Can we please be a little less insulting?

There is a dedicated Discussion Thread in the Comstar Focus Group subforum for the implementation of 3PV. If you would like to discuss ways to implement 3PV, then that's a good place to do so. If there is anything you can think of that can preserve the game's integrity IN THE PRESENCE OF 3PV, which is coming (Brace Yourselves), then please present your ideas; listing out some criteria that will allow the coexistence of 3PV and MW:O in a productive manner is a great way to let the Devs know how you think the game can grow. Please don't use the thread to say "ditch 3PV," but rather use it to express your ideas for integrating it successfully. Successful integration precludes problem mitigation.

Please tell why should we be " less insulting"? PGI has been nothing but insulting to us. They hooked us founders into paying for a game we were all told would be a FFP sim game. Then they bring up 3PV and tell us it's just for the training grounds, then they tell us, it will just be an optional mode, now they are telling us that it will now be the primary means of play. They asked us if we wanted it, we told them NO and they still added it. They said "no" coolant flush "we said no coolant flush and then added it anyway. Every time "we" the community has spoken as one voice about something "we" could all clearly see would kill this game PGI has given us the big old middle finger on and did it anyway.

So again please tell me why any of us at this stage of the game should try to be less insulting and suggest anything when we have seen that every time we do we get the middle finger? It does not matter one bit if every single one of us vote 100% in favor of something they will still do what they want too period.

You can only get kicked in the balls so many times before you learn not to let someone do it to you again.

Founders got everything they payed for which was some premium time a varying amount of mechs some MC and early beta access that's it that's all they are/where entitled to.

You are mistaking the point of the founders program for some starter packet. You are wrong there.

Mechwarrior being the game i started gameing on this is a massive kick too the ballz after being told they wont then say (we came up with a nice idea for (useless mechanic) and even tho we said we wont we'er going too do it anyways)

You have no proof of this, you lack access to the data to use this as a valid point in your argument since a large percentage of the player base doesn't even come to the forums.

And you have no proof to the contrary, so you lack a valid point. There are many player-created polls on this forum, that overwhelmingly show that forced 3PV is not desired. Yes, PGI tries to bury these polls, but they are there if you look (and no I am not going to dig them up, so say what you will).

I guess when you go to a diner and order french fries and a burger, you would be totally o.k. with getting a soup since you came for "food" - no?
Founders had a pretty distinct kind of gaming-vision presented in which they believed... and got soup handed, so to say.

I WANT AT LEAST MY BURGER, IF I CAN'T GET THE FRIES. Thinking men's shooter my gluteus maximus.

Obviously there are many factors I am not aware of but I have to imagine they weighed the option of announcing the 'normal'/'hardcore' division against announcing the division along with a short gameplay video demonstrating the new 'normal'. I could be wrong but I suspect they felt a video would too readily contradict the gentle words used to sooth the hardcore 'sim-heads'.

We are gown-ups now. And who got dropped off at the arcade? Did you not have a BMX bike?

Glad you know your bible: I Corinthians 13:11 (NKJV), "When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things." Will let you ponder whether you think using bible verses to insult someone is the proper use of God's Word...

I don't understand why you are disappointed about:
  • 3PV being excluded from Mercenary Warfare
  • Additional Info added to Item Descriptions in UI 2
  • The fact that Lone Wolves will have their own Meta Game rewards, without having to swear loyalty a Faction
  • The fact that a Large Mercenary Corp won't automatically be able to steamroll through the IS
  • They plan on making manufacturer-specific weapon tweaks
  • More significant bases to capture
  • Base defenses
  • Introduction of Tonnage Limits for certain gametypes
  • Headshot notifications
  • Adding the ability to see friendly loadouts
  • Reduction of JJ Screen Shake to more acceptable levels
  • Added Training Grounds functionalities
  • and more upcoming changes with tournaments, Drop Modes, and info on the Test Server
I mean, if everything I just listed above causes you disappointment, then I am very sorry...

It's more of a "at what cost" thing. Sure you can't say you don't like those features, but I'm pretty sure they don't make the game more fun--let alone playable.

It is a bible quote but I assumed most here would recognize it from other places (like Ghost in The Shell). I did not use that to insult anyone, it was said to demonstrate my perspective that, though fun like arcade games, MWO should be held to a higher standard.
Personally I feel words are words, neither insightful nor inflammatory regardless of the source - I am sorry if you are offended.

To begin with the bible isn't a good standard by any means; and this isn't the appropriate place to use it as an argument.

Now back to the people complaining about other benign stuff.

