Wrong.DirectX11 won't bring in **** other than better performance if the devs don't implement Tessellation and all that fancy stuff. This all needs to be coded. You don't flip the Dx11 switch and every piece of eye candy it supports is in the game.

You are also wrong about people with lower end systems not being able to play the game anymore. If they are smart they will release a DirectX11 client and even if they don't as Adridos said it won't make Dx9 unusable so if you still got a Directx9 card your game will still run just fine.Dx11 is backwards compatible so to say you just won't have all the DX11 eye candy if they ever implement it.

I just want my graphics back that we were promised and that we had for a long time. The mech models and terrain look like garbage compared to the old terrain and mech models.Just give us a ultra high option and stop downgrading your graphics PGI!Everytime i see LRM's flying now it kills me inside because they used to look so awesome, now they are just a glowing ball in the sky.

this is how the game should look again for people that are able to run it.At least give us the old LRM's and old mech models and textures back.I supported THIS game and not a game that looks worse the closer you get to release.

Yes the video first introduced was fantastic. PGI did a fantastic job right out of the gate with MWO gameplay and graphics. No doubt. There was a distinction of movement with the mechs and the drawn out battles were full of adrenaline. Perfection. I truly hope they go back to those graphics. This regression is disheartening to see.
I watched this over and over again and visually its so much better than the game currently running.

Holy crap the LRMS and SRMS actually looked good before 0_0, and the way the LRMS launched was better, why the hell did they change that?

Because while that looks cool the missiles didn't hit as much. Its the same reason actual missiles don't fly around all over. What works in Anime doesn't really work in real life or even in simulated real life. At one point the missile cloud corkscrewed before they gave in and just made them fly straight. Also I'd like to point out that the new explosion graphics are way better.

PGI a question. Will you be allowing those with high end systems to take full advantage of the engine? In other words reverting the graphics back to full fidelity that the game USED to have and allowing it as a choice for those who can run it ? I sorely miss those early graphics and the game hasn't been the same for me.

Mechwarrior is not COD nor is it anytime type of game that suggests what I call the man in a rubber mech suit syndrome ala Mech4. Slow speed translates to large scale which translates to better immersion and the feeling of piloting a big machine.

I don’t mind the graphs toned down for matches but the mech bay and trial area should be ultrahigh settings

Another video showing how amazing the mechs and terrain used to look back in CB.Just look at the Atlas texturing and the Hunchback model in the very beginning. The mechs used to look real, now they look cartoony and pixelated in the distance imo. This must have been an incredible amount of work the designers put into making them look so good and realistic.Such a shame this is all gone. Please devs, put this back in with the DX11 patch.

The core gameplay of MWO is better than the vast majority of games on the market today. It's fun, it's challenging, it's visceral, and it's pretty. It's got actual colors, and isn't that a trick these days? >_> There's a variety of weapons, plenty of mechs, and the mechbay promises to get larger and larger. Throw the devs a bone, would you already? It's an OPEN. BETA. Which, come to think of it, is just a formality given the fact that you can be sure the devs are going to *continue* slaving to improve their game past the beta phase.

While I definitely agree on the point of a good gameplay, I have several objections about graphical side. Actual colors? What?? We have one prevailing color for each location, and everything else there is in the shades of grey. The colors is what suck the hardest in MWO, right after the scale. But it wasn't always this way, if you look at the videolink below.
And if you were reading what the devs say, you would have known already that OPEN BETA is not going to stop or change with the so called ''RELEASE'' which is not going to change anything to become some big event.

Thanks so much for bringing this video up. I almost forgot how it used to look. For the love of Blake, THIS VERY landscape now is totally grey, bleak, desaturated, lifeless! It nearly hurts to see that the trees looked actually like the trees back then, and the ground had grass of appropriate size and some yellowish sand. I feel the urge to watch this video over and over. It wasn't perfect back then, but it was looking way, WAY better than now.

But there were downsides too that can be seen in the video. Super-thick motion blur that was making game terrible to play, it looked totally unrealistic and it was impossible to do anything when you when you started to get shot - the screen was becoming all blur. And the second one is burning-white laser effects on mechs. That was the time when I had to quit MWO for a couple of months, my eyes were hurting every match and after (I have no troubles with them anywhere else) for these two reasons. When I was back, the laser effects and blur were fixed, but overall picture quality was gone too.

P.S. I pray the best of the older graphics will be back in the nearest future. Because as of now it seems like the graphics is dumbed down to get MWO to the Xbox 360 level. And no matter how I hate it, devs never said anything to disprove xbox portation. Recently, when asked about MacOS portation, they said that it is only intended for _Microsoft platforms_. And it is scary, as I'd want WMO to look good.
I run a kind of outdated PC about minimum requirements for MWO, but it was ok and totally playable even in CBT with MUCH better graphic fidelity.

Dayuummm... just watched that with led zeppelin on the radio. It was awesome. Why did Forest Colony have to turn into such a butt ugly stormy mess? I hope the island city that's slated for development looks as bright as FC did back then.

I don't know man.It was my favorite map in CB because it actually had some color to it unlike the other maps where the art direction is horrible imo (one color filter over the whole map).River City for example. It's like this map has a "Instagram sepia filter" over the whole map.

Like this...

Sure they wanted a dirty industrial look for the map but i think they could've done that better.

Yes I also forget about that one. I tell you I was so pumped to play in CB days. The visuals were stunning. The shrapnel and explosion details were amazing and very immersive. It seemed the tempo of the battles were just right as well. I am very passionate about this and I truly hope they give us those graphics back. The current graphics as I said have taken on a cartoon like look overall. With collisions gone too this makes the MWO experience as it stands flat and very fake.

This is yet another argument in favour of implementing a 1 mech v 1 mech Solaris arena mode. So we can crank up the graphics to max AND have a true test of piloting skill without dumb team mates and premade teams constantly messing up the experience.
