Its a good map, you need jumpjets though.

Also, my only point of critique: Some of the "grasses", eh "plants that look like grass patches" would be what, 3 Meters high? Kinda breaks the "im in a 15 meter Mech" disbelief, but the map otherwise is neat!

O.9 gravity. 6 foot high grasses aren't that uncommon on earth where there is little foot traffic from fauna so doesn't sound that unlikely on a lower gravity planet. It's not unreasonable for just slightly different evolution on a different planet to end up with larger shrubs. Check African thorn shrubs for size before you say it can't happen however. Those are taller than people. Just think these things are halfway between shrubs and true trees. Bamboo is technically a grass also btw...

Why is the idea that a planet that is not necessarily Earth might have a different environment so unfathomable to so many?

You want matches in Zero gravity, underwater, and in space... but as soon as you see a 6 foot shrub "it`s impossible becasue it`s not like that on Earth". When it in fact IS in some places, ON EARTH.

*facepalm*

Stop bringing logic into this! There is no place for it here! I stand corrected though. Still seems out of place to me. Maybe it just needs to GROW on me....see what I did there? Grow? flora, plants? pttff nevermind ;)

It is a little smaller than I was expecting (says the Spider pilot...) but otherwise excellent!

First time I was on the map, we ended with no shots fired - somehow everyone managed to walk right by the other side and end up at the enemy base.

Best map i seen , it has cover and hiding spots to ambush from.
I all so see the city in the back ground and i am hoping to be playing in one soon.
The art work is outstanding as will.

The map it self I don't mind and actually like it. I do however have an issue wit hthe scale(not size of the map).

Seeing the "small shrubs" are huge! Imagine being outside of your mech as a normal person standing next to one. IT'S HUGE along with the other flora! When I am on this map I do not feel like I am in a big machanical death machine. I feel like I simply am the mech and the mech is no bigger then an actual person. I really hope the scale of things change.

Other than that nice map, lots of places to hide and move.

Exactly, the scrubs. Also the holding clamps of the "railway" over the bidge.. they just look tooooooooooooo massive, i mean they are either as broad an the railway itself. or both rails are the 2 sides of one rail.. this again gives a wrong feeling of scale.. as if you were not in a Mech, but human-sized.

The small handrails on the bridges help again though,,, as cool as map is, it gives the least clues of size..... but thats really my only point of critique.

Especially the size is nice, same as Caustic Valley, you dont meet the other side instant but its also no 5 minute hike in a slow mech, as in Alpine.

I would love to dub those rocky canyons "Spider Country", asd Jumpjets are king. :(

Only issue is, as with many maps, vertical cliff climbing is still a bit too easy to believe, you dont slow down and can climb nearly vertical cliffs with ease, restrict that so most of them require jump jets to get up but add more spots with gentler slopes/ramps so the top of the map is still accessible enough for non jj mechs... wont happen but it would add to the map... and most other maps too... otherwise possibly the best map they've made so far allowing all ranges to come into play without being static.

I played a couple of matches in this last night. Its a great map, well thought out and i love it. The only problem?

ITS SNIPER/LRM BOAT HELL OUT THERE!!!

Cover is sparce up on those plateues and dropping into the canyons carries the risk of being nailed by enemys up above. This will take some getting used to but it is still really good.

Oh and OP, was the PPC boat a K2? Because if it was i think it was me.

That's my only beef with this map. It makes me feel like I'm playing CoD, not a big stompy robot game. There's nothing that really conveys the scale of the game.

"It's perfectly reasonable. Why can't there be really tall grass and tall trees on this low gravity planet?"
Because one of the cornerstones of Battletech is big stompy mechs, and the fantasy of stomping on houses and shooting guns the the size of a semi trailer. People want to feel big and powerful. There's no mech game out there where the robots are 1/3rd the size of a human. Who has a fantasy of being a tiny robot, shooting people in the knees?

In an infinite universe with an infinite number of planets, there are probably worlds with very tall grass and very tall trees. And there's also probably a world with very large cats and dogs, and very large BBQ equipment and very large parasols. But we don't need a map like that, where it feels like we're trapped in "Honey, I shrunk the kids"

I want maps where something breaks or dies every time my 100 ton mech takes a step in any direction.

I'd agree with the scale sentiment.

It does feel a little down-scaled somewhat.

I think slightly enlarging some of the bits of the terrain may fix that, or just enlarging the whole map a little. However doing this in the sandbox means you cant increase it by half or quarter afaik.

So a 2048x2048 terrain mapped at 2m a pixel, the only amount larger they can go is either 4096x4096x2m, or 2048x2048x3m, which means a scale up larger than I would think is needed.

Other then that, its one of the best detailed maps so far imo. This and the (old version) of forest colony seem to be the best looking ones. Tourmaline is also quite nice imo even tho its a desert.

Love the map. The center point at capture point Theta is a real Mexican standoff area. You can't quite proceed because the other side is full of baddies, but you can just barely get enough shots off to the other side. The two pillars on each side plus the rocks really makes it a tense area, and I've had more than a few surprises round corners there.

Its funny how people thought this map would be amazing for snipers. I'd say its just as good for brawlers because of all the corners to hide and run around.

My "oh ****" moment?

I was crossing the middle of map on the upper side when I look left and coming right up through the lower middle pathway was a Highlander with a Atlas on both sides. Luckily I managed to jump back into cover.

Another good moment?

I was moving to intercept an Atlas in my Highlander and he seriously outgunned me. I managed a huge surprise attack which disabled his AC20 and one of his Large Lasers. Then help came and we killed him.

I appreciate a new map, like the different landscapes so far as each map is distinct from the other (although still a noticeable lack of maps overall). Love the rail and yes loved the dumptrucks and the garbage dump of thousands of mech parts. Nice machinery over there too. Wish the outline of the spaceport and metropolis was more visable. Love the double planets.

I know I've read that there are several different tactics viable on this map, and there are, but so far in the games I've played on it (~8 times) everyone runs to the center and it's battle on the small plateau. So no matter how pretty a map is or how many tactic could be used it only matters what tactics are used and in that respect it's kinda boring fighting in same location.

I hate being forced to use jumpjets and you really do need them as the different levels are largely unaccesible without them. There are some small paths leading up but there should be more. I don't use jumpjets and I refuse to use them (comes from my MW4:Mercs days). As PGI has tweaked the other maps over time, I hope they tweak this one and add a few more pathways.
