Hows the new Patcher working? Any major difficulties? Please let us know!

Patcher

- Transition to .NET 4.0 (XP users can download and install .NET 4.0 here)
- Various bug fixes

Installer

- Doing disk space check (5.5 GB)
- Typical/custom installation options
- Bootstrapper installs .NET 4.0 & DirectX9.0c

For those having issues with the installer, please contact us at support@mwomercs.com for additional assistance.

download speed is not the fault of the patcher... it's the server. :-)

but is there a way to patch without "copy pak-files to patch folder, unzip, replace, zip again and copy the patched file back" ... my HD produces smok after each patch ^^
what about to do this in the RAM? so you only have 2 operations on HD: read pak file into RAM and write back from RAM!
Download = 100-200BM ... largest pak-file is 900 MB? unzip "on-the-fly" into RAM + 1GB RAM usage... zip again after patching + 900MB usage = ~2GB usage ... where is the problem? ^^

I'm still getting corrupted .pak files each patch (7Zip reports that a particular file in the .pak is corrupted, the game will crash intermittently with a "Can't ready 0 of 128 bytes" or similar message). This patch I tried fixing it using the repair tool. It downloaded a new Objects.pak file (which has gone up in size from 500MB to near 1GIG over the last three patches) but afterwards it was still broken, but with a different file inside the .pak being reported as corrupt. I re-downloaded the .pak manually and all .pak files tested OK. My next step as always was to create a back-up on separate hard-drive, however after that copy one of the .pak files in the back-up, a different one, was now reported as being broken.

So at this point the game isn't even running, and I get corrupted .pak files simply be copying a .pak from one of my hard drives to another. This might be pointing to some sort of issue on my end, I'm not sure. What I do know is I don't have any other issues with ZIP files, and PGI has confirmed there have been problems with individual files inside their .paks before.

What I would suggest is that the repair tool reports which files in which .paks are broken back to the main server so that this information can be routinely gathered and the .pak files fixed. You really need to get on top of this as this issue has been around for months and not everyone will go to the hassle of fixing things themselves. The repair tool needs to be incorporated into the patcher, too.

Installer froze with insane disc access at very end of process.

Windows 7
Did uninstall/new install

Can not turn motion blur off!
Can not access ScreenShots folder. Permission denied. Folder owner unknown. No amount of fussing will change it.

FIXED MY BAD!

Well, kind of not working anymore for me.

First try by just patching ended up with the patcher dieing at around 90% leaving a corrupted install.
MWORepairtool died while trying to fix corrupting even more.
i was able to log in after that though, giving me no graphics whatsoever in the client, just circles and closing down after switching through the guessed mechs.

then deinstalled everything and downloaded the game again. after downloading the patcher stopped working.
restarting the patcher made it patch now but it seems its stuck on finalizing patch now. nothing is happening for 15 mins.

kind of a shame, game was running pretty smooth for me be4 this.
i guess even if it finalizes now something will be corrupt again. i downloaded the game in 12 mins, the patcher is working for at least 2 hours now though oO

patcher downloads, starts to patch, then closes. Restart and repeat....Won't patch.

Repair tool worked. Looks like I get to download 5 GB every 2 weeks now.

5GB? What game are you playing? MWO has <2GB!
The only reason patcher does a space check (5.5GB) is because this space is needed for the copy, unzip, patch, zip and copy back operations.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong but its not working for me. I followed the direction, I clicked on the top right and selected use default, added the patcher tool to the Bind32 folder then ran it. I either get the memory allocation error and then it crashes to desktop or it just crashes to desktop.

All I can say is... whatever magic you have been doing to the patch... I hope I never have to use the MWO Repair Tool as much.

Usually some mega-file gets corrupted (like Objects.pak or Textures.pak)... but it's working better somehow?

Hopefully this will continue...

Newest .NET installed?

Got:
2 (SP2)
3 (SP2)
3.5 (SP1)
4 (4.0.30319 client)
installed just now...

Edit: I see there were some patches released 11 days ago for .NET, I'll apply those and retry

Edit2: Nope, same.

Edit3: I guess I could share more system info in case it helps. Not sure what all to share!
OS: Win 7 Pro 64bit SP1 (6.1.7601)
CPU: Intel i5 750
GPU: Sapphire HD 5750 (driver: 12.104.0.0)
Mobo: Asus P7P55D-LE

Edit4: OK got it working. It appeared to be trying to validate the x86 ms visual c++ 2008 redistributable as the x64 one. Removed the x86 one, installed MWO, then readded it and all is good. Hope I don't have to do that every patch...

I have version
2005
2008
2010
2012
installed on my machine, should I uninstall all of these? If I uninstall MWO will I lose my current mechs?

I'm not sure if you have the same problem so can't tell if uninstalling/reinstalling these would help at all. The error message I received pointed at these particular things being potential contributors but yours doesn't really seem to be giving you a clear lead :P

Uninstalling MWO won't lose you your mechs, though you'll have to reset any controls you've changed!
