I have two daughters and a wife, plus work responsibilities, etc. I cannot get on MWO at a specific time every night. When I do jump on, and hit up my company's channel, the worst feeling in the world is seeing four of them already in there dropping together (and by dropping, of course, I mean playing the game together, not disrobing from the waist down, though that does, unfortunately, frequently happen) and knowing that I'm the odd man out and there is nothing we can do about it.
Here's why it sucks: (no 5-7 group, not disrobing)
1. There's already a group. I drop alone. You can't currently drop with 5-7 players. This makes me sad.
2. Someone feels bad and leaves group. This makes me feel bad too.
3. Or, we split group and run a duo and trio. This makes me feel divided from my team.
No matter which way it goes, what we are being told is very simple: PGI does not care if you play with friends. I cannot believe this is their long-term strategy.
Now, in the past, I can see why ~maybe~ they don't want folks dropping together. I'm not sure I've seen this problem in any other game, but apparently it is such a devastating one that PGI doesn't allow it to happen in their game. Whatever - now that we have the illustrious elo system that has come into our dark lives to fill it with rainbows and unicorns, I cannot see why (other than the glaring brightness of the amazing unicorns) we cannot go back to dropping in groups that are not 1-4 or 8. Elo should, if working properly, still fit the groups together in such a way that everyone is evenly matched. If not, the system is still broken and needs another overhaul. As for the lances - whatever. Put one of us in the other lance. It'll be fine. Better than in another game.
So, fellow trolls and other forum denizens, I bring it to you: Do you want to see the return of 5-7 man groups?
Also, in before the comms whiners - join Outreach on http://nogutsnogalaxy.net/. It's a free TS server and don;y be scared to talk to folks. Srsly, it's better than dropping solo, unless you prefer that kind of thing, in which case, well, there's really no help for you at all, now, is there? I think the Bronies may want to chat with you, though.
Thanks for the read. Let's, together, help change the world.
(edited to remove contractions. I hate contractions.)
