Make a consumable that forces your teammates to target anything they've hit- effectively a device on your mech that hacks your teammates' mechs so that R is automatically pressed whenever they engage an enemy and are not currently targeting someone.

LOL. I would assume this consumable would only be usable once you have been destroyed and are spectating?

:)

I'd settle with it being something like Narc. You'd have to chase down your ***** teammates to make it work, but that would be satisfying in its own way.

Pretty sure the game does that automatically. Shooting at a hostile Mech (when you have no other target) auto targets it. At least it does for me

Also, I'd like to see your financial forecast and market predictions that have lead you to believe this is a multi-million dollar idea. Numbers, man! I need numbers!

Jokes aside, I'd be okay with a default-on option that automatically targets any enemy under your crosshairs, so spectating pubbies would be less infuriating.

lol i understand your frustration dude but these guys are either noobsies or lazy not to press the r button to target a mech. pgi could give a simple -5% accuracy if your enemy is not targetted or something like that. players just need a kick to remind them of the simpler things now and then. well ok not accuracy, but convergence speed or something
think of it like this, you drive your friend every day and ne never wears his seatbelt. you scream at him to put it on but he ignores you for whatever reason. the best way to get his attention is to drive a bit and slam on the breaks so he hits his head. do that a few times and you will see a quick change in behavour, he will either get mad and exit the car, or put his seat belt on lol.
a little negetaive effect for being lazy is not a bad thing for games. compare it to buffs in wow, you use them because well, they buff. so essentially a little "debuff" on mechs that refuse to use R to target would soon correct their behaviour

Okay, I could either Jettison this... or move it somewhere for players to vent about their combat experiences...
Let's see what the lads down at the Barracks wanna say about this.

Gods above I hate it when players do this.

Even worse is when they've already targeted someone...
and they start firing on a DIFFERENT mech in the same location that's damaged on the OTHER MECH THEY'RE TARGETING.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

There are days where I want to be able to just reach through the screen and slap the person on the other side. Have they ever even read the guides?

yeah I have to agree I love my target button... I do however wish it had a target under reticule button to go with the target next button. I have even watched people with SSRM's firing there guns without targeting....

To be fair, some of us can fire lrms at a distant, but locked target, while also using direct fire weapons on an un-targeted, but closer opponent. Especially when opponent 2 is too close for lrm use.

But yeah, unless someone intentionally dual targeting, what you describe sounds kinda wonky. :)

No, what I was talking about was the idiots who lock onto one guy, start firing, then another guy comes along and they start firing on him.
They seem to forget that you need to change the lock to find out where you should aim.

I will do multi target on purpose. I lock first guy, memorise and keep shooting him. If a sexond mech comes I lock him to see id he is an easier target. If yes then I switch targets if not I re lock the first target.

The scouts should be using the NARC, but they are not, as a rule, being scouts in MW:O.

I don't see why. Narcs suck a lot in MWO, continuing the fine Battletech tradition of Narc Beacons being a waste of tonnage.