I can say about half of that stuff should have been in the game before open beta, and I can also say that 3rd person should not exist.

I can also say that regardless of what PGI says, it's only a half-truth to what they will actually do.

And odds are we will be waiting a solid year for half of that stuff.

We love to love PGI when they hit gold, and we love to hate PGI when they fail. Just goes to prove how much we want this game to succeed in the end. That's all i'm seeing here.

When PGI starts making bad changes and nobody says anything, that's when you start to worry.

Draxist: Would the Dev's consider doing community survey's once a month or once every two months via email? Another beta game I play uses these to gain feedback en mass from the community upon specific topics or in general. The survey questions range from "is xy satisfying" or "rate how well you feel this mechanic works" to "any feature you want to see in game?" with a text box. I know the game will be launching soon, but even after launch, a community survey about features being tested or that are currently "issues" could help the devs in getting a better feel for what the community feels without all the forum rage.
A: We are doing this. We just haven’t sent one out to certain demographics of players yet.

Why has no one mentioned this on the forums? What 'demographic' are your active forum members?

I certainly haven't had any feedback forms emailed to me.

I'm gonna say wrong. specifically because they told people they had a vision for the game. What they planned, how they planned, and that they were gonna make the best damn mechwarrior game we have seen.

Quite frankly, they have broken several promises already, and there is no reason to even think remotely that they wont break even more.

They made promises to the founders. They did not keep those promises. That is the key point here, they did not keep their promises.

How many thousands of Gamers have only played MechAssault and not any MechWarrior titles? How many of us core players are going to quit when we still get to play in 1st-person matches? (Hint: Not one "core customer" is going to quit simply because other people in other matches are playing in 3PV). Heck, 1st person gets an entire gamemode to itself, specifically for the core players.

Adding 3PV to this game WILL draw more customers, there is absolutely no denying that. There are people who prefer to play 3PV games and that's what they are going to play. DO NOT dismiss them as "inferior" customers who would merely sully this game's pristine habitat. Adding more customers is what we want. More customers means more exposure, which means more customers... which all means more money and a better game.

I would like to hear one good argument about how adding 3PV will have a significant detrimental effect on this game. Everybody just screams "waiting queues!" but we also know that Matchmaking thresholds can be adjusted at liberty, and adding 3PV will add more players to the playerbase. The people who yell "Wall haxs! Looking around corners!" have to consider that a match of all 3PV players presents no advantages to anyone on the field (they all have the same perspective -> no advantages to anyone), and every single Mercenary contract will be fought 1PV vs 1PV (which, as we have established already, gives nobody an advantage).

Here's a few:
Lying to your player base, with whatever, is bad, adding it in despite heavy opposition is worse.

Splitting the player base is bad, or forcing players to use it to be competitive is bad (as in they don't stay separate, which I assume).

People leaving because they are tired of being lied to. Seriously. I remember reading ECM threads a long time ago, I remember the sigs and the colors, they aren't here anymore. People are playing less and less.

Wasting time on making it, even though there is no evidence that directly supports that players will join specifically because its in game now. Plenty of evidence to support the opposite.

Yeah go get a poll that shows support for 3rd person? Go make one, lets see how that goes.

No one will be forced into 3PV mode. I would bet that 1PV will still be the default even in "normal" mode.

And based on what PGI has said they are considering for how to implement 3rd person, it sounds like there will be disadvantages to go along with the inherent advantages. So I'm not even convinced that people playing in "normal mode" will feel forced to play in 3pv.

"Hardcore" mode would be for people that prefer that everyone is forced to play 1pv. An optional mode of course.

Optional? Like how 3rd person isn't going to impact us strange hardcore players that gave 5 million dollars for mech sim? Or that it shouldn't exist. There is no reason to assume what is being said is true when there is so much lying going on.

In closed beta I was one of many voices that screamed bloody murder every so often when changes were made.

Either I've gotten older, accepted the inevitable or PGI is doing something right because I'm playing more than I ever did in the past. The most I can do is voice my support, comment on what I think should be improved and wait and see what happens.

Someone posted something about manufacture specific weapon tweaks. Yes please! I want to be in a
Robinson Standard BattleWorks' Atlas with a Luxor Devastator-20 AC/20, etc. It will add flavor to the game without creating balancing issues.

While I don't mean to deny you your custom weapons Hex buddy, of course they won't/can't introduce new weapons without creating HUGE balancing issues. They are still balancing weapons introduced in Alpha stage. And just look at how long(er) it took them to balance LRM's (and while I think LRM's are fine now, there are still a few concerns by many).
