Huh. Having a hard time seeing this guy as only ten tons heavier than a Trebuchet, he looks a lot bigger. The legs especially look very Steiner.

Seems to be a trend. Remember the Centurion? Compare it to its concept art.

they already stated that the Quickdraw was further along in the 3d modeling so they pushed it ahead of the Orion in the schedule

The orion variants have very different looking arms that would require more modeling.
hopefully orion was pushed back to make these variants distinct looking (instead of using recycled mesh like we have been seeing lately - JM6-A's trebuchet LRMs)

The ON1- K in the concept art has 2 ML in both arms. However most orions have SRM4s on the arms also (so that would require a seperate arm model)
Posted Image

and the ON1-M if i recall has a LRM15 on the arm. Which would require a seperate mesh as well.

With all this time they are putting into it. I have a feeling the orion will come out amazing.

Would be nice if they moved those lasers into the torsos a bit more. Like in the concept art. Maybe it wouldn't be as bulky

Looks like you could probably make a "SuperGriffin" build out of the Quickdraw. The antennae even look a little reminiscent of the original Griffin's antennae (just add some shoulder baffles and I think it would be a dead-ringer):

there's a Reason the LRMs looked the same. both the Treb and the Jager's LRMs are made by same company in canon. Attention to Detail: 1. Ignorance of Lore: 0.

I like my lore a lot but even I have to say that is a pretty asinine detail right there.

no... This is an LRM launcher Posted Image
a LRM launcher does not include the armor or frame covering it.

by your logic all cars using the same engine should have the same body

You guys complaining about the orion looking clunky and ugly is funny because it is the notoriously ugly mech.

Anyway, can we get more game modes instead of more mechs? So many of the mechs are so similar now, there's not much point in buying new ones. I want to destroy missile platforms, destroy drop ships, capture turrets, capture and defend mech repair bays, etc. Mechcommander would be a good place for inspiration with this. (Mechcommander 1, not 2. MC2 was awful).

I'm curious as to how the 4G and 4H will be different, taking into consideration what's below and the fact that we don't/won't have rear-facing weapons.
  • QKD-4H - In an attempt to bring more direct firepower to the 'Mech, the 4H moves the SRM-4 launcher into the rear arc and moves the two rear-facing Medium Lasers into forward firing mounts. Otherwise, the 4H is identical to the 4G model. BV (1.0) = 1,006, BV (2.0) = 1,242[9

With this in mind it brings me to wonder why they chose the 4H variant to put in game as opposed to another variant that actually had real differences.

omg it put on some weight since the concept art.

They always do.

Sadly poor Orion could end up looking more like a taller Awesome at this rate.

Kidding aside, there is a trend of them bulking up (or being outright larger) when compared to the concept art. Would be nice to lose that extra 10% that they seem to gain in the translation.

I don't see it as a problem for hulking out the mechs. more logical for a multi ton war machine to be big, so it can fit the equipment and armor on a steel skeleton, wrapped in artificial muscles, smothered in crunchy goodness of armor!

Sadly, some MWO 50-tonners seem bigger than a Quickdraw.
