When you jump, for that literal ONE second, you are vulnerable, and you are shooting at someone who has BEEN vulnerable. (Unless you're doing synchronized prancing with another poptart)
Any time you're able to shoot directly at the enemy, they're able to shoot at you. Poptarting is the most removal of vulnerability one can do while still being able to directly engage an enemy. Whether it involves skill or not is a matter of opinion.
Some people think it's the ability to aim. (I call that "mouse accuracy")
(I personally think the skill in this game is knowing where to be and when to engage the enemy and destroy them with minimal damage to you- I don't think Poptarts are included in that because they're not out-maneuvering the enemy, they're camping behind cover like a pillbox or a bunker and popping up to shoot momentarily.)
It also allows them perfectly to abuse the currently OP PPC..pop up, shoot enough PPCs to heat up (should actually make your mech MELT) and drop back down behind cover, invulnerable to recover the heat. Due to light weight, no ammo restriction, small size, they're boated easily for poptarts.
TL:DR
I don't think poptarting includes skill. (I don't think PPC boats include skill either)
Poptart was just a particularly effective way to abuse the currently overpowered PPCs.

Was it THAT problematic to all but completely remove it? No.
Again I just started running a highlander, and I just used it and still killed stuff without dying yet. It is mildly annoying that I got this crazy shake, but I walk over that same terrain described nearly no shake.
So no when I get 2-3 kills in a poptart, I should get adue credit for being skilled right? Afterall I will be dealing with extreme shaking and random shots missing for no other reason, while the ground pounders have no disadvantage and missleboat get to just sit in the back lobbing missile at what ever target someone else spotted for them?

Yes, you will get credit for killing someone with a crazily aimed weapon. Or... you could wait until you start to fall and your reticle settles down. Brawlers have to close in on the enemy. Risking exposure at weapon ranges that don't work for them. LRM boats are weak now. Lights are still lights. The game is getting better. Just don't whine when a comparable advantage is nullified.

Oooh, he gave his credentials and gaming resume too.
Please. Just stop crying. And stop pretending hopping up and down behind a rock was sooooo skillful™.
This is an awesome way to summarize things.

LoL why you so mad?
The poster before questioned my play time in previous Mech titles and I posted a response. Try not trolling and contribute. You won this day for getting a nerf, sure I'll give you that much, other than that baddies will be baddies and the rest shall march on.
One aspect I meant to bring up was the Aimbot'ers and such that won't be effected by this one bit.
I would love to see in one of these patch notes some real effort to rid us of these.

As bad as jump snipers got it was the stalker that won the assault vs the world.
Hey man, running those Stalkers in assault vs. the world was hard work!
(and you're right, the sniper babies will move to them until they get nerfed, too)

You know you're argument is pure troll bait when you resort to "lingo" busting right?
I'm sorry I struck a nerve and you were destroyed by some poptarts. Unfortunately I wasn't one of them because I just started using a Highlander. No worries I'm sure we'll cross sometime in game, and I will be sure to remind you of the results when ever we cross again.
Count on it

Needs tweaking.
You DO realize that the pilot is IN THE MECH, right? You're not actually sitting behind a keyboard remote piloting a drone. Jeez, its a wonder the Devs read anything these days.

Pick apart?
You offered up nothing but opinion. My teammates and twitch streams can vouch that I did not run a Highlander until VERY recently, I can also provide video evidence of very little shake if any while running around at said speeds previously.
You said this was a "necessary" fix because you were not skilled enough to out shoot a poptart.
I haven't even begun poptart'ing and I still hold a high kill to death ratio and win percentage. Poptart'ing takes as much skill as any other tactic. When you jump, you expose yourself to EVERY enemy player in visibility. To jump, find your target, hit your target, and return to cover without being damaged takes skill, if it didn't everyone would be doing it, and everyone would have crazy high KDR's.
You CHOOSE to brawl or missile boat because you've got to have your target in plain open sight (unless missile boating and someone spots it for you) is NOT skill. It's "Let's line up face to face and see who packed on the most armor and weapons".
This was not a necessary nerf, but if you're gonna do it, then let's be balanced and add it across the game. This argument will always be your's or mine, trying to make your point any more right than mine is irrelevant, why so emotional?
As to MechWarrior 4, I played Vengeance and Mercenaries pretty much for the past 12+ years in league competition (VL, SL, BZ, MWL) logging THOUSANDS of matches at and against a high level of play / competition.
What's your experience?
Funny how you say I offer up nothing but opinion when the same can be said for you as well. I also said, sure running really fast could use some more jittering effects, I also stated how one can realistically avoid shaking and shimming to much over rough terrain. I also stated that this is a game first and for most and thus realism takes back seat to balance.
You don't need a Highlander to poptart and do well, my crappy little Raven 4x proves that, and it can be nearly as damaging as an Atlas ramming its big old foot up some ones hind quarters, which was the point I was trying to make, that you either missed completely, ignored, or thought really nothing of it.
Also, it requires far more skill to brawl then to poptart as you have to maneuver and play the terrain to your advantage, where as poptarting is jump up, fire, and have gravity pull you back down, that's not skill.
I commend you for doing great with out poptarting, however, your attitude is not welcomed.
I have been playing with BT toys and playing Mechwarrior 2 sense I was 8 years old, I have played all the PC games, I have even played the BT game on Sega Genesis where you run around in a Timberwolf, I have played the TT when I was able to understand it. That is my BT/MW pedigree.

And I'm the immature one? Again, wait till we meet on the battlefield, I will be sure to plaster the results aboard.

I don't have an attitude, I'm actually pretty chill for the rhetoric being thrown my way for wanting some shake to walking, which is the main reason I posted. He is obviously ******** by being sniped to death, that any mention of tweaking the new in place system gets his ******** puckered up.
As for the "bolded" part, I can respect that. I never made that assumption about you, yet you made one about me. We are all talking opinion here besides the one guy trying hard to cramp my style.

Did you even play this game? Not being hyperbolic, did you? 50-75% of every ******* team was jumpjetting snipers, and you're ok with that? Seriously? Unreal.

Oh, that explains things. Poptarter 4lyfe. This guy's legit, man. He uses memes and competitive gamer lingo. Totally not a walking stereotype.

Hell yea I poptarted when the map dictated that it was best I take one. Who didn't?
As for MWO, Jenner is my best mech, followed by a the Hunchback (4P and 4SP), then a K2, then Atlas.
I was also a 3rd Person View player, but converting to MWO's strictly 1PV has been seamless and enjoyable.

Believe it or not, there were people chatting "THEY CAN'T POPTART ANYMORE! CHARGE!".
When you have idiocy on a colossal scale like this, it no longer becomes possible to balance for them without breaking the game for the rest of us.
Protip, I no longer need to use JJs when you're coming towards me in the open
