I suspect PGI will attract no more than a few thousand players with 3rd person views with very few spending any money on the game.

Those players will leave after a week or 2 of trying to play the unbalanced broken game MWO has become.

The end result will be a net loss of players due to the new players not sticking around and those of us who are against 3rd person view leaving this game.

At this point I almost want to see MWO die so another developer can get the license to produce the game the right way. Most of the dev work from PGI seems good but the decisions from the top are not.

I doubt very much that another developer would touch mechwarrior titles with someone elses barge pole, you'll get hawken and similar stompy robot titles. perhaps your forgetting this game, didn't get any backing for it, until PGi bought the rights.

I mean who is going to take this title on microsoft had it and did nothing with it..

Sony are dropping titles left right and centre, to concentrate on dull titles for their next generation console

bioware/EA sports maybe.... lolz

There have been years for a software company to say hmm we need mechwarior and it didn't happen, want ot wait 10 years or so for someone to have another go ?

This I think is mechwarriors, in this kind of formates, final fling its why I've raged vented and sulked and yet not turned my back on it, and continued to support it with my wallet.

the future for the mech warrior universe if this fails, are dull one dimentional browser games, or minigames with out of date graphics that are fan built

If this fails, the MW:LL devs could always start a new Mech game with a Kick Starter and make Mech Warrior Living Legends Online.

Sure, but we continue to chase off new players here on the forums and in game with murder squads and full exploit pilots who come here and rank on anyone not like themselsves. Not everyone is the same, Not everyone is driven to suceed at a game in competion, Not everyone wants pretty clan panties or bobbles in their cockpit. Not everyone spends their time finding exploits and using them with abandon. And not everyone wipes out pugs in less thant two minutes and goes GG at the end.

Once the game destroys itself with the help of the Mr.Perfect compete at all costs players the obit will read Ponzi scheme goes bad, suckers everywhere. Film at 11, nevermind.

Does World of Tanks do anything special to compete? First if you build MWO as a FPS knowing that WOT exists with 45 million accounts you got some issues. cause if 1% of there player base spends $10 a month, that's 4.5 million in revenue and you go after the FPS, COD, TF2 fan base god help you.

Not sure how you dumb down MWO. Maybe if we combine all the weapons the mech caries in order to form a super boated version and when it fires all the shots hit the EXACT same spot. Then id call that easy mode/dumbed down for the masses or elite i cant tell the difference....o wait....

Its called a 6PPC stalker, a 40ac JM, a 70lrm+artemis stalker, its called 8man assault premades trolling PUGs, games allready dumbed down, 3Pv isn't going to break this game anymore than it allready is

Ermagerd! Teh Gamz is Borkd!

Guess you'll be looking for a new game soon.

Then I can flip the switch and turn off all of the bugs and balance issues.

Their last kickstarter fell about $760,000 short of their $800,000 goal. I don't think the community has enough money left to give.

Yeah, in all honesty, if MWO flatlines the Mechwarrior IP is dead to rights for at least a decade and at that point it likely would not be relevant to enough people to come back to life via crowdfunding. This is basically last chance for it. They have a good chance to pull this off, but they have a lot to do and do well by Sept, that is for sure.

Was talking with a friend recently about 3PV and why they are adding it. Within the PC market there defiantly isn't a call for external views as we expect and want FPV more for the realisim and immersion. The scary part is the possibility of adding 3PV is to add more people to the MWO community and not necessary the PC market. They said it was going to be PC only, but then many things that weren't going to be added are on the way. And what would be a required feature if this game was going to console ....... 3PV.

What are you talking about, Wandering Samurai never had a kickstarter.

You are arguing that the game needs to be dumbed down to the lowest common denominator in order to succeed?

She's not arguing that. She's arguing that the small, principled core of an already low-recognition brand is not enough to sustain the game by itself. I find it hard to argue.

The about-face on 3PV was obviously a mandate by IGP, not a PGI decision. In the meantime, if an individual is truly acerbic and pedantic enough to threaten to quit a game ON PRINCIPLE without even bothering to test the feature or even see what it looks like, that's not on PGI. It's on the player's attitude. Righteous outrage should be spent on far more important things in life.

And frankly I don't buy it anyway. There may be frustration and tooth-gnashing, but somehow...the player will just...find himself continuing to play and spend. It'll just happen. I'm calling your bluff, Khrushchev.

The idea that new players can't figure out first person view is nonsensical.

Seriously. It's a stupid argument.

If this happens I quit. 100% quit, I'm already taking an extended break until launch. I'm pissed off at them and their Pheonix crap when so much isn't done. I might even quit over that, who knows. This game is heading for the *****.

Mr PGI..... we missed you. You like what we've done with the place? That's why the rest of us are just going to enjoy the show, because we already know MWO is going to die.
