Sorry, I'm not a delusional person who has to trick myself into thinking "OH THEY KILLED ME THEY'RE BAD I FEEL SORRY FOR THEM" so that i can escape both the reality of the situation as well as my own lack of ability and/or equipment.

you're calling them bad, and feeling "sorry" for them so you can continue to justify using a losing configuration, so you can justify not changing, because you're not only delusional, but youre selfish, and you sacrifice winning if it means pleasing your own ego. If you do not abide by the rules set in stone within the reality you play, if you do not do everything you can to win, then you're just meat in front of the grinder. The inflexible do not survive.

Admitting you have a problem is the first stage to addressing that problem.

We can do that here, in the comfort of the forums, or amidst the pile of your amputated arms and legs on the battlefield.

We are trying to be humane. Trust me, when the Clans get here, they will be less understanding.

^This.

It's the age of entitlement. Much easier to go on the internet and complain until they get their way than to come up with some different tactics.

A duel AC20 mech should be taken out at range.

Don't feel bad. Remember, we are doing this for their sake. They need to get medium range aiming skills if they're going to succeed over the longer term. It would be more cruel to let them continue with the delusion that AC40 Jagers are in some way normal.

What happens if I hit their XL while trying to take off an arm? Do I get bonus points, or get sent to the penalty box? :)

Come now. As someone who doesn't need to resort to AC40 Jager Piloting, I know that you have the aiming skill to avoid such an unfortunate scenario.

Killing AC40 Jagers won't solve the problem. They'll just spawn a new one for another match. Crippling them is the only way to give them the experience they need to deal with the real BattleTech world.

LOL. We could have something like a Swear Box.

For every AC40 Jager that you kill instead of crippling, you have to contribute a few CBills.

At the end of the year we could use the funds we've raised to establish a ''Halfway House for Jager Junkies''.

Yes, but only with the medium lasers.

Second, we should remove one - but only one - of their legs. This will get them accustomed to moving at the slower speed of an Assault... which is the actual speed which a Mech dealing 40 damage should be moving at.

Wat?

Points for funny, but that last bit there ... dafuq?

Got to agree with that... 40 points of damage only possible on an Assault?

HBK-4P

And thats with less damage than the stock mech (TAG instead of a small laser).

Apart from that I would agree with the OP. Personally I have less problems with them than some builds (most of them have multiple PPCs) or players with even less skill than AC40 Jaeger pilots such as the script kiddies with their AC2 MG... I mean the AC20 player actually has to aim before shooting.. the AC2 Script kiddies can shoot first and aim later.

I'll confess, there are two builds I have a special pleasure taking out:

The AC40 and the macro AC2 Jagers. Everytime I see those walking pillboxes my PPCs light them up.

Maybe so that they couldn't catch up to other mechs, so they had to aim better?

Really, the preferred method is the swift XL death. Bonus points for doing it with a Jager that's not boating 20s or Gauss. More humiliating for them to get beaten by what could only be an "inferior build." (pretend those are derisive finger quotes)

;)

Just side core them, they're not that big of a deal.

If you see me with one of these; i'm bored and feel like doing it. I can't aim worth **** and I know that and the only thing I can get right at the moment is a Catapult, but I sort of like to be a jerk and FPS games and the like aren't my strong point; especially because i'm in the cockpit of a giant robot and my spatial awareness is suddenly horrible if I don't have some type of third person camera.
Because if it's anything other than an Uziel I don't even know where my hitbox is. I'm just so use to the shape of the Uziel I end up having the spatial awareness of a brick when piloting everything else. :D
But don't worry, I love you too.
