Actually we do have 'jobs' in a drop if you want your team to win, but since you seem to feel different please remind me to just discon when I see you on my team and save me the hassle of the loss.

I digress.

If you have something constructive to add, do so. Trolling will fall on deaf ears here.

I don't know how about maybe don't throw your personal clanner tactics into a general MWO help guide. You were doing pretty good until the legging and honor fight bunk. Really, do you think it's better for your opponent to take one leg and then just leave him as a cripple and proably out of the fight - think thats fun for him/her? Just kill them, they can help in spectate or just Exit and move to a different mech.

again - don't advice for people to quit the match early, quitting early yields NO REWARDS since 2 patches ago.

this was done to counteract farmers.
keep giving out bad advice if you want.
but i'll have to correct it

You misunderstand, I threw the troll comment elsewhere.

Anyhoos, the legging thing is my opinion and i did state that. A few people in my unit actually agree. What I mostly do, is take the leg, then the torso. I give my opponent a chance to fight back. Only on a couple of occasions have I left a legged 'Mech alone, because I was running an SDR-5D and my opponents friends showed up. The second instance was being the last up and the only light, I had to get away from the opposing light to maintain the cap advantage. I legged the opposing Spider and left it floundering so I could cap another point as I was heavily beat up from the fight. That is sound tactical thinking.

There is always method in my madness.

Quiting early after being killed? I still get my exp on the occasions I do it - last night matter of fact. You have a link for this info?

Agreed, you still get paid no matter. I think the penalty applies if you DC IMMEDIATELY after the match starts, don't quote me though, I have not read anything to back that up.

I do not see myself as trolling, I am seeing this as sound points. Clanners are seeking this honor thing in the game, and it just is not going to happen.

Constructive...you want constructive, don't let people post trash like this. Again, this is a totally different game then what I have seen.

Honor has no place in this game. It is about killing your opponent, taking their planet, gathering their resources and getting more money.

If you think it is about anything else, then you need to pull your head out of the sand, or take off the aluminum foil hat.

Xiomberg,

Firstly, the troll comment was thrown elsewhere. I apologise if you think it was thrown at you.

Second I had absolutely nothing to do with the video of the honour fight. Posted independantly by someone else.

Like I've said. I'm attempting to create a helpful resource for new players in a concise and easy to read manner. A few personal opinions are involved granted. I claim to be neither right nor wrong.

Buuuuut, like what happened in the fan art forum when I was asking for opinions on a 3D modeling project I was doing for university, I got more grief than constructive comments resulting in the deletion of the thread.

If people want to help do so.

I'll leave this post up for another two days. If it falls further from being helpful and just turns into flame fest. I'll remove it leaving our new MechWarriors further in the dark.

TBH i really despair of the MWO community as a whole.....

Thats fine, if something is unclear or needs expanding say what and how. I've already updated several of the points and added three to reflect community input.

If new players have a list of bullet points on one page it will save them time trawling through pages and pages of threads, covered in rubbish more often than not.

I like. Many silly players doing many silly things. I think part of the reason for this is that these players come to the game expecting something else i.e. i can run around in a robot Hawken style just shooting stuff and going all Stalone. It is also part silly players.

I want to add four things:

1. If you see an enemy light behind your lines - DONT SEND YOUR WHOLE TEAM TO CHASE IT! This is the most stupid thing pugs do and will ultimately lead to a quick and humiliating death. Why? Because that scout can probably see your whole team, which means so can every other mech on the enemy team. As soon as they see you ALL fall back, they will swoop down and smash you with your pants down. Its a valid tactic that catches pugs off gaurd way too many times and it leaves me in fits of rage when whole teams do this! lol This relates to situational awareness. I will just say this - DONT TURN YOUR BACK TO THE ENEMY UNLESS YOU 100% NEED TO.

2. Assaults having Tea - A sure way to lose quick is if your lights, heavies and mediums take the brunt of the initial charge. What is more annoying that an Atlas with PPC's/Guass and LRM's sitting back at cap just firing LRM's? Wasted tonnage and wasted firepower. You pick an assault, play it like an assault. If your lights and mediums are doing more damage than you are then you need to do more for your team. Sometimes there are exceptions, but mostly not. You have almost or 100 tonnes of armor and firepower that can dictate if your team wins or loses.

3. FOCUS FIRE - Cannot emphasise this enough. I have seen matches where every player is chasing a different mech but the enemy just took them out one at a time. That round seven members of the team had less that 100 damage, that is how much of a difference focusing fire and having a free for all can make.

4. Protect assaults - Vunerable to lights and fast mediums, if your assualts are going to push, back them up! If your assaults are primarily LRMS's protect them.

Cheers

Thanks, I'll need to condense that a little.

Maybe create a subsection, for tactical play. Dangerous ground though, who am I to say what tactics to use and what not :D

My personal favorite is when a Highlander or Atlas has like 15 points of leg armor and I take out each leg in a 5 second period.

Remember kids, if you don't put ample armor on legs, some hungry, ravenous Light will come along and rip them off.

If they're a Heavy, they may actually go so far as to beat you with the leg they rip off.

(also, Koniving, we need to play a few matches on the NGNG server sometime)

Little late to the table but legging being dishonorable is a leftover mindset from MW3, it was in fact considered foul play in some leagues due to the fact that being shot in the legs generally caused your mech to fall over and become completely helpless as it slowly got back up after a short pause, if the netcode back then hadnt been so god awful (We used to measure 'mech lengths' to try and figure out where the other guy was actually at as opposed to where we saw him).

Clan zellbrigan has some strange rules but im pretty sure none of them accounted for shooting people in the leg. (Though some things were simply frowned on by the warrior caste for being dirty, like melee combat.)
