I believe [the Goons would] get squashed by the real players in this game..the true mechwarriors

What is a *true* mechwarrior? Do they have real giant robots in their backyards?

I think he underestimates how many people, therefor how many different types of people, are in your organization. Because you can't deny you got your own battletech junkies in there.

How many goons made an MW:O account just to troll post on this? Or just start talking on the forum for this? Anyways this thread is still blowing up in my face, its fun and all but lets tone it down people.

Even though I quit EVE years ago, I still follow goonswarm's antics on the forums and twitter because it's usually better than whatever's on TV. Mittani has been spergin about some robot game for months, but I didn't give it much thought until someone linked this thread and the community warfare one. If people are getting this excited before the fighting even starts, then this game might be worth trying out.

We only have those junkies in preperation for this day. I and those like me have only immersed ourselves in the lore of the BT universe, and learned the rules of the TT game just in case someone decided to make an mmo based around it. Prinz Panne pinned the tail on the donkey.

Lowtax has only one true rule: "Goons go forth and ruin mmos."

So say he, so say we all.

Goons are Terrible at any game they participate in just ask them they will tell you.
They also will keep the game stirred up and interesting.

They took on Band of Brothers in EvE and made the game worth playing.
In WoT they pretty much own middle Europe.

Yes they have thier paws in pretty much any game worth playing. Fight them and make a game of it.
But never trust them. They will infiltrate your clan if you are a threat and use what ever means necessary to cripple or break your spirit.

just saying, I respect the effort they put into what they do.

Do the goons have like sub factions that have different objectives? Like secret service compared to the regular army?...

this goes to Goonswarm... the case of that was accidental friendly fire or oops I slipped (repeatedly)wont be believed and to everyone else: Goonswarm CAN be beaten (Potbs for instance one of the games i play) but they dont like it, they call u cheater etc which makes beating them even more satisfying (obviously they cant handle skilled players)and they will make note of your name and try to hunt you down every chance they get, using wolf pack tactics......again if they go down this road thats fine there are many SKILLED old time mech gamers on here to whip'em..... oh by the way, we all carry BUG spray:)

To everyone thinking that goons won't absolutely curbstomp everyone just because they don't have the numbers advantage I have something to say:

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

They are way too ******* good. I had a game the other day where I got matched against 3 goons in the enemy team. They hid in a corner of the map, let their entire team die, then, in a 7x3 situation, legged everyone using super fast Jenners (XL engines i guess?) with flamers. After said trashing, one of them started doing something he defined as "teabagging" by repeatedly turning his mech on and off on top of our metal corpses, the other one slowly destroying every part of our mechs except the core and the last one went to cap our base.

All of this while saying stuff like "Lowtax does not forgive", "Sweep the leg", "Thou shalt cripple and humiliate your enemies, says the Word of Lowtax [tenbux]", "Bathing in the glorious tears of mercy of your enemy is the greatest glory you can achieve - Lowtax, 4:20" and finally "Imagine 3 Jenners on a cliff. Say the first Jenner jumps on you and starts spamming his flamer. The formerly second Jenner becomes the third, the third becomes the fourth, and the fourth falls off the cliff - Johnny, 55:55"

We are doomed. And theres nothing we can do to stop the swarm.

While I am very skeptical you are telling the truth (there is no organized Goons beta presence), you do realize IF you are, you're kinda admitting to being in the beta? In breach of the Non-disclosure agreement?

I would like to state that my statement about wanting to squashing the Laios even faster due to Goonswarm joining them is due to just how powerful the goons can be, not due to hating them. At the start they may not seem like much, but as soon as the they get their feet wet enough their powerful capacity for logistics and tactics will make them a power to be feared. I do have to say that their even being in this game is going to make thing exciting, a match against goons is most likely to never be boring.

Could I join? These goons seem like my kind of people.

"So You Want to Join Goonsquad -- a Guide Written by Someone With No Clue What He's Talking About."

Rule #1: if you have to pay them to get in and/or stay in, you've been had. All companies hire hoping the new guy can do a job. If your only demonstrated skill is a willingness to pay for inclusion, your permanent job title will be "ATM".

Rule #2:Your first job qualification is to be good enough at something GS needs that they come looking for you.

Rule #3: Begging GS for membership like begging for close physical relations from a sociopath pimp. Your best hope is to be ignored.

Their empathy for you equals the black queen's for a white pawn. GS has no concern for fellow humans in the game because there are no humans in computer games, just avatars played by humans. Human-wise the absolute worst thing they can hope to do in MWO or Eve or WoT or whatever, is to turn you back into what you are now. An ordinary person without a playable game account. And even that's most likely not possible.

Were I so inclined to join, here's how I would go about it.

1: Learn everything possible about Mittani & Co.
2: Learn everything about the game mechanics of MechWarrior
3: Know all stats, strengths and weaknesses of every variant possible in the game.
4: Run an outfit that wins and takes territory.
5: Train daily with 11 buddies to beat a professional vetran MechWarrior team of 12.
6: Beat the GS unit.
7: Keep having fun
8: Say hi when the GS ambassador shows up with an offer.

Note that steps 1-7 are a good plan for all top tier players. Though not looking to become a member, if I'm going to play in a game universe with the MSS, I'd better try to understand them.

Here's an easier plan.

1. Pay 10bux.
2. The End.
