@tyr4nt: You are missing the fact that the locust is also 10 tons lighter.
So what if the locust is 10 tons lighter if there is no trade off for the decreased tonnage/armor/firepower? This is exactly why I say the tonnage savings should result in a tangible difference, higher speed or something else.

Your argument about making an assault mech with ballistics that can not hold a 20 also is invalid. The point of the different chassis is to be able to have DIVERSITY in the game. There is a reason that all mechs can not run 2 ac20s, and a reason that PPC/Gauss spam is considered a problem.
I'm going to stop you right there, you completely missed the point about the AC20 example. I wasn't saying ALL mechs should be able to outfit AC20's. I was stating that it's rididiculous that a 65 ton mech can outfit TWO while certain
ASSAULT mechs that
already have a ballistic hard point can't outfit
ONE AC/20.I never said all mechs should be able to outfit them.

I am looking forward to learning to run a new style of chassis perhaps one that is more set for scouting than light striking. Rather than propose solutions to a "problem" with a chassis that you have never ran in game... TRY RUNNING it before complaining!
I wasn't complaining. I even said my problem with the 1V wasn't the mech itself. If I was complaining about anything it was how the speed cap was hurting the mech as well as wasted 1.5 tons because it has to take 4th heatsink because it's limited to an XL170 instead of being able to drop a single heatsink and upgrade from an engine that comes with 6 to an XL175 that comes with 7. That's not a complaint, it's an observation.

By your argument I would be correct in saying no one should run the dragon because the HEAVIER cataphract and Jagers can do everything it can do, except they can't.... learning the different play styles afforded by the different chassis is part of what makes this game fun... If you want to buy into Pheonix do so.... otherwise quit whining or go find a QQ thread.
No, you wouldn't be correct in saying that because you completely misunderstood what I was saying. You're absolutely right in saying that the heavier mechs can't necessarily do everything the dragon does but a lot of that has to do with the Dragon being able to hit a higher top speed because it is lighter in weight which is the exact same point I was making about the Locust. The Locust could do something that the 5K can't if the speed cap were raised or if it could it could equip JJ's+ECM.
As far as your comment about whining, did you actually see the part where I said if there were some tangible trade offs like the speed cap raised, I would buy the Storm tier? I didn't once complain about Project Phoenix other than the fact that the mechs I do
currently want are locked behind a mech that I'm
currently not interested in because of the speed cap which is why I was asking if anyones heard anything about the speed cap being raised. If it is then I'd actually be interested in the 1V enough to take a chance on it and buy the Storm tier to get the Shadowhawks.
How about instead of making people explain things twice and having a knee-jerk reaction because you possess the reading comprehension of a small child, you keep condescending remarks to yourself? That was completely uncalled for when I was actually having a civil conversation with DirePhoenix. Pause and take a deep breath to collect yourself before hitting reply next time. Especially when the person you're failing to flame is actually trying to find something out that's pertinent to their purchasing decision.
