. Don't make me laugh by comparing the two. This is little more than a mod and frankly I've played several better.

ROFL

If this is "little more than a mod", then please explain to the comunity why they regularly have to recode basic elements of the engine at a very deep level to get things to work properly (HUD Bugs, HSR, MASC /Speed Limit....).

In 4 years of CS development, I can't remember Gooseman altering the Quake /HL engine even once.

... I'm sure the population exploded after open beta and i'm sure its now back down to closed beta levels due to two metas worth of hell.

Did you take a whole year off??? Becasue you`re "conveniently forgetting" the LRMpocalypse 2013, followed by the ECM-Blackout, and other truly game breaking metas that made just as many crybabies quit as any other one, of which you apparently have a hard on for squashing 2. Ironically the ones that are currently the least game breaking in the overall scheme of things, those being the recently nerfed low-skill snipetarts and the still underpowered ddue to previous nerfs but slowly improving streak/splatcats.....

Or do you perchance drive an atlas D-DC with no short range weapons and are now getting your panties wadded up because you can`t carry 45 LRMs AND ECM anymore, and your lack of movement speed and teamplay makes you an easy target for fast close range mechs, and are now dying regularly because they are starting to cause actual damage again? Inquiring minds want to know...

Some points are valid observations but dont take into account the bigger picture. i am guilty of this from time to time.
Developing a game or product is like steering a multi million ton tanker through a mine field. you have a huge amount of momentum to over come and lots of mines you cant see... some you can and PGI has hit them.

streak cats only have 40 points of armor on the ears each. one alpha from a good design and your hitting internals.
streak cats excell in close combat..... only..... its a trade off between long range fire power and doubled up on short range alphas. its a valid design. it takes some degree of risk and skill to use/ knowing when to strike and not simply go ..ta da i'm in an OP mech fear me.....

yes PGI is a bit slow in reacting... they have chosen to follow a monthly update. so big changes happen monthly. yea that's a long time for PLAYERS..... its amazingly fast for anyone in development for any field. i think they made the correct project management decision to structure how things are going to go from when ever till 6 months after clan launch.

At that point a reboot of the game can be considered only if things are making money. yes the games got issues but it also has immense potential.

Funny little thread. So much anger ^^ tasty XD.
But letz get serious.
First, its still Beta no matter what some players say. Thats Fact and u cant do anything to change this. btw. its turning into f2p standarts to sell things in betas.

Next: Costs ... ever played other MMOs like Star Trek Online where a "NOT" Accountbound Ship (only char bound) cost around 30$ thats BETTER then every same lvl freeship. Or World of Tanks where a T34 premium tank cost around 50$
F2P Titles have extrem pricetags and MWO makes no exception.

Next: Splatcats are not a problem anymore. Srm are currently little underpowered but not many. Problem is if they up the dmg, Splatcats would rule the world again.

My overall feedback to mwo:
I like the new DMG balancing. Currently i run mostly my hunchbacks catapults or cataphracts with no boating setting and doing a great jop with it. Sometimes i also use my splatcat but 6x6srm+artemis in the back of a raven and only make his back armor orange make it realy hard to do dmg.
Its a little hard vs some Highalphabuilds but overall i have fun to play with the Dmg balancing.

But why i dont play everyday anymore if i like the gameplay?
Im finished my reachable goals. I have maxed all mechs i like from the IS. I mastered : 3xAtlas 3xCataphract 4xHunchback 3x Catapult and everyone have engines and perfect equip for my playstyle without spending any mc in normal mechs or xp.
Im waiting for Community Warfare to build up my Corp and capture planets.
Im waiting on my loved clanmechs (brace for clanhaterimpact)
After reading that the Clans "maybe" comes 6 month after launch i losed my motivation to play because none of the remaining IS mechs of this timeline is nearly my taste.
But still, i think PGI make a great work. Never had so much fun with my old Mechwarriorgames in multiplayer. ( Old mechwarrior games had realy too extreme alpha builds)

Things "i" want:
Community Warfare
playable Clans
Replay function
Things they should make to get money from "me":
Buyable Visuals like Head, Shoulders, Torso, Feets

But thats only my Opinion

How many hours of Free entertainment have you gotten from this game?
What's the name of the game studio you run? So we can compare your allocation of funds.

