High Ping? Low Frames? Tell us about it here!

Please attempt to respond to the following questions in your responses:
  • How had the patch generally affected your performance?
  • Whether there are specific points in the game when your performance changes.
  • What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
  • Average FPS ingame and in the menus for previous patch and latest patch (Press F9 to see your FPS)
  • System specs (You can include them in a [spoiler] [ /spoiler])
  • Your advertised internet connection speed / Geographic location

Low fps - I've dropped from 40-50 fps (in close brawls pre-most recent patch) to 7-9 fps (in close brawls after this current patch). Menu fps is at 59 (I think unchanged between patches).

Video settings are all at medium at 720p. Lowering settings doesn't seem to increase fps in close firefights.

dropped into my first game and have a 5000+ ping, ran a speed test on my line while the game was running and all was fine with my service, my normal ping on this game is and has been at a steady 120 for the last 8 months. i live in the UK and my PC is wired to my modem, not wireless.

Ping is ok, but dropped 3 straight games back to client. One drop was before the game started, one was mid-through, and last was about 75% through the match.

Also, FPS looks to be about 10fps lower than last patch with same settings (medium, POST AA on, 1280x720). MacBook Pro Retina 2.6Ghz, 16GB RAM, 650M, Win 7 Bootcamp.

Not a d/c, just dropped back to client after loading all players with new Canyon Network map. First time logging into game today and with first map being Canyon. Using JM6-DD mech, changed colors only changes made before drop.

Mech is locking into game-play as well.

EDIT* This issue, namely the card overheating and unusually low FPS and response times were fixed by whatever unlisted updates to the servers or code you added with the hotfix. Thanks for the timely update.

Post April 2nd, my performance dropped from AVG 24 FPS to 8FPS until the most recent hotfix, at which point it performed back at the normal rates until the may 21st patch. Now, my performance has once again been utterly demolished, now averaging only 8-12fps and giving excessive latency for all commands and responses from typing to firing off jumpjets.

Only the most recent in a long line of patches that has made me seriously reconsider PGI's decision to use the much more intensive and ineffecient cryengine 3 over, as an example, the current Unreal engine. That choice has severely limited the overall performance of the game, regardless of beta status. Overall, I feel it was very shortsighted.

Otherwise, here's hoping you guys are able to reign in a fix.

Have Done: Reinstalled graphics drivers, reinstalled MWO, checked all nvidia gpu power and performance setting and made a custom entry for MWO specific settings.

When I run AIDA to watch my gpu information, I noticed that MWO forces the card into its lowest clock settings automatically, despite far more intensive games such as EVE or Supreme Commander not doing so. Please PGI, your code is highly unstable and ineffective, it needs to be your highest priority over new content. You cannot expect the current trend to result in a functional full game being released in time. If you keep doing this, you will endure the same problems WoW's (one year before the devs said it was done and ready) initial release had.

Please please PLEASE do not make that mistake. Patience is a virtue, and I do not see it being applied to this game.

I have been playing MWO for several weeks and have never had any issues. My ping is routinely 138-140. My connection is stable. I use a wired connection between PC and router. Everything was good.

Since the latest patch, I have tried to play several times. Each time rubber-banding and other lag effects has made the game unplayable. When the matchmaker has found a game, the screen goes black for a much longer time than normal prior to the level loading screen. After the level has loaded, there is another black screen and a very long wait before the 'Mech bootup sequence. By the time the 'Mech has been started, the team are hundreds of metres away and only move in jump-start fashion.

I have tried the following:

Tried the game on Training Grounds - that worked fine - so probably something connection-based.

Tried PING on various Internet sites and checked for other devices in the house downloading. No problems - nothing downloading, PING to various places in normal and good.

Re-booted the router.

Re-booted the PC. Closed down any non-essential applications on the PC.

Ran the MWO repair tool (no errors reported)

Changed 'Mechs

Still observed the same problem.

No test I have performed makes me think the problem is at my end. Other multiplayer games seem to be working fine. I can only conclude that something happening today with MWO is causing this new problem.

Game unplayable now. Ping went from 115 to 125 ms but in game all mechs are rubberbanding as if I have LAG from hell...
Every command has response lag of about 5 seconds or more.

Have I mentioned that I am not a happy camper?

I was playing this morning prior to the patch with no problem.

My ping was in the 60 range this morning and my FPS was in the 50 range. Everything was per usual.

After the patch: My ping was over 120 in the first game and my fps was around 20....then subsequent games it dropped even worse, ping increasing to nearly 300 and FPS dropping to 9.

Obviously I didn't change anything other than your patch. I restarted client and that made zero gains in the ping/fps issues. Restarting the computer resets the process and starts with the first game horrid and barely playable devolving into completely unplayable.

Getting pretty significant fps drop. Have been at max settings 60 fps constant since I upgraded in February, and fps are between 30-50 now.

Specs:
win7 pro
i5 3750k
nvidia 680gtx
16gb ddr3

Framerate takes an especially hard hit when anything with particle effects is happening. LRMs drop the framerate by about 25-30, and my 8-flamer HBK-4P sends me down to ~20fps when it hits anything, including terrain.
