How many of you would agree to not getting any new mechs until the scaling is fixed?

If the scaling is good, I will buy the new mech.

Scaling isn't THAT far off for most mechs. Overall I think they are descent.

That being said, none of the new mechs interest me much *shrug*. I'm happy with my Cats, Hunches, and my Illya. I will occasionally take out the Misery and Jager, but I don't use them often at all.

I'm kind of in the same boat. I was initially excited for the Quickdraw but thats mostly blown over already. The Victor looks interesting as a relatively fast assault mech with ballistics and jumpjets but most of the time I'm just happy running around in my selections of Hunchbacks, Dragons or Awesome.

for those who didn't see in the other thread.

this is how messed up the scaling is in this game

Posted Image

honestly the difference doesn't need to be that big. the stalker just needs to be sized up maybe a bit

but this picture really illustrates how messed up the sizing is

No because at some point when they get the game more finalized, they can pretty easily do a scaling pass, just like they have done in WoTs.

I won't trivalize how much size and shape effects the overall balance of a mech because it is a fairly huge factor but even if the scale is a bit off, it is still fun to play the new mechs.

if they look bigger, people will want to buy them, that is the only reasoning i can figure out from PGI's POV...

I think the scaling is really being blown out of proportion for a lot of folks here. Anything larger than a Jenner is about as easy as anything else to hit for me. Hitbox tweaking, maybe, but really I don't notice any difference when targeting.

I sincerely doubt PGI will ever do anything about mech scale. If they cared, they wouldn't have released the Quickdraw at its current size in the first place, considering the hooplah when the Treb first came out. I genuinely believe that not one **** is given by PGI about mech size as a balance issue.

Honestly it would take like a minute to line the mechs up side by side and decide how to scale the new mech.

but it would take days to resize a mech after it was screwed up the first time.

kind of a no brainer.

Right? The lack of attention to such an important detail (at least, it seems important to me) makes me believe that they just don't even factor it in to their processes. It's so flagrantly obvious, there's no way they could miss the fact that some mechs are just waaaay too big while others are too small, if these were items for which they actively checked.

I messaged Dennis De Koning recently and he told me this

"Most comparisons, it seems, are done strictly from front view whereas we line up heavier and lighter 'Mechs and compare both front and side silhouettes with and without the weapons load-outs; in other words, the naked chassis."

What i don't understand is why they are stripping the mech's weapons to scale them, when a mech's tonnage includes all of its weapons.

(the statement that we use front and side silhouettes is not true, we also use volumes)

You're all just a bunch of bullies. Maybe eating is the only thing that makes Mr. Awesome feel good when everyone is calling him worthless and tubby?

Remember, every mech is special just the way they are because God made them that way.

Size of the mech aside, but your way to resize them by counting pixels and take a weight to that volume is flawed. Nowhere is written that mechs all have the same density.

especially the Orion is known for it's internal space which ease maintenance a lot. Think about a Smart car and full size sedan, both weigh a roughly ton but the smart is just half as big.

That said, size should not be defined by weight but by gameplay balance. It's the stalkers quirk to be compact (at least his name says he hides in bushes) so be it. If it is gamebreaking we need a tweak but not because there are so much pixels.
