Will do. For best results and confirmed teammate interaction with NARC, will be doing this tonight. Attempts will be recorded from at least two perspectives via either this method

Depends on what sort of syncing issues I encounter when splicing the two videos together (the PiP version is because the player would not play the audio in sync with the video on either video, making synchronization impossible. Had to switch from Nero to AVS, which does not support split screen so I had to do an overlay).

(Btw, the vids are fairly new so checking them out is also much appreciated! Flamer fun before the patch and the buff!)

A couple of nights ago, after the patch came out, I ran a Jenner-K with Narc to spot for an LRM boat teammate with whom I was on voice comms - it worked incredibly well (though, in honesty, it could do with the fact that indirect LRM fire is pretty brutal at the moment). It's worth trying out, though.

Let me know when you upload a vid showing the new flamers in action. I wanna see how effective they are now.

Isn't the heat building up a lot more though? That's what it looks like they're suppose to do now, according to the patch notes.

I'm not so sure about this. I was firing NARCs frequently today, and the NARC flew straight every time. SRMs don't.

Archer at this point having watched 2 release cycles in Beta... with attendant wtf factor... yeah I wouldn't actually be surprised. In TT they should be SRMs requiring aim. But I'm certain that in code they are in the ewar section. Carefully fire-walled lest we look as stewpid as we are in fact! Hence... having some other mechanic!

They changed the dynamics, but inevitably you will overheat far earlier than your target, which is still the problem.

High heat capacity is generally to blame there.

Then what does that whole "Target heat will increase exponentially due to Heat Retention" mean?

In regards to NARC
I did not get anything concrete in terms of whether or not NARC works or how yet. One time some other mech threw up UAV which contaminated the results. Another time I got one shot killed by a 4 PPC BJ. In another instance there were four missile boats and four jagers. Each boat had its own Jager buddy. Some tough times. I'll try to get another attempt in tomorrow night.

Didn't get much in for Lordred's screenshots either. But on the plus side, before we tried to run NARCs I ran this experimental, non-elited Atlas build. (Read: Basics only.) 4 ML, AC/2, AC/5, LRM-20, SRM-6, STD 300 engine.

Recorded by Lordred.
Atlas is Koniving.
Conversations are happening in teamspeak, but other than my own voice and the unheard Lordred, all other voices are referring to a different match.

I would actually prefer a "universal" heat capacity cap change altogether, but whatever to fix the disaster that is the current heat cap situation is better than nothing.

Artemis LRMs work "with" NARC, they just don't stack bonuses. You are just as well off as a standard LRMs with NARC. Artemis has no downsides. It is the same weight, amount per ton, and space. Its a wholistic upgrade for the cbills. So no worries.

When I've been NARCing over the past couple days, I've noticed that the NARC beacon doesn't always last the full 30 seconds. Sometimes it only seemed to last for 5. Can the NARC beacon be destroyed by incoming fire?

(editted to clarify that I'm referring to the beacon being destroyed, not the launcher.)

Yes, if the mech with the beacon on it takes 40 (according to the patch notes at least, used to be 10) damage, the beacon is destroyed.

Okay I've come to a simple conclusion. ...I need to recruit people to help me test this. I can't find Zhizhu mercs suicidal brave enough to run with a NARC.

If you're interested, please come online and add me around 8 PM Eastern Standard Time. I'll arrange for you to hop on the teamspeak, you'll be on youtube, and we'll try to get our NARC testing done. Preferable if you're able to record as well at a 720p resolution to help with making the split-screen footage possible, so clear some space to be able to squeeze in a few recorded matches.
