Actually, the point (other than honoring her memory, which is the primary point IMO) was that a significant portion of the proceeds be donated to cancer research by PGI, at least that is what the community was recommending in the multiple threads about it. The family actually specifically asked in the absolute first post of the "For Sarah" thread and Facebook posts (or their statements to PGI, which boils down to the same thing in this case) that we do not offer them any form of financial support, but donate to cancer research, instead.

*cough* Yeah, I was think on the vein of 'donation in the name of'. That's what I pseudo-translated the thing I was responding to into. Le derp.

The Official Build should be out on Tuesday... believe that or not.

Artwork: I'm ******* swallowing my tears, having kids really does that to you, generally I'm pretty indifferent because the world is too much full of ****, but the unicorn with the wound-stickers really got me unprepared.

Loadout more like this:
max (-5 pts) armor, 3 JJ, BAP.

JR7-D(S)

1 ton of SSRM ammo is plenty for 2 launchers, the extra 1 DHS won't be missed too badly, and this way you gain 3 JJ-s which is invaluable and more armor which is cool.

Ammo and other things' placement is of course totally optional.

edit: I can't count argh.

Next week.

The biggest error here is that not all of the tonnage is allocated... so you could've added at least 1 JJ or max out the armor.

If you're going to make it a special build, don't disappoint.

Yeah, it's not like you can modify it like any other mech.... Oh wait.....

So you know, just posted by Viterbi, Staff Moderator. Edited to include link.

Quote

We’ve been overwhelmed with support for Sarah Parries, a 5 year old girl who tragically lost her life to cancer in Vancouver in May 2013. We posted a tribute to Sarah and cancer victims everywhere, which saw an outpouring of kind words from MechWarriors worldwide.

While Sarah’s family has expressed their deepest gratitude for the community’s warm wishes, we have also been empowered to create “Sarah’s Mech,” a special purchasable mech with proceeds being donated directly to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Due to the unique rules governing charity collection and donation, we have delayed the release of Sarah’s Mech briefly while we sort out the last of our paperwork. We had initially hoped to have this Mech available for purchase in June, but given that this is our first major sale for charity, we want to be absolutely certain that all proceeds are donated appropriately and to ensure that all Canadian and international policies are being respected.

Thank you for your patience while we get our ducks in a row. We’re really looking forward to raising money for a great cause and showing off this amazing Mech that will embody the spirit of Sarah Parries for years to come. Our new release date is scheduled for July.

You're paying real money for it. At the very least, it should be worth the money you're spending for it. If it were a C-bills variant, it wouldn't be an issue.

I believe we are paying money to support cancer research and honor Sarah's memory with an in-game memorial. It's no different than the 30 cent pink ribbon you donate $5 for.

Exactly. Except this mech will be extremely more useful than the ribbon. If the mech loadout bugs anyone so much, they can just donate $5. $10, or $20 to cancer research directly. :)

I'm buying it no matter what, and I applaud PGI for making this happen.

From this thread it states this will be a Hero.......but did I miss artwork? The only artwork I have seen was the picture on the Sarah thread but that was a Raven........

It's not the cause I'm talking about.

When partaking in any sort of charity telethon of sorts (big donation for something in return), most of the time they are trying to offer you something when you provide a certain level of cash.. for like say donating $100, you'll get a nice t-shirt+cap or something like that. If t-shirt+cap was massively disappointing (like, no effort was made to make it cool, not even a logo and it's just a simple white t-shirt), then it's not a really good deal.

Having said that, PGI is donating to charity is a fine thing, but you have to put some effort into the build, not just the skin, to make it worthwhile. Otherwise, it's really disrespectful to the charity and cause.

If the money paid went to a build that exploded easily by default, why would you bother? OF COURSE it can be reconfigured, but the idea that you took no effort into putting it together is an insult.
