The Dragon's designed to carry a bulk of weight in the form of a Ballistic weapon, but the Quickdraw is riddled with energy and missile hardpoints... that means a larger number of lighter weapons, like MLs and SRMs... and Flamers if you want to really go there. The Quickdraw can mount more Flamers and it can fly. :)

The Quickdraw is definitely more dragon than the Dragon :)

Is that a good thing? Who wants any Dragon? :D

And Dragon is arguably more quickdraw than Quickdraw, being the one with an actual gun. :D

Speculation on the potential "Hero 'Mech" for this one:

Quote

Mechwarrior Ivy Upsalom

The head of Upsalom's Support Lance of Redjack Ryan's pirate 'Mech force, Ivy is also known as "The Ladykiller". During a raid, she monitors the enemy's tactical frequency and picks up on the female Mechwarriors, challenging them to personal combat in her Quickdraw, the IV-Four. Upsalom claims she is the best woman Mechwarrior in or out of the Successor States, and no one has lived to prove her wrong. The Ladykiller has more than 30 combat kills to her credit.

We think alike sir. This is going to be my big daddy CN9-A. Just give me a variant with 3+ missile hardpoints.

EDIT: Oh, and it will go as fast as a CN9, have more armor, and have jumpjets. Depending on in-game model size and hitboxes, this could be my new squeeze.

Yes. People keep saying this one will make the Dragon obsolete - I don't see it. While it does have similarities to the Dragon, they pale in comparison to the similarities it has to the CN9-A and CN9-AL's zombie builds. If any mech will become redundant due to the Quickdraw's introduction, it will be one of those two. Probably not the A, since the ballistic slot does give it more versatility, but the AL? What point will it have after the Quickdraw shows up?

My first disapointment with art direction here at MWO. The upper arms are far too long for a quickdraw. Also whats with all the crappy mech love lately Jaeger/BJ/Flea/Quickdraw... reallyPosted Image

How can you be dissapoited with it? I get people who don't like Centurion's anime look, I get people who dislike teh fact Raven was transforumed into a pointy brick... but here?

Does anyone know if there are avaible variants with 2 Energy hardpoints in each arm? Because if there are, my FLAME will become obsolete... Because if the QD's arm and torso range is close to the CND's this will be a freakin awesome Mech... Which makes me sad, since my DRGs will start to rot in the Mech Bay then.
Otherwise, if they rely mainly on torso mounted hardpoints, I wont spend a penny on those.

Looks like it has huge side torsos. That could make it somewhat different from the Dragon.

To me it looks like it has very balanced proportions. So there isnt one part easier to hit than another, offering a way better survivability and damage spread than a Dragon, where you always hit the CT no matter from where you shoot at it.

I just hope the whole torso won't protrude as much or the upper arms won't be as thin as the art even though it looks great. It looks like it'll be too easy to hit the side torso even when facing fully sideways to someone, which would be suicide on XL engines. Might be worth trying some kind of Zombie Cent build though if the hardpoints allow it, as the destroyed side torso would work as shields like the Cent.

Well, speaking as one who wasn't really planning on getting an Orion, glad to see new art, it was a total surprise, and you do great work as always, Alex.
Also, that story, strait out of the Trinity Wolds, fitting for a FWL mech with that name.

I see what you mean, but to be honest, I think the new version just plain looks better. Even more to the point, it's still recognizably a Quickdraw.

I always thought the Stalker's re-design was just awful, though. Just looks like a giant Catapult :\

It seems that no one noticed the near-subliminal implacations of the fiction. PGI just made out a Lone Wolf to be "BAD TO THE BONE!!!" That has to be a first! Could this be the first step towards a Lone Wolves being treated like a big boy club? Like a house that belongs to no house? Perhaps someday, we can have a banner and stuff!!! After reading the announcement, I'd be cool with an ashtray and cigar butt to set on my dash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as I am concerned we already have a banner.
Spoiler

This mech will add to the game. It has a good load out and the jump jets make up for being slower than a dragon.

I love the fact that PGI is using mechs that are always considered the best looking. That mechs that rarely, or never appeared in MW. The decision to use these mechs allow Alex to get creative, and bring new life into otherwise looked over mechs.

I think the quickdraw will find a place in the game just as the trebuchet has.

Wow did you guys hire the writer from Blizzard who wrote the story for Diablo III or what? This level of writing is right on par with those who write with crayons and that's exactly what happened to Diablo III. Hope you don't count that as a good thing, but, anymore.... I don't know, you PGI folks just might.

Man, that ship has sailed, and I really don't recomend swimming after it.

Unless you can prove you can do better, I would suggest not bashing other peoples work, and I get this strong feeling that you're incapable of writing anything close to as meaningful and worthwhile.

Great Mech, great story, greatly looking forward to it's release.

the quickie is more like a humanoid catapult.. its got the same hardpoints as a catapult C1

for your argument to have any base the "story" they wrote would have to be meaningful and/or worth while.

it might one of the varriants (I'm guessing the one used in the story bit) has 6 energy hardpoints, it could either be 2 in each torso one in each arm or 2 on each arm one in each torso (but I'm guessing the former)

My projections of this mech:

1) many people will run XL engines and it will die very quickly like a dragon
2) the center torso protrudes like the highlander and it will die very quickly like a dragon
3) the shoulders are too small to shoulder damage and it will die very quickly like a dragon
4) people will boat 3 to 4 ppcs, but it still will have an XL engine and die very quickly like a dragon
5) it's 60 tons like the dragon and will die very quickly like a dragon

;)
