Seriously I rather fight a superior team in much lighter stuff than an inferior one in the heaviest any day, anyway. Skill can only make up for so much over resources.

15 second wait for MWO match: OMFG!

For example, we were dropping yesterday with 2 centurions, a jager and a raven. This meant that half the time, we'd have 2 assaults in our team, while the other team dropped with anywhere from 4 - 6.
The system right now makes it very hard to balance between:
1. ELO
2. Weight
3. Long wait times.

The limit to waiting for a match should be closer to 1 min if you have epic ELO. As it stands, everyone is "easily" lumped in by the MM's standards... which tends to be pretty loose.

There is no weight class balancing at the moment.

That is fine if you are dropping in a 4 man, but with pure random dropping you don't know what the 8 other people are dropping.
If you had a staging area before the dropped happen so you could see what other people are bring and then switch out your mech.

It is VERY clear that pre-made groups abusing the system.
Hoping they will reply in "Ask the devs 40":

Looks like their Jenner pilot killed you all while you killed their cicada. Four of their mechs didn't do any damage, so you lost a 4 on 4. If you had won that engagement, you could have outmaneuvered and out capped them.
That lance was all together, the jenner just finished us all off.

If you drop in a Medium or Light mech, you better plan on winning by capture; You should assume the enemy team will have a Heavy/Assault mech for every Medium/Light on your team.

Yah right! Or you would like your Mech and demand someone else to change theirs.
We know where that goes from there. No thanks.
You take what you want and everyone else will as well.
Perhaps, attempt to play as some form of a Team, and see how that goes...

But it is also a ongoing process of fine tuning and balancing the MM. Also be aware of that your time zone and time of day are going to greatly affect the "fairness" of the MM. The less player it have to work with the less chance it have to make things fair.
