Jm6-A Jagermech Build Questions

Just wanted to get some ideas for how to build my JM6-A. I know most of you will say I shouldve gotten the gunboat. Reason I chose this is because I originally was going to get a Catapult C1 and instead decided that I can get better bang for the buck and do the same thing. I mainly do standoff support and now and again will close distance to help my unit out.
I was thinking of switching the Ac/2's out with Guass Rifles, and possibly either Lrm15+ artemis or outfitting with streaks srm's. Id keep the medium lasers or up grade to LL. Heat seems to be a big issue, so double heat sinks.
Should I stay with a std engine or go xl?
Thanks for any help.

i currently run my A with 2 AC5, 2 MLas and 4 streaks, its a very reliable build, good against just about everything, though its not a brawler or a sniper, its a mid-range support unit, and with an XL 280 or higher engine, its also fast enough for hit and run tactics. its also great as a wing-man for an assault, the SSRMs allow you to fend off pesky lights and mediums while the AC5s and MLas add good dps for direct fire support, plus the AC5s have great range.
the A is very flexible with good hard points, but you'll have to decide what role you want to play. if you want to use all the hard-points you'll have to make some sacrifices or mix your ranges like i have. if you want to use Gauss like the DD and S builds, you really won't be able to use the missile hard-points and will have a hard time having both enough ammo and tonnage for the energy slots. if you maximize the missile hard-points for LRMs like you might a Catapult, you won't have the tonnage for ballistic weapons.
if you want to drop the ballistic slots there's plenty of room on the A for 2 LLas in the torsos, and depending on the engine you chose, enough missile tonnage in the arms for 20-25 LRMs per arm, per salvo.
personally i think the jagers are wasted as LRM turrets, and much better as strike units, taking advantage of the ballistic slots.

I agree in generally. though i will say its make grinding xp easy. i ran my A with 2 alrm x 15, and 2 large lasers (or 2x ssrms and 2ml) just to get it unlocked. not as good as a catapult or stalker for lrms in general but they do make it easy to get it unlocked. you will not get a lot of damage but a lot of assist and usually a kill or two.
also xl is fine for lrms or sniper builds but if you want to be brawling in the thick of it it can be risky.

Pros:
STD Engine feels like a tank. Even in a Jagermech.
Cons:
You have to watch the heat but it's nasty.
If you want Gauss and SSRM:

I prefer the SRM because they don't need a lock.

My most used loadout before I turned in to a missile turret was was x4 streaks and 2 PPCs, kind of an odd mix of weapons but it was effective as hell.
As for XLs: I used them in all 4 of my yagers and as trade-off I don't ever use my yagers for front line combat.

Likewise you could go with LRMs and PPCs. You could also go with a single Gauss a some LRMs but I think the PPCs will get you better results.
Finally, ammo might be a little short but I've known a few people to roll with something along these lines. You'll be packing SSRMs, AC5s and Medium Lasers. Everything but the kitchens sink!

This is almost the exact build I use as well and its excellent at sustained dps, and eats lights and mediums for breakfast. I replace the standard engine with an XL for more heatsinks and ammo.

Basically this setup means your able to fulfill both the direct fire, and inderect fire support roles. Also possible getting alot of kill steals here and there... it happens

Yes, I know the engine is pretty small, it keeps me out of the front lines at the beginning of matches haha

or
2 ERPPC 2LRM15 artemis 280xl
The lrm version is a bit frustrating to use in pugs, since unless I get a LOS, it is hard to maintain a reliable target lock. Since i pug most time, i find the direct fire option to be more reliable.

2 x AC5 (6 tons ammo)
2 x LRM5 (2 tons ammo)
2 x MLas
315XL
Endo
DHS
Standard armor - Max, except for legs
Just stay back and crank away with the AC5s (there is plenty of ammo), supplementing with the LRMs when you can get a good lock. It runs pretty cool, so heat isn't an issue. I had buyer's remorse soon after getting the JM6-A, but it's really grown on me as is now one of my favorite mechs.

Long range support- put a couple LRm10's on, and some AC2's. maybe some SL just in case you run out of ammo.
LRM boat- meh, this is sort of a waste for the chassis. IMO, if you are going to spend time on a mech, do something a different one doesnt do.
Short range brawl- well any jager does AC40. Except mine. I hate AC40. But it works.
I run 2 AC5, 4 streaks, and 2 ML, as above, b ut i went with smaller std. engine for durability. I average 500+ dmg a match, but few kills. Engage with AC5 at range, open up with streaks AC5 and ML when you get in close. Dont waste AC5 ammo on lights, not when you have ML and 4 streaks. They will eat some of that and run off, or die if they are stupid. Also, dont be the front man. You are a jager, you need to be a little off to the side or back, and shoot at stuff that isnt looking at you, and help your team pals blow away their targets. You wont get kill XP like a PPC stalker, but you will get 4-6 assists easily if you do it right.
if you decide to go XL, i recommend going with ultra 5's then. But then you REALLY need to make sure you arent exposed. I run my DD with 2 ultras, and then 4 MG and 2 MPL with XL300. similar play style, support fire, but more fragile. You could do similar but with streaks and no MG on the A. It is a lot of fun, and when you have a good match, your whole team does.
I also tried 2 AC2s, 2ML, and then 4LRM5's. The LRM5 can be hard to target groups with as AMS rips them down so bad. But it is also fantastic suppression fire(especially chainfire, its almost non stop) and if there is no AMS, it is solid DPS from indirect fire. had a fantastic match a couple times with it, best was when a raven had a narc along(NARC, wth is that

Also, LOL at the suggestions of PPC and gauss. Gerderm, some people will stuff those things on everything. IMO, play the game with loadouts that fit the chassis closer to cannon, it is a lot more fun, even if you get fewer OMGKILLZ. K/D ratio =! fun.
