I love Steam too, I have many games here, and spent a lot of money on them... Steam have many positives.

There are sales, have great updating system, comunication with friends, etc.

Im in, I want Steam as one of distribution ways (but not only one, let people download standalone client, etc.)

My question is how much of a cut does Steam get from the games it offers?

I don't like Steam, I'm happy when game running by it's own without any third side apps.

I have none online games that steam some times won't let me play if I'm not connected to the internet and signed in. There is a reason I have none online games cause I travel and don't allways have decent internet. Kinda been ******* me off every one is going to online only games cause of this reason. Offshore in the middle of the ocean we need something to keep us busy dureing none work hours.

Steem suks y not Origin? Originz da beest man.

But seriously? I have and use Steam. It's got it's pros and cons, but it's a mostly decent platform for distribution. I agree that the offline mode problem is terrible and needs a fix, but it's not too big of an issue, especially since this is an online game. I wouldn't really want achievements for this game, but those are optional with Steam games, and most of my friends are on Steam. The biggest pro in this case would be the PR though, as previously mentioned, as it would likely lead to more players, more cash, and a potentially longer shelf life for a good (and getting better) game.

P.S. Origin can suck it.

Am I the only one who thinks this would be a great idea?

Would love to see the list of achievements to go with it too

im guessing it has to do w/ microsoft owning rights...could be wrong though

Orgin is almost twice as bad on the offline thing if you bought any DLC that have to be verified to play....think it's stupid it should all be downloaded so no verifing needed.

I think this is a great idea. Not only because I have been very happy with Steam's service, but because putting MW:O up on Steam will attract a lot of extra attention to itself. People who might not have otherwise bothered with the game will take notice of it on Steam, and might just push that "Download free game" button for a game that looks as good as MW:O does.

Gotta make it as easy as possible for people to take that first step.

I like steam because it keeps icons off my desktop and since i have dual monitor all i have to do is go over and click what game i want to play. It also keeps my friends all in one place. For the people that doesn't like steam, Blacklight Retribution is a f2p play game that you can get from the publisher website or you can download it from steam. PGI could do the same thing with MWO.

Steam would be a very good idea, World of Tanks is on steam and they still have a pretty healthy population on that game.

It would be a mistake to not look into a distributor like that, but I think they may want a cut of some sort of profit or something, I don't know how that all works, obviously.

However, it would keep the population of the game strong, people would download it to check it out simply because it's free. It certainly couldn't hurt anything by doing that.

Gamersgate is another great site. I've found some pretty awesome games there that I couldn't find anywhere else. Old and new games.

I would certainly look into putting this on Steam, Gamersgate, GOG, and any other sites like that, it will only benefit the community of MWO in the short and long term.

I had thought about this awhile back, and overall, any free to play games that go to Steam see a massive influx of poorly behaved players. I'm not saying Steam is at fault, but more along the lines of millions of players being on Steam, and a large amount of team killing, griefing players come out of large populations of players.

Although I do not favor the achievement aspect of it.

As with most online games that get on steam after being standalone for a while(tribes ascend), I'm sure that you'll have the option of choosing not to use steam. personally, I would enjoy it. I don't give a **** about achievements, but I would sure love to have the overlay in game, seeing as I use steam to talk to most of my friends. Besides, waiting 15 minutes to answer that annoying "bloop" gets old!

I agree it would be a good thing for MWO to be on steam. But I believe that MWO can survive without it. Maybe in the future, but not right now.

You can have a non-steam and steam version client. That's how Tribes Ascend is now, you can use the steam version if you want, but you don't have to. They both use the same servers, and the steam version has the current benefit of being able to use steam wallet, and other steam features.

I could easily see Pirhana going with clients both on their site and through the steam client

steam would be a very positive move for MWO and would get it more recognition as well. i do think when the beta phase is over it would be a wise course of action to head to steam.

I hate Steam based on principle. I should NOT be forced to run an extraneous program just so I can run another different program. I wish all PC games had a stand alone client. I haven't bought a single retail PC game in years because they all require Steam or GFWL or (oh god) Origin.
By all means have a steam version but please have the option of a stand alone client.

Would be stupid of them not to put the game on Steam, but companies have been doing some rather stupid things lately. We'll see.
