So you think the game is fine?
Or was that just an awkward 'me too'?
It's a hangover from the DDO forums. You know the game that was over and had low server population and was a niche game so it would never succeed and was shutting down it's servers in a month, no two months, well soon, oh well now for sure because of this new patch, and I see the same people in LFG so the server pop must be low, and no one queues for this raid so high level play is dead... and....
DOOOOOOOM!!!!!!1!!
Did I mention DDO just released a new expansion?

Ahh, sorry for my ignorance. Carry on, sir.

PGI had a competition free market on their hands. They had a built-in playerbase, most of them older gents with lots of disposable income, that would fork over ****-tons of money on a regular basis provided that the game gave them what they are looking for.
In my opinion they made a dumb choice by abandoning the old farts that make up the TT/BT crowd; at least this early. There is tons of competition out there for fast-paced clickity-click shooters. There is ZERO competition for Mechwarrior. Why put efforts into making a mediocre shooter in a sea of mediocre shooters when they were already on track to make the money-printing multiplayer Battletech that the BT fans have been dreaming of?

All 10,000 players will love it. (They're literally surviving on the core niche tryhard guilds...you can't get anywhere in that game without nepotism..)
Weird, I can hop on and solo some dungeons or run around with three friends and enjoy that -game- just fine. BTW, where are you "trying to get to"?

Nothing you will ever make, PGI, will be on the level of a battlefield 3, COD Whatever, etc... to the twitch masses.
Quit ******* in the wind and cater to the core fanbase of 30+ year olds that have money to burn. Derps.
(PS: that same fanbase that gave you 5 million dollars on the CONCEPT alone. Imagine what they'd give if you actually made the game you promised to make.)

The question is, did PGI intend MWO to become a unique sim, or just another shooter? According to my understanding of CW, it's no different than what other games have done before. So what is the NEW and EXCLUSIVE feature to MWO that will have all other game developers drool with envy.

But that doesn't necessarily mean that I'll be throwing money at PGI for a poorly made game. I'm just saying that I'll be here until the ship sinks.
I figure that a lot of folks started the beta and since it was so limited and it was so ... beta, that they dropped off and started playing other newer games or even returning to whatever game they were on at the time. Our group had several WoW friends who dropped off after a few months. It happens. Hopefully when they release CW and UI 2.0 it will lure back some of those folks. I do believe the CW will make or break it, and I imagine PGI believes that too. That's why they are putting a lot of time into it.
BTW, Did any of you guys play the beta EA Battletech game back in the day (late 90s?)? I hated to see that one die.

The ship will sink without people throwing money at them... that is kinda the reason so many people are mad about the player counts, and more specifically, the reasons for them.

Yea I read that. I also read removing the player count was a "business" decision. It can't be good business if the count is lower than their standards, hence it's been removed. Probably to avoid humiliation. Otherwise, if it is indeed "way up there", wouldn't it inspire greatness and well being for the community to know this game is alive and well?

Instead maybe you should embrace the new player concept. Help them and promote fair play minus the murder death kill rage team play.

If only they had a habit of telling the truth... and there wasn't like 50 things that could be linked showing them saying 1 thing or doing another.. or not doing anything at all. Not wasting my time pulling up all of em... you know exactly what I'm talking about.
