I've lost count of the number of times large sections of back armour have turned to yellow (or in orange in extreme cases) through some careless r'tard "practising" with his weapons. Why do they do it? Honestly, why?

Back in early closed beta, I had a dude report me twice for "getting in his line of fire". Both times he killed me, it was about 3 seconds after the match started and he'd alpha'd my Jenner with his Atlas. Why? Because someone asked about Diablo 3 in the first match and I said it wasn't worth the money, in my opinion.

This. I simply do not get it. At the extreme beginning of the match, if you wanna make sure your lasers are properly mapped, okay... But even then, use the training grounds. What kills me (in a figurative sense) is the guys running around shooting the AC and missiles and whatever else. First of all, it wastes ammo if those weapons use ammo. Second of all, their poor fire discipline makes me think we have contact with the enemy. Shoot at bad guys so I can see where the bad guys are and shoot them too. Third, it potentially reveals our position.

Well, I have a 3 year old son, who I don't let play except in the practice grounds. I suspect that some of it is coming from children perhaps who just want to shoot the guns, maybe can't read. Dad or Mom should be not letting them play live games or overseeing when they do so they can be sure to teach proper team respect and that the kid understands there are other "real" people trying to play too.

Maarek, that's probably a good point. I like to let my kid (about the same age as yours) help me build "robots" and sometimes I'll let him shoot on training grounds. Might be a fair amount of the problem, though.

I've seen a few times someone accidentally shot his teammate (due to whatever reason), and the teammate then turned around and fired non-stop till he's dead. Even wasting ballistic ammo on him. Absolutely pointless.
You have to note though that not everyone play this game 'seriously'. Some just wanna joke around, doing silly things like firing lasers into the air. They might even be children who think that's funny. Is that a 'wrong' way of playing MWO? Lighten up, it's just a game.

Currently, there is no better way to convey your weapons loadout to your team. You can type it, but that takes too long. It's actually easier to identify your enemy's weapons than it is that of your own team. Ridiculous!

This is true, but why should their "not serious" style of play negatively impact those who wish to be serious? All in all, shooting your weapons into the ground or air is relatively harmless and sure, it's just a game. I don't get it, really, but I never said that it was a "wrong way of playing" and I don't believe that I advanced my position in a method that would require me to lighten up.

That's a good point, Raving. I hadn't considered that and you're right in that there's no good way of conveying that. If I bother to at all, I typically mention that I'm carrying LRMs or something similar to that. It would be nice maybe, to be able to lock onto friendlies in order to get more detailed info. I asked a guy who was driving around a Jagermech what his loadout was but he never replied and he was killed before I saw him fire.

Look, I myself have accidentally fired on a friendly, but I was very quick to apologise and explain; so when I am fired upon, I give the benefit of the doubt, and allow them to do the same. However, when the culprit continues aiming you up, then fires on you again, well there is absolutely no reason why I shouldn't be entitled to defend myself.
I don't mind if there are those that don't want to play 'seriously', but that doesn't give them a right to team kill; and at the very least, I should be able to defend myself without penalty (even if the penalty is next to nothing).

Or a simple 1 minute lock "Betty: Weapons Offline" for any player who damages an ally in the first 60 seconds of a match.

Wasn't something like this in the works?
Was once outright grief-TKed. Guy and his friend started shooting at me. Outran one, but the other pursued and I had to choose between dying and killing him. So I stripped his CT armor and shut down, to get the coup without the penalty.
But that's not what most of this is... it's mostly newbies and people with controller issues.

if you kill a mate you should be rethink your aim anyways
this makes you atleast swear a bit and try harder next time
and to the point of TKing who want to do that
if somebody attacks you in your team leg him
or stripe his weapons off
wich should be too payed with 50.000 CBills
for Team DAMAGE
in a TEAMGAME there is no space for ppl shooting funny
at there teammates and should be harshly dealt with
