The quickdraw and highlander probably share the same animations that's why they're so similar in size and shape.

Pretty much explains why we didn't get the orion, they haven't even made animations for it yet. Doesn't seem like a lazy cop out at all 0:

I don't understand why they would have to lie about it by saying the quickdraw was more friendly towards the meta or whatever the excuse was

Well the Artist provided a different excuse, but PGI just pretends that didn't happen. I'm surprised they haven't deleted his posts. Then again they continue to ignore and dismiss the forum so I guess they just don't even bother with a good cover up even anymore. That should worry people.

The orion wasn't intentionally pushed back, it hasn't been replaced

i just made the orthos for the quickdraw before the orthos for the orion, really thats it[/color]

2.5 damage SRMs might have made the quickdraw unique and useful

Subtle trolling?

I like the quickdraw for what its potential could be, but the sizing issues and no damage bugs going on are definitely holding it back from greatness.

just noticed last night that the Quickdraw looks very similar to the highlander. it's almost as if they used the same torso, legs and arms and just tweaked the model a little bit.

epsecially from the back you can hardly tell them apart...

i ll post some screenies later.

spot the difference!

Someone should post these pictures in the ATD. I know they won't answer it, but I know they will see it.

They are pretty similar indeed ..but topology and geometry of each part is very different.. while they may use similar bones and some animations, model wise.. there is no way one model can be tweaked into second (in this case)..so while they are similar, they are uniquely modeled ..at least mostly :(

Most of the "toxic flamers" have been here since closed beta. Do you know how much the game has changed since closed beta?

Not much, really, and the changes PGI has made either don't matter that much(map variant, air/arty strike), or is outright bad(ECM). Oh and it's both hilarious sad to see PGI struggle with LRMs for such a long time and finally when LRMs are balanced, it has almost the same damage as TT.

I was invited to closed beta..and while I didn't really had time to play it..I checked it..and yes.. I know how it looked ..I can understand frustration of average player ..but changes are huge ...sadly for PGI..most of these changes are under hood which players just can't appreciate and human just remember things they don't like..

Maybe it just because I am working with these things and even our company is sometimes under fire of our clients..working 16 hours per day ..iterating as hell to prepare system for future work yet this work is hard to understand by average people and they just tell you you are lazy and did nothing.. they don't want to see what you did..they will just point on things you did not.. and this is happening here and honestly.. I can feel pain of PGI.. maybe I am also annoyed on some people here just because they are using exactly same words like some of our clueless and entitled clients.

I see...backbone of whole MWO is not here.. CW.. I know people are waiting for this long time..but saying MWO didn't changed..well.. they made huge steps forward..it's just sad people don't see it. Also fact that every months is new content added (but of course..it's not what people want..so they whine and whine) is showing me that team is very passionate about their product and they want to deliver..

Seeing how similar the QD is in size compared to a Highlander, you can't help thinking they just used the same frame and remodelled it, quick and dirty: The Quickdirty.

Been using the QKD-4G heavily and number crunching the holy hell out of all three variants. Its cons heavily outweigh the pros (snerk), its very much like the dragon in that it needs a good pilot to really shine (average players and FOTMers will get crushed repeatedly).

Pros:
+ Can get VERY fast, has a nice cockpit
+ well balanced energy loadout
+can mount jump jets
+The 4G also has alarmingly fast arm movement allowing pop off shots at even the fastest of lights
+Has the capacity to mount respectable fire power, if other assets are sacked. (Such as jump jets or durability)
+PPCs on the arms make it look like Megatron
+The 4H model can mount three SSRM2s (slated for nerfdom however)

Cons:
- MASSIVE body, tall with a blocky torso and chunky legs even at peak speeds its hard to miss a QKD
- Jump jets weigh 1 ton each costing the QKD more of its meager free tonnage
- Stock armor is on par with a BJ, raising it to acceptable levels leaves it with about as much free tonnage as a BJ-1X
- Missile ports are poorly suited to mounting larger LRM racks and the current state of SRMs make them a poor use of tonnage
- While its fully articulate arms allow for a greater range of arm movement, they also take away from available slots
- May be considered a waste of tonnage when/if a total team tonnage system is introduced (its basically a 60 ton highlander with the firepower of a blackjack)

@ Xeno Phalcon

While the QD can go fast 106.9 KPH with Speed Tweak and a 360 max engine, it's the same as a Dragon. Except if you put in the jump jets, you lose the weight were a Dragon doesn't have to worry about it. Three of my guild mates last night were running in their 4H and me in my Dragon Flame. We all put in a 350 or 360. Of course I was faster since I had speed tweak already. I did more damage because they had jump jets in theirs which makes what they can carry more limited than me. Or I am a better shot.

Fast striker team go !!

Not bought into the new mech of the patch thing. I did get a quickdraw. Fav from back in tabletop days. Tried a few builds. None worked for me. Then I stopped and thought about my play style and redesigned. Now it is fairly effective for me.

275 xl 84 kph I believe.
Full armor
Bap
Ams and 1 ton ammo.
3 jumpjets. 20 meter jump.
Now for the terrabad loadout
2 er large lasers
2 small pulse lasers
3 streak 2's

Killer? No. Great within, my play style as, a stand off harasser. This build will only work if your not a charge in maxium alpha boat monkey. Requires thought to play. After playing my beloved mediums this mech isn't too much of a change for me. Quickdraw DOA? Nah. But it is not an ac40 jager either.
