Been a long time coming speed is the name of the game. Thank you PGI for bringing back my favorite mech ever.

An interesting custom variant from Sarna:

Quote

 • Victor Li - The custom Victor used by Tai-sho Li Dok To in the Fourth Succession War, this variant removed all the standard weapons and replaced them with a single LRM-15 and ten Medium Lasers. Armor and movement profiles remained unchanged, but it carried a total of nineteen heat sinks. BV (2.0) = 1,625[17]

Ten medium lasers sounds like a beast! Though, it might be called P2W if made into a hero mech while other Victors don't have nearly as many laser hardpoints

Looks very nice.

But since game play is still based around what PGI calls ECM and the ridiculous "fixes" it, it still sucks, so why bother?

Thus far the devs have been pretty clear based on their decisions that they are hesitant to release an assault mech that can field more than a single heavy ballisitic weapon or more than 2 smaller ballistics. Hopefully the devs are dipping their toes, if somewhat tentatively, into this water with the Victor, a low tonnage assault mech with what may be 2 or 3 ballistic hardpoints.

Let us hope for an Annihilator. :D

Because 4 Gauss and 4 PPC would make for a great game!

Great choice. I have to say I find it humorous that even in the lore/backstory/whatever all the enemies are poptarts...

I was hoping for a mech to fill in the 95 ton gap, but this will have to do. :D

The weapons are all in the arm. 10 Medium Lasers in the Right Arm, and an LRM15 in LT. So kind of gimped once the arm is gone.

The Long Tom Victor St. James, of the future however, is my favorite custom Mech of all time.

While not the essential Lyran icon you were looking for, the Atlas is used most in the Lyran Commonwealth where it sees uninterupted production by Defiance Industries until 3068. So you could say Lyran Commonwealth: Commando, Atlas.

Orion, Awesome and Spider are also mechs very common in the Lyran Commonwealth. Highlander are not ultra common, but used by the Capelan and the Lyran.

Read here for the full list (Mechs per Faction) and here for detailed numbers.

Hatamoto Chi is based off the Thug

It is based on the Charger (with a Thug-like loadout).

For all tents and purposes, is the Victor essentially a smaller, faster Highlander?

Yes

Is it another potential Jump Sniper mech?

Yes

Is it the Mauler?

Nah

Is this another great choice for Mech #20?

Hell yes.

guys, you know you don't have to put PPCs and Gauss on that thing, no one is forcing you. You could try the stock weapons! Get DHS and Endo, up the armor and heatsinks if needed. Hey, switch those Mlasers for medpulse. Who knows, you could have some fun with a mech that is not boating gauss/ppc.

The Spider is considered rare in every nation, the Orion is common everywhere as it's survivable he was talking about what's Iconic, not merely common.

nice mech got have these one ) VTR-9K2 Victor St. James - After his son was killed in the Taurian Concordat invasion of the Federated Suns, Benedict St. James had his VTR-9K refitted with experimental weapons and equipment to allow him to take his revenge. Replacing the standard weapons with a Long Tom Cannon and two Medium X-Pulse Lasers, St. James' Victor can inflict massive amounts of damage on his prey. The 'Mech's jump jets had to be removed to make way for the weapons load, and technicians equipped it with a patchwork of Ferro-Fibrous and Standard Armor as another weight saving measure. A Supercharger mounted on the engine provides the Victor with unexpected bursts of speed ... I know its one never see but well be nice
