Tetris uses a system where you get a new elo rank after you get five stars. You can win or lose a half star depenind on how good or bad you do.
MWO could emulate this by dressing the stars to be in likeness of stars to generals. For what ever rank you are you can be given accolades for doing well, or lose accolades for doing poorly.
Win= +1
top 4 match score= +1/2
bottom 4 match score= -1/2
Loss= -1
Mech destroyed= -1
Create 30 ranks, and once you hit 5 ranks you level up, set match maker to let you play with people with in 1-3 ranks at the start, with in 5 ranks in the middle, and with in 10 at the top or
1-5 play in a group, 6-10, 11-20,20-30
Or how ever you want to tweek it, and you are golden.

I've read through most of this thread, and I want to point something out.
First, I'm not an excellent player. I play with friends in group drops mostly, and I'm probably average when it comes to skill. I don't poptart, and only recently have I resorted to min-max builds because my team is trying to be more competitive.
Point I'd like to make is that this game is being geared to competitive game play. Scores are important, because that's how the game will determine from now into the future, how players measure up. That's why ELO was introduced, and it's how it works.
I understand you don't like the idea of playing only for stats, and I understand your point of not liking to be matched with new players when you feel you have more experience with that, but unless you start focusing on those stats, you're not going to go anywhere, plain and simple.
We don't need licenses, that's what ELO is for.
The people here requesting to see your stats are trying to help you, however rude they may be coming off at this point due to their heated interactions with you. I assure you, if we could see your stats, that would help us sort your problem out.
And if your stats are good, and ELO is still dropping you into matches with low experience nublets, then I suppose you should be contacting PGI with a support ticket to report that ELO is not functioning properly for you.
There you go. Help us help you, pal.

Before I meander off topic more, PUGing is always a big gamble apparently no matter the game, be it WoW ME3:Multiplayer or MWO its just how things work if someone can't handle that they should try to socialize more and hook up with some friends to at least make a partial pre-made.

And 10K drops was my conservative number. very conservative. My elo is where it should be, its how A **** tonne of peoples ELO scores have dropped severely now that they don't manage 3+ poptart kills per match. How is this so difficult to grasp, for soo many people.

You're not being taken seriously because you're complaining about being in a low Elo bracket after thousands of drops and we aren't.
So.. if you are stuck in a low bracket after thousands of drops, and we are not.. does that make your predicament a result of the system that you are demanding change to.. or you?

There are not any people that were bad players then became really good once poptarting entered, now are sinking to the bottom of the ocean.
The problem is that this community has an anti-competitive, anti-play-to-win attitude so people feel like improving just means becoming one of the hated, "boated," cheesing," tryhard hipster COD players. So stupid. Its like being a new basketball player and looking down on NBA players calling them elitist cheese-players.
The real trouble is getting to the top Elo, and not having any real competition outside of the 100 or fewer players that are legitimately great at this game, and you can only find them with any consistency in premades. What we need is lots and lots of people to get better at this game, stop acting like nobody is better than you, make Elo public, and drive the community to improve.

Man Im done talking with you, All you do is say low ELO this, low ELO that, Didn't I say earlier on that it was not every drop, not every mech and not every pilot. Again this is due to the meta game changing so drastically. But im guessing that ones gonna fly way over your head too. Im saying that the turbuance of ELO with this whole metagame change is ******* me off. DO U GET IT NOW. Dammit son, I am not going to try to explain this through your thick skull 1 more time.

Can you be done talking to these boards as a whole? In case you failed to notice, the attitude you have been given (and have earned, I might add) is not a simple lack of respect, but active disrespect. Your attitude is that of a child with an over-developed sense of entitlement that just found out that winning isn't always easy, so you blame PGI, the matchmaker, other players... Everyone but you. And none of us here are getting paid to put up with your bull. So either buck up and get better at the game, or GT*O. It really is that simple.

If it's due to the meta game changing so drastically.. why is it happening to you, and not me? (better jump up and catch that one, don't let it fly over your head.)
I'd really like answer- since you seem to know.

No, this thread illustrates why we don't need it. We can already identify with reasonable certainty the source of his complaint.. without a public rating.

You know a good player does not blame Pop tarts, Elo or Cheese for their failure at game play. They look in the mirror and point their finger at the real problem.
