Orion would be the only 75 ton mech which is the sweet spot for Heavy mechs. It was cancelled today by the way. Delayed for 3-4 months, same thing.
Yeah alot of people don't understand that there are certain weights that hit a "Sweet Spot" in terms of how you can build them mostly due to how engine ratings work. 75 tons for example, allows you to mount a realitively low weight engine while still retaining great speed for a heavy all the while allowing for the maximum tonnage available left over for weapons and equipment. If I recall correctly the sweet spots are 35 tons, 55 tons, 75 tons, 85 tons and 100 tons. Outside those ranges mechs building becomes inefficent.
For example, take a 75 ton Orion and an 80 ton Victor. To get 64 kph out of them you have a 300 engine in the Marauder and a 320 engine in the Victor. Also add up the internal structure and Gyro weights you find that these weights + the 320 in the Victor add up to exactly 5 additional tons meaning that the 75 ton Orion and the 80 ton Victor have exactly the same free weight for Armor, weapons and equipment despite the Victor being an assault class mech. This inefficency gets worse as you increase engine sizes to get more speed. Basically at some point the 75 ton Orion will be able to mount more weapons/armor/equipment than the 80 Victor.
Also yeah disappointingly so, the Orion was postphoned and we are instead getting a fairly useless mech in my opinion, the Quickdraw.
