How about if a mech that shuts down due to overheat remains on the radar as if it were still active and targettable until it cools down to a certain percent, say 80% or something around where currently an overheated mech automatically powers up again.

I think that would be the best since currently one of the reasons its not too bad to shut down from overheat is because the enemy loses you on radar and that can actually benefit the person who shut down from overheating.

Thank you, the over all suggestion was in regards to no real penalties for over heating, and it would seem that in fact the DEvs encourage building builds that will overheat..(I.E Coolant Flushes.).. The over riding of builds shutting down and blowing up is a step in the right direction.. I still think the penalties / heat build up system is way off from where it should be..

Per the TT rules a mech that was shut down due to the abuse of the heat system was more susceptible to AIMED SHOTS. This would include an increased odds of hitting the target (not in the head) and increased odds of a successful focused strike on that part..
Shots to the head where harder to make, but had increased odds of a focused strike to that part..

Taking the current game rules into place,
I suggest a mod that when targeting a shut down mech, gives the player an increased damage, and increased Focused ability of X percent, and increased damage on the part under the cross hairs. The added bonuses are not given when a strike that will cause them to shut down themselves.

This could also be incorporated into the "Critical scanner" idea..

A good concept idea.

I would say it would be a better implementation if a shut down mech tripled the crit chances of any incoming fire.

The roll was to simulate the fact that stationary targets are easier to hit than moving ones. It was to simulate in a dice game, what would happen in a shooting match.

In the MWO, that behavior doesn't need to be simulated, because it is already what is happening. You shut down facing me? Great, I'm going to unload on your cockpit. The fact that you're not moving at all increases my chance of success. No "bonus" needed.

We don't need to simulate, in our shooting game, what a dice game was doing to more accurately simulate a shooting game. We're already shooting at a statue.

It's become apparent to me in this thread that making sense about the issue doesn't work with the OP. He can't seem to grasp that, as you say and has been said previously, the TT bonus only exists because players in TT are not sitting in a mech with their crosshairs on a stationary powered down mech with their fingers on the trigger like we are.

Or he grasps it perfectly well and just wants to do some double-dippin' :)

Beagle Active Probe takes care of this problem.
