I use them on almost every single mech to great effect. 2 SRM 6s is still 18 damage which is nothing to shake a stick at.

My DDC runs 2 LBXs, 3 SRM6s and 2 MLs and it RULES. The tighter spread and SRM flight path changes will be nice.

With no HSR you're still having to guess how much you need to lead with. I'm sick of accurately dumping 12 missiles into the feet of fast mechs and get zero damage done.

It won't have any change on gameplay at all. The AMS "buff" is very devious. It makes people think AMS changed when, actually, nothing has changed at all.

Pre-patch, AMS did 2 damage every 0.5 seconds to missiles that have 1 HP.
Post-patch, AMS will do 3.5 damage every 0.5 seconds to missiles that have 1 HP.

So unless they stealth buffed missile HP, AMS will still kill missiles at the same rate it did before. Just less effectively against LRMs because of the LRM speed buff. So, instead of destroying 4 LRMs from a stand still, it will only destroy 3 now.

I may be misreading these stats but a missile has 10HP.

Quote

<AmmoTypeStats type="LRMAmmo" internalDamage="0.7" shotsPerTon="180" health="10"/>

Otherwise that is for a Ton, thus 180/10 = .055555hp/missile.

Given the rof=30 for AMS, @ 2.0pt you could kill roughly 6 missiles out of any volley (perfect range and targeting required).

Based on that, the LRM5 was not so good solo. Now, because the LRM's travel faster they still need to knock out the same # of missiles to compensate or the AMS gets a hidden nerf.

Well, to be fair, Light Mechs were always supposed to be scouts, harrassers, and flankers, not main combat units. That they were put to use like that never seemed right to me. Now, at least Light pilots will have to do the jobs they should have been doing when they chose to step into the cockpit of a Light, fast battlemech built to avoid combat

Depends on the light. There actually are a lot of lights build for direct combat if you look into Battletech lore, such as the Hollander, Jenner, Commando, (yes, I just said Jenner and Commando), Puma, Cougar, Mandrill, and a ton of others I'm too lazy to look up right now.

Scouting: I don't need a 35-ton pair of binoculars on legs to tell me that the enemy is still camping behind the ridge. Don't preach for lights to have a role that doesn't affect gameplay.

Harassing and flanking: Just don't get within 400m, because the Advanced Seismic Sensor means the enemy will always know where you are at that range unless you stand dead still. Guess you're gonna have to harass and flank with long-range weapons...which lights barely have the tonnage to carry.

Holy.... LRMs are beast mode now. Just did my first round with LRM boat.

That's frustrating. Ask anyone who has grouped with me, I've been running a Dual ALRM15 Cent, and a Trip ALRM 15 Highlander since the missile hotfix, i want them to be viable, I HATE being flavor of the month.

:)

Hmm, I was slightly excited about the BJ, then realized it is nearly the exact same size as a Jager.

The total height a width of arms are nearly identical. The only thing that looks different is the BJ has a narrower torso.

to be truthful, ppc's are much less a threat now that LRM's are worth their weight

Best patch in 5 months.

LRMs are viable again (and AMS is beastly too, for anyone having trouble with the LRM swarm brought on by FotM).

We have multiple nice pieces to add to the information warfare puzzle, and pieces that are individually useful, have associated costs, and assist the team as well as self, serving some mechs better than others.

They augment the gameplay, instead of define it. (caugh, ECM)

Emphasis mine. Three? Are we jumping to company size with this patch?

and loving this game, so far. Don't think the PGI team has gotten enough credit - people need to remember this is a BETA. Good job and good game.

That's good to hear. I've always been a fan of the concept of LRM's and still ran them even during the nerfed period. Just don't want them to be used too much.

So one of the communities biggest gripes has been PPC boating, and JJ snipers. PPC boating because they literally one shot people without a penalty. A few seconds of shut down, and BAM, a few seconds... I am glad that this wasn't addressed, thanks!

I am going to be honest, i like this patch a lot, but i am gonna have to withdraw buying any MC until i know what they are doing with weapon boating, as many of my mechs are boats...and it would effectively put them into permanent storage...i cannot see the logic of investing in a game that is not gonna be fun to play in a few weeks ....just my 2 cents...aside from that i love the way things are right now...but I am very much against added heat for boating...i use a 3 button mouse and 3 fire groups...it would force me to put less weapons on my mech in general...making it not worth playing IMHO

To be fair, they are addressing them. It's just not immediate.

Hopefully it will happen in the next month.

(Keep in mind I am very hard on PGI, but they did at least acknowledge an issue and are trying to figure out how to fix it, now if it takes 3 months, then I'll be mad)
