Well, to be fair, Light Mechs were always supposed to be scouts, harrassers, and flankers, not main combat units. That they were put to use like that never seemed right to me. Now, at least Light pilots will have to do the jobs they should have been doing when they chose to step into the cockpit of a Light, fast battlemech built to avoid combat
Depends on the light. There actually are a lot of lights build for direct combat if you look into Battletech lore, such as the Hollander, Jenner, Commando, (yes, I just said Jenner and Commando), Puma, Cougar, Mandrill, and a ton of others I'm too lazy to look up right now.
Scouting: I don't need a 35-ton pair of binoculars on legs to tell me that the enemy is still camping behind the ridge. Don't preach for lights to have a role that doesn't affect gameplay.
Harassing and flanking: Just don't get within 400m, because the Advanced Seismic Sensor means the enemy will always know where you are at that range unless you stand dead still. Guess you're gonna have to harass and flank with long-range weapons...which lights barely have the tonnage to carry.
