I wonder what features we would have if the resources tapped for 3rd person were devoted to meta development?

Hey y'know. The person who does X isn't the same as the person who does Y....Did you know the person who does the artwork on the left leg is different from the person who does the art on the right leg?

On the note of Orion getting pushed back and Quickderp getting announced, I wonder if PGI ever considered a public poll for voting on new mechs from a selection they set up. (IE like microsoft did back with MW4;mercs IS and clan expansion packs where we voted on Zues and Warhawk) That way if people dont like the mech that comes out front, they only have democracy to blame.

XD

That's kinda obvious. I think people would ... hmm, oh you know, like to know... why.

you're aware they said the clans don't come out for about a year after release right?

[citation needed]

Whenever questioned about the release of the Clans, I HAVE seen/heard them say "We're not prepared to discuss that right now", so again, [citation needed].

A lot of people don't use the forums, if they did this they would need to have it as something in the mechlab, would produce more and better results

Huzzah! It's another lackluster piece of cannon fodder.

Come-on guys! What we need is more diversity in the mechs, not carbon copies of niche mechs that few people actually play.

I don't really care one way or another about the Quickdraw.

It's really not about WHICH mech it is.

It's about the terrible communication once again.

It's about not even bothering anymore with concept art.

It's the lazy attitude and general uncaring they show for the community.

Based on what they've said, there is no way they didn't know the Quickdraw would be the next mech, so they purposely withheld the information.

It's just dumb marketing.

Yes, we were just discussing this on comstar.

After that abysmal showing during the winter when they weren't putting out information we were told "oh look at the changes coming to make communication between us and you better." That last all of 3-5 months before... well this.

The lack of communication (moving back to that model) is just lame and hurtful and makes me want to throw mud pies :\

What communication? Is it Twitter, NGNG podcasts, or is it the random phantom dev posts that prop up now and again that barely get cataloged.

These "mud pies" you speak of must be more effective than airstrikes and artillery!

I was looking forward to get an Orion SO MUCH. <_< :( :( :( :o :(

Also i'm wondering... The variants in TT differed mainly by which of it's weapons were pointing backwards.
If all weapons point forward, AND if PGI does not introduce OS launchers (which they won't because no one would use them), then there are only 2 Quickdraw variants in this timeline. The one with 2 missile racks, and the one with just one and more heat sinks instead.

You've been trolled for about 8 months now.

I'm just blown away there are certain people who still defend them, to the death.

I was referring to the mech swap... It wasn't trolling in the past it was just PGI making poor decisions that made me face desk

Went to buy the 30 USD pack of MC to get a Rifleman Firebrand...

Looked at the Quickdraw bait and switch for the Orion...

Looked at the card number entered for MC...

Looked at Quickdraw, 5 ton lighter version of Catapult that we need like holes in our heads...

Looked at transaction for variation on mech I've wanted for this game since I started...

...and then canceled transaction.

Thought you should see how shenanigans like this can and do cost you money: no matter how badly I want that RFL, I'm not going to support developers so intent on shoooting themselves in the foot with both barrels every chance they get. FEEDBACK! Have fun with that...

EDIT I should also note that means I won't be playing MW:O much, if at all for a month or two. Am I ragequitting, no - it's beta, I'll be waiting for PGI to shape this heap into something worth releasing, right up until they release it, heap or no. Mainly, I was really looking forward to the Orion but more-so the RFL hero to save up for it and to make builds I could not yet make: but with the proposed releases we're getting there's no point for me to pay cash, play, and then save CBills for crap I don't want. See you folks on Neverwinter and War Thunder, where the devs actually give half a damn and know how to find their keisters without need of two hands and a map.

So theres a technical issue with the orion, and you act like they did this to **** you over? wow.

So much pain and disappointment in this thread, that I feel obliged to land a supporting hand to Piranhas. I am quite old BT fan and thus I mostly negative to many things like 3PV, current weapons balance, Streak-SRM's broken mechanic and overall FPS-ness of MWO, but I still would like encourage PGI to continue development at their best and don't let their mood significantly drop down after that storm.
Yes, many things happen not like we wanted them, yes, everybody loves when his/her opinion is heard, but there are always circumstances which person/company cannot change. Be reasonable and be patient.

I won't focus on negative side of this communique, instead I'll list my positive impressions:
  • JJ-shaking-is-death-to-damned-poptarts! I love it.
  • Missile weapons HSR complete, new weapons balance reviews in next patches are coming.
  • SRMs' spread fixed, they are useful back again.
  • Test server is coming, hope that will mean better QA in future
  • 12 vs 12 is coming!
Khmm, I can't keep silent. Dear PGI, you must find a way to communicate effectively with your active community, MWO had and still has one of the best gaming communities I've ever seen, don't throw aside that treasure. All of us, old-school MW fans, love the BT universe and the flavor it has, every time you make a step away from it to the chart-future scratched by dumb-head-marketing-staff, we wail and curse you (we did, we do and we will do).

Edit: Can we at least get the reason of Orion's schedule shift?

Seconded. I may have a poor opinion of PGI but I'd be the first to apologize and congratulate them if they turned this pile of broken bolts into something genuinely good. I haven't waited for this MW game as long as some, I'd rather it be worth their wait than mine. THing is, as it stands I don't see how that can possibly happen with the glacial update pace, performance improvements that aren't, and bug fixes that don't fix their intended targets as often as they create new ones, etc. WHile that stuff is moderately tolerable in a beta, release products are something else entirely, and we don't have long to go there.

I like seeing the 12 v 12. This should mean that the "Community Warfare" will be the next level. Maybe, we will find out how the command module will work in the game.