Let's go look at the horrendous meta critic score for this game.
What? It doesn't exist
The game is still in BETA

This game is FREE.

Yeah you're right. Ken Levine implies that it's much less. That makes the 20 million suggestion for MWO look even more ludicrous though doesn't it?

You must have read a different article. He didn't imply anything but saying the number that the New York Times has is wrong. How much we have no idea. The fact he didn't give a number implies they weren't off by that much if you want to play imaginary read between the lines.

Dear PGI, the community and I are very tired of the current meta. Alot of players have stopped playing because of the SRMcats and in the early days when SRMcats started ramping up all we got from you was "Shoot off the ears, guys!" ~ Community Manager

Not only did you alienate most the community when you left SRMcats virtually unchecked for the longest time.

Not only did you effectively kill the community when you blew up General Discussion.

Not only did you churn out so called "sales" when the game was so broken and con 40 year gold founders who don't know how to vote with their wallets because they played the first mechwarrior games and nostalgia'd so hard that they threw money at your feet.

Not to mention, where the hell is all that production value for the 5 million you made off the founder's program, cause I sure as hell don't see it.

The community is tired of poptarting and they've stop playing because of it. Just go in 8 mans and you'll get "Fail to find match" a least 3 times. If that doesn't tell you the state of affairs then I don't know what will. Maybe me griping some more?

Why people are leaving:

1. Weapon balance is out of wack because min/maxing.

2. They feel alienated by the community manager.

3. Price of MC is too steep, its F2P, its suppose to be MIRCOtransactions not MACROtransactions.

I can go on and on but I would start raging at that point, PGI.

With rage, a player since closed beta.

Blowing up general was a bit dramatic when it got shattered so bad, but the game is getting better, most just feel their cries go unheard, but maybe the voice of reason is drowned in a sea of whining.

I feel you overreact and blow things out of proportion, i run a medium or heavy and never get failed to find match.

:)

Damn you PGI for not micro-managing the game mechanics to mitigate every conceivable level of abuse!

In order to placate the "community" the following must be done immediately or I will hold my breath and stamp my feet!

- No one likes poptarting = nerf JJ.
- No one likes snipers = nerf accuracy.
- No one likes high alpha = nerf heat cap.
- No one likes LRMs = nerf them!
- No one likes PPC = nerf them!
- No one likes SRMs = nerf them!
- No one like ECM = nerf it!
- No one likes boats = nerf stacking slots.
- No one likes min/max'ers = nerf customization.
- No one likes macros = nerf them.
- No one likes to pay for paint. = nerf it.
- No one likes the current profit mechanic = nerf maco-transactions.
- No one likes same/similar mechs = nerf 97% of the possible mech stable.
- No one likes paying for anything = F2P should mean F2P!
- No one appreciates forum controls and miss the chaos of general = nerf the forum!

There... I fixed everything.

Welcome to the new MW:O... We have:

- One generic non-descript mech with 1 slot for energy weapons, 1 slot for ballistic weapons, 1 slot for missiles. Also comes equipped with ECM, BAP and a XL400 that is impervious to damage.
- Only one weapon can be fired at one time.
- All weapons have no min. range and no max range.
- All weapons inflict the same damage value, thus are "balanced".
- There is no weight classes and as such teams are perfectly "balanced".
- Elo will be displayed for all to see. High Elo players will have a "worship" button, while low Elo players will have an "abuse" button.
- The F2P mechanic will be removed and replaced with an Adware program and we will need to click through 4 pop-up advertisements prior to launch as well as a rotation of ads in our mech-lab GUI.
- The forum will be nuked and replaced with a single forum category called "general" and will be completely unmoderated.
- Paint will be free for all to use. It will come in two colors: red & blue.

Yes... This is absolute unbridled sarcastic hyperbole. Enjoy your new sterile, hermetically sealed, beige, perfectly balanced, completely free F2P game with absolutely no challenge beyond deathmatch attrition.

I don't have a problem dropping money on games, but I haven't put a dime in MWO since my founder pack because there hasn't been anything worth buying in that time frame. Camo and paint and cheap cockpit items, plus the occasional Hero mech are not anything I would spend money on while waiting for new maps (and not day/night versions either) and new modes of play.

They've asked for feedback about things you WOULD spend money on. If you haven't already done so, that's probably valuable information for them.
