What I find ironic is the OP's use of the word "kid" so many times in regards to PGI. The OP's arguement is based upon utter speculation as to why / how decisions are being made, which is EXACTLY what a child does. The reality is that the OP is the one acting like a Child and doing nothing more then trying to draw attention to himself.

Like the OP's arguments about testers. I happen to know "closed testing" happens and the issue is not frequency, but the issue is focus on certain things that need to be tested. Of course, PGI already knows about the testing issue and is already fixing that with open test servers, and has communicated the same ... so why even bring that up?

I think the OP needs to stop "assuming" he actually know what / why decisions are happening ... that is what a child does. Frankly, as a software developer, I laugh at most everything posted on these boards, including much of the OP's post. People, in general, don't have a clue about how to develop software ... heck, the majority of people on these boards don't have a clue about how to run a business.

PGI ignores most all of you, as it should, because most all of you don't have a clue. Express what your unhappy about, make some suggestions, but until you have walked a mile in a developers shoes or borne the responsibility for keeping a company afloat ... sit down and shut up.

Most of you just need to grow up ...

Oh look. The type of person I made my sig for.

You wanted a game that appealed to a lot of people, you got a game that appealed to min/max power gamers who happen to also like the MW ip. Everyone else didn't want to l2play versus 4 mans of op cheese. MWO is ideal for this type of player. May they remain very loyal, and generous with their wallets.

I want to disagree...I just haven't figured out how yet... :)

i'm afraid to say, but you gamer guys are getting on my nerves.
Should PGI hold your hands little girls? you're like crying kids...

Daaaaad, can i have an ice? Daaaaaaaaad??? CAN I HAVE AN ICE???

Do you guys think they're playing with their balls all the day???
Let them work and shut up for some weeks.

It's still beta, it's free to play and now let them do their job. And they are doing their job great.
If they have news, you will get the news. If they have no news, you will not get any news...so they're working on the game.

and they announced new big things for july. so you have to wait for the news. play the game and don't get on their nerves, *********.

Oh look. Another person I made my sig for. With no likes on their post and one star on their profile. You have no credibility.

Good rant OP, but I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this line:

PGI has become synonymous with 'we're discussing it,' and 'we should have a fix for this in 30 days,' type of statements. Its part of the reason nobody believes a word they say anymore.

Ok point 8RR, but I'm going to have to disagree with you on that line. I follow all of the PGI Twitter accounts, and their number of "we're discussing it" tweets has been pretty low for some time now.

Easy. Break lore.

I mean, lore is one thing, playability and the spirit of BattleTech another. I'm a BattleTech lore nut, but I'd rather they made a game that feels like BattleTech and plays well than stick 100% truthfully to the lore.

To be perfectly honest, this game feels less and less like BattleTech with every patch.

Yup. I often find myself wondering...What would MWO be like if they said:

"We're going to make a game inspired by Battletech/Mechwarrior as opposed to one based on Battletech/Mechwarrior"

I guess the answer to that is "It depends on what they produced". I've never been one to say <comicbookguy>Ummm...'scuse me. I believe PPCs are supposed to do 10 points of damage</comicbookguy>. Calls for returning to pure TT based values a very, very very much few and far between. You nailed it, in my opinion. Make a game which feels like Battletech. It must be hard this far in to be tweaking fundamentals such as weapons values.

Unfortunately, we got some Elo fanatics that want to use it as an abstract to measure worthiness on this forum and set up their little country club of elitist hostility like in MOBA-land forums. I don't need to name names; you probably know exactly who I'm talking about.

Probably half the reason PGI don't want to release people's Elo.

So when someone disagrees with your viewpoint they're some kind of "white knight"?

Enough with the arrogant attitude that anyone who is enjoying something you don't must obviously be, for some unfathomable reason, a tool of "the man". There's enough of that silliness on the Blizzard boards... you can keep it to yourself sir :)

Oh, and yes communication could be more frequent. Still having fun, but the mid-term plans do feel like a bit of a mystery, particularly when I'm sure they have way more detail about the upcoming heat scale changes than they've shared.

No. When people come in to the forums and deploy one of the standard answers, while COMPLETELY ignoring the points as outlined by excellent posts such as this:

...These posts are like cookie cutout replies (Seriously. You tell from the first six words of these replies!) which basically boil down to:

I do think their communication is terrible and voted such. Its just really really bad. Not saying they should be reading the forums 24/7, but when you have threads with over 100 posts, huge numbers of likes and so on they should at least have someone glance at it to see if something is useful (they can glance at more too if they want and are not too busy.) A quick even one line reply like "working on that issue", or "we might throw that idea around some" can at least let the community know they are not being ignored and takes little effort.
(Would love to see a post of "Considering different convergence options and how they would affect the game" in a thread somwhere lol)

As to whther they are making progress. I went other: They are making progress on maps and new mechs, and it appears on GUI 2.0 (actually some communication on this topic last I looked: GO Bryan Eckman!!!!!!!!!!!)

on the other hand essentially everything they have done on weapon balancing is completely useless as until they implement some sort of heat penalties and convergence fix they will never be able to balance them. And after they do, they will need to rebalance everything. Also need to rework mech sizes and some other issues which will mean going back over all the work they did. So some parts of the game are progressing, and others really nothing is getting done.

On how balanced weapons and mechs are again I wrote other. Because while they sort of are semi balancing them it is all totally meaningless since the core mechanics behind them are crap preventing decent balance.

And yeah your wall of text rambled a bit, but wasn't a bad wall for all that.

Hah! Fair enough.

That said, these posts are met by an equal number of long winded rants about how the sky is falling. Or by cut and paste anti-PGI posts. Agreed though, they're both fairly useless.

I would contend that many of your white knights really have "just calm down and let the devs work, I'm having a fine time as it is" in their hearts (if not on their keyboards...).

The main message in the thread so far has been that communication is key. It is. If you are really a software dev and don't believe that then I certainly hope to never have the misfortune to have you in my team.

Communication is absolutely vital within teams, between teams within a company, to the wider business, to business partners and to your customers. I wouldn't expect every dev to be looking to spend time communicating on the forums rather than doing their job developing, but I would expect the devs and testers to be asking questions about what they are doing and the due diligence that is going into some of the decisions. Part of that relies on the company communicating effectively and I'd be making some pretty loud noises by this stage on any project, if I wasn't I'd be failing to do my job.

NGNG has been unable to be more than propaganda in the pod casts for a while, really. They refuse to acknowledge even the PPC Stalkers properly because otherwise they'd lose their exclusives with the devs.

It's a shame too. They are one of the few organizations that could probably be uniting the community and getting some attention otherwise.

A - You'll note they are NOT listed in my sig :P

B - The reason I mention it would be a good post to cover is 1) it's a good/thorough post, 2) the second part of your last comment.

Balance Testing is seriously the most :D one. Ouch. Garth man, if you happen to read this you seem like a cool guy but until you face the reality of the situation in-game and stop thinking it's "forum whining," things are not going to go well for you. :D Part of good balance testing is taking input.

A lot of people are burning out very fast because the balance you've ended up with is one-note, single-role and easily far and away the most boring meta MW:O has ever had.

It used to happen all the time, too.

Now, apparently even an overwhelming response like this thread has shown isn't worthy of 2 seconds of a response.

Community Management: If you ignore them hard enough, they'll go away (probably literally).
