You cant be an expert of a game that you haven't played, even if you've been in the beta, I'd hardly call you an "expert" for playing a couple months earlier than everyone else.

He specifically referenced Battletech, not MWO.

So yes, the above would actually make you an expert on Battletech.

Then the majority of people playing it would be experts then, myself included. Going off of that logic.

That's probably also true. I had that discussion in one of the other threads that was basically the same topic.

Right now, the lions share of the posters are old school players, be it from the TT world, or the CG-MW world. When this game actually goes live and gains traction, I'm guessing we'll turn into a minority. I think that's when the real discussions/arguments are going to break out between the people who want to keep it BT focused, and the people who feel massive changes will make for a better game.

Edit: Basically, most of the arguments right now still hold a certain level of "magical" rules that both sides wouldn't change. It wouldn't even occur to them to change them. The gamut of what's acceptable is pretty small. I suspect the rules on what's acceptable are going to get a lot wider when the game releases, assuming it does well.

Its kind of inspiring to think we'll be the minority then, in a way, I mean hopefully we'll start having more fans spawn from this game. Resulting in a new wave of "experts" after us. But I'll be sitting happily in my corner saying "I remember back in the day" lol

The 'experts' are experts cos they played from the beginning ... which means they are older and more balanced :)

I'm just trying to state that I dare say that my mental health isn't entirely in balance.
Maybe that explains why Jinjiro Kurita is my favourite BT character.

I wholeheartedly agreed with the Kentares "Massacre" lol

As long as you dont like Katrina Steiner-Davion, or Devlin Stone.....then I'd question your mental health.

My point is: I hope we casual Battletech-fans, or even just "big-robot"-fans are welcome, despite not being able to recite the entire line of succesion in House Steiner. :)

Battletech has a compelling storyline and it does add to the experience. Admittedly I dont get into that sort of thing too much but rather just enjoy the online gaming experience and watch others recite the battle lore.

How does Kuritan crazy compare to Liao crazy?
Or WoB crazy for that matter?

Kuritan crazy (as in Jinjiro) means that even though he's crazy, he's still a military genius.
Liao crazy... just doesn't work out the same.

I guess that depends on the point of view. That Hanse Davion double was one of the best coups I have read about so far. Admittedly it failed by the slightest margin, but the impact would have been ... interesting. Instead of a Steiner Davion Alliance we could have been looking at a Liao-Davion alliance. Talk about winning the game without firing a single shot heh

Alright, Wobbies. What's your take on them?

Try the bluff that Theodore Kurita pulled on Hanse - Hanse didn't find out until a decade later.

Don't like it how they dared to interfere in our civil war. >_>
If they wanted to make an impact, they should nuked all those azami planets to yomi-no-kuni.

Just spend the odd afternoon clicking Random Page on Sarna.

I still don't know if the correct term is LBX-10 or LB-10X.

My 10 years experience with the BattleTech community on line (Heavy Metal Pro, Classic BattleTech and BattleCorps ie the TT crowd) has shown me that the community in general is a good natured helpful bunch. Every board has its share of Jackholes, but I have never know HMP or BattleCorps to be bad places... CBT On Line... to many people wanting to be important for my liking, but that's an opinion.

Yes folks take this franchise very serious. I've read pages and pages of physics arguments for jump cores and NeuroHelmets. Between folks who have lots more schooling than I do. I'm a former marine who fell in love with the 3025 images of Battlemasters, Marauders & Warhammers! I'm in the beer drinking, belching, Yahoo crowd! And we... make up a pretty big portion of the Universe!

Ask yer questions, post your thoughts and concerns, Have a little bit of a thick skin cause we're are a rough and tumble crowd. But take you licks, dish a few back and you'll have fun! Remember; "Life is cheap but Mechs are expensive!"

Just to clarify it for you:
It are LB-X Autocannons, and the class 10 one is called LB 10-X, although frequently re-labled as LB-10X since it saves a space and makes it more search-engine friendly.
Hope that helps.

I remember that he was playing high stakes there. Lady luck gave him a BJ as it seems :)
Care to translate the underlined parts here "they should nuked all those azami planets to yomi-no-kuni.", please?

Ditto on the LBX weapons. It's annoying how they are designated. Tell me LBX50 and I know what you mean. Way to keep it simple.

I have a question for the BattleTech experts.

The LRM 20 fires twenty missiles at a time but how many times can it be fired before it runs out of missiles?

6 times per 1 Ton of ammo.

1 Ton of LRM ammo = 120 missiles. So, for an LRM-5, you get 24 loads.

At least in TT rules.
