The Blazing Aces presents: The Ace of Assassins tournament, this Saturday - June 29th! 3PM Pacific, 6PM Eastern!

The tournament will be a series of 1v1 bouts with spectators! Drops will be executed with 4 Combatants, 3 Spectators and 1 Referee, and both steamed live and recorded. Spectators are encouraged to record matches as well!

THE RULES
- Combatants will be pre-assigned a target before the drop. Once the referee has cleared all spectators from the field (Suicide) and calls go, they will hunt down and engage their chosen target!
- The tournament is bracketed and will continue until only 2 remain!
- Tonnage is capped at 80 tons, but is otherwise unrestricted! All weight classes may be paired with each other as the bracket size shrinks!
- All weapons and configs legal!
- Once you have chosen a 'mech, it must be used throughout the rest of the tournament!
- In the event of a tie-game, the party that did more damage will be declared the winner, unless the losing party has all components intact. This is to avoid "tag" builds that do damage and run off to hide!
- No ECM! This can impact other combatants.
- No firing on other combatants! If this occurs a referee will make a call about both a redrop, and if deemed intentional, ejection from the tournament.
- No capping! Causing a cap victory is grounds for disqualification.
- No intentional shadowing! Effort should be made to lock your designated target, and not leave lingering locks on other 'mechs. Doing so may result in a warning, or call from the referee.
- Matches may be fought in Assault or Conquest depending on success with synchronization, with the no capping rule intact for both.

SIGNING UP
If you want to sign up, simply reply to the thread with "SIGNING UP - Chassis - (Unit name here)." We will be accepting a small number of PUG/Lone Wolf players into the tournament, but are limiting unit entries to 4 simply to insure we can complete the tournament in one day if possible, two if necessary.

FAQ
Q: Who can sign up?
A: Up to 4 members of any unit can sign up! Limit has been increased, so everyone can join until brackets are filled! If you sign up as a Lone Wolf, we will be making a limited number of slots available. I will try to update the OP when these slots are filled.

Q: Why 80 tons?
A: Because I don't think watching Highlanders and Stalkers blast each other would make for good video! Realistically I believe that is what the final brackets would be exclusively if allowed.

Q: The end of this week? That's short notice!
A: 8 mans are being taken out soon. We don't have much time to make this happen without requiring an additional 4 people per drop.

Q: Where is this being held?
A: We will be on Outreach. I will update the OP once I know a specific channel to meet at! We will be defining the channels on Friday. You can connect to Outreach via direct TeamSpeak link HERE.


Q: What is the deadline to sign up?
A: Friday, the 28th.

Q: Once I've chosen a 'mech, can I switch it at later stages in the tournament?
A: You cannot switch chassis, but you can switch Variant between drops at will.

UPDATES!

The match TeamSpeak is now operational, thanks to Antonius Rex. Simply connect to the NGNG Outreach Teamspeak, and look for the Ace of Assassins tournament channel in the Marik section. We will be coordinating our drops there!

NEW RULE: In addition to no ECM, no UAV will be allowed. All other modules are acceptable!

NEW RULE: Once a judge has confirmed kills, all players will be told to move towards a Conquest point at which point they will destroy each other to end the match as quickly as possible.

HOW TO PLAY

Pick any variant and configuration of the chassis you have chosen (that is under 80 tons). The only illegal equipment are UAV modules and ECM, as they will greatly impact the other fights.

Once you are in TeamSpeak, you will be assigned a "drop team." The drop team will have 4 spectators, one of which acts as referee to the match for each team. The remaining four players will be combatants. The judge will assign each of them a specific target, as shown in the current brackets and confirm chassis before launching.

The drop will be launched in Conquest mode, but no points are to be taken. A victory by points will result in a loss for the person who initiated it. As soon as you are in drop, hold position and do not fire weapons.

At this point, spectators and the judge will kill themselves through heat override ideally, or walking out of bounds. Once this is done, the judge will call a 3 second countdown followed by GO or FIGHT. Once this occurs, you simply need to locate your opponent and destroy them!

In the event a tie match, the player with higher damage will be given the win, provided 1 or more components has been destroyed on the other 'mech. If no components have been destroyed, a reset will happen.

Once you have destroyed your opponent, power down and await judge instructions.

At the end of the match, or when the judge has tallied your results, he will instruct you to a specific point on the map (such as a Conquest cap point) where you will attempt to destroy all enemy 'mechs until the game ends, in order to end the round.

PS: There is no restriction on how you play, but a judge may call your position globally if he finds you to be actively avoiding engaging in combat. This will not be the case if you are making withdraw after combat has been engaged. This is purely an anti-griefing measure and to insure both parties do not decide to camp a location and refuse to be the aggressor.

Again, we will be accepting late minute sign-ups (within reason) so definitely join us tomorrow if you'd like to participate in any capacity, even just as a spectator!

Make sure to post which chassis you're planning on entering in so I can better adjust the first brackets - I'm going to try to keep balancing the tonnages against each other until the options get limited as the bracket narrows. If you haven't posted your chassis I'll be randomly bracketing you on Friday night.

I'll be in, depending on the response I get from you Victor regarding times etc. I'll be working until at least 6pm ACST and then probably won't be home until 7pm. Also I have no mic. This is potentially a problem no?

Originally to keep numbers down we were going to have a per-unit limit, but have since changed our policy at the extreme interest from a couple units.

Now the main reason is we'll be prioritizing members of your unit as spectators, and insuring they are on your team's POV.

Under the circumstance, I might try to inject you into a later bracket if we're still going by then, since I'm hoping to start at 3PM Pacific. Is that 7PM Eastern? That means you should get back within the first hour, so could place you on one of the by rounds.
