyed people get when it comes to something they love ranting about.

But it is unfair. I've said why repeatedly.
PGI obviously agrees with me on this, like they did on RnR, and it's getting removed.

Sucks, doesn't it?

You can always be skillful in MW4.

The problem lies with the word "skill" being waved around like some kind of weird mystical idol, and that anything that impedes what is declared to be based on skill™ is dogmatically bad.

The ironic thing is I do in fact agree with you and have no idea why we're arguing. As I've said, skill encompasses a lot of things, and people who try to narrow it down to their own definition really have no place discussing balance of any kind.

So you've essentially stuck your fingers in your ears and started screaming "I can't hear you"...

clearly you're lacking in reading comprehension skills as I will again point out that i am not a poptart player...nor did I ever say I was...so why you insist on continuing to say "Your mad because the devs are nerfing how you play"...despite the fact i never claimed to play that way...so not sure if trolling or just...well you know the rest I'm sure.

I was about to suggest "How could this happen to me/I made a mistake/But life goes on..." but I realized the whiny singer at least acknowledges making a mistake or at least falliability, which Captain Skill™ fails to do.

Perhaps a sarcastic posting of this would fit more appropriately?:

Though really this has been my attitude towards all the poptarters ever since they got nerfed:
