I will admit that I, myself, have posted flaming topics about game mechanics. Those posts were written because of my frustration and getting my a$$ handed to me by superior players at no fault of theirs. I most likely changed my weapons, armor, tactics, something that decreased my effectiveness which caused my imminent demise at the hands of more skilled players. It wasn't PGI's fault or any of the developers trying to balance the current mechanics. These people need constructive criticism, not accusations that a weapon is overpowered or the new mech is garbage, etc.. THIS IS NOT A FINISHED GAME, IT IS A "BETA"!

I freely apologize for my previous rants about balance issues. The developers need constructive feedback from us players to better the game before mass release of finished product. We freely play this BETA to help get the best product for general release. Give PGI and everyone a break and describe the problem you are having so it can be corrected, don't scream and yell because you were bested by someone better than you.

The beta tag will only last for so long.

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

Not sure whether it's player or dev morale. And who is beating and who is taking the beating.

I am sure the developers have a pretty thick skin, so I wouldn't worry about their feelings too much.

They are making the game they want, and ignoring the whiners. We will just have to see if what they ultimately end up with.

Trying? Trying is releasing balance updates once a week. Not once every two to three months. I've been in every single Blizzard RTS closed beta since 2002 and guess what... they do balance updates almost on a weekly basis. They are in constant contact with the testers, listening to all input while providing feedback and making changes.

If that is what they really were aiming for, which they are, why are subforums such as "Suggestions" exist? These forums will forever be known as "The childrens playpen". Keep the community busy here thinking we have a voice of opinion or that our feedback is important while they do their own thing.

When you have design decisions like say, the debut of the "Seismic Module"... it is very easy to want to question the developers on "WTF were you thinking" or "What awesome stuff are you smoking" to generate this stuff.

There is no actual dialogue that happens there, plus the feedback threads confirm what most of us believe... they aren't really listening to us. It's not about the argument; it's the content of what we're trying to say. Most of the time, the response to something of importance, like ECM, has genuinely gone unheeded and continues to boil as more threads that react to this change continue to be created. Unlikely minor gripes, trends like this continue, so in many ways, it is the developer's responsibility to quell these whines by PROVIDING INSIGHT AS TO WHAT THEY ARE THINKING AND WHY THEY THINK THIS WAY. Otherwise, it's just random speculation and we keep continuing to make up stuff as we please, through the actions AND inactions of the problem at hand.

It's that simple.

This.

I thought we were seeing a turning point with the recent patch. Boy was I wrong. They had at least 4 bugs with LRM's, and hotfixed them into uselessness.

Added a Module which most of us realize shouldn't exist.

And the weapon fixes were as underwhelming as we all expected.

Not good.

And remember, we are now, 3-4 months from release. That's 6-8 patches.

I'm not sure whether to comment on the irony of a guy trying to white-knight by posting a thread called "Stop flaming the developers" (sic, he used all caps) in the Game Balance forums, when the most important thing for a Beta product is user feedback..

But I have to at least thank him for starting the thread, because it allowed the existence of the ******* magnificent posts quoted above. QFT, and all that.

Edit: I just read MustrumRidcully's post again, and laughed AGAIN. How the hell do you come up with **** like that? ;)

If the game developers don't want to get flamed then they need to put out a test server and let players go onto it and actually test out whacky Paul's ideas first before they are unleashed on the general population. When a game goes through huge and wild mood swings when it comes to gear, people get irate. Right now, only 2/3 of the weapon families are viable and its been that way for months with no fix in sight.

You can expect more flames directed at the developers. When the weapons stay the same and the flames die down, its a very bad sign. At least now people are still invested in the game to post. When those people quit posting and there have been no changes, it means people have left the game. The churn in what Piranha calls "Open Beta", has got to be a lot higher than what was the actual Beta.

I personally feel that the Devs are doing there job... This is beta, the perfect time to test out stuff we may not like/hate. See what the limits on different weapons are ect... I'd much rather it be now than once were not in beta anymore. However, we should be giving lots of feedback so they know what we do and don't like.

I do think people should have more patience in general. Feedback is good, emotionally fueled responses aren't. As for people sniping the word beta, they use that word to point out that they're still creating the game and it hasn't gone gold yet. Because you can spend money on it doesn't change that fact.

The problem with that fallacy is that the game has a "Gold" date which has an ETA of September. Given the state of things, it would be a date set if you were sharing a lot of the good stuff that Paul or Bryan have been smoking.

Yes, a release date still close to half a year. A lot of time for game development.

That sounds like just enough time for one or even two whole balancing patches from PGI. So much progress, brah.

They've said clans don't come out until a month or two after release so it's fair to add that on if you consider it part of the whole game.

It took 2 months for any changes to missiles (after the post-LRMpocalypse nerf, which was just after the March Jager patch), and that's been reverted back to square one (or is it square two? Square zero?).

There are 4 months to go.

With that kind of response time, are you overly optimistic or simply uninformed?

I'm just hoping for usable MGs. Given their rate of change, I'd be waiting until next year for another buff.
