ROFL.

WTF?! Every time I go to the grocery store, all it is is a FRIGGIN MONEY GRAB!!!1!

I'm fairly certain MWO exists to make money...

at least at the grocery store when you buy a 12 oz can of peas you get a 12 oz can of peas.

sticking with the peas

mwo is like buying a 12 oz can of peas and upon opening it you get 10 oz of lentils, and you notice they are past their expiration date.

while similar its just not the same.

I feel like this package gives far more value then the founders pack did.
120 USD for 4 mechs vs 60USD for 12 mechs, and faction medalions.
I wish I had not purchased that and spent the money now.
If you could please add the loyalty bonus to the founders mechs, I think that would go a long way to helping.

This is good, they finally listened to all of us suggesting the selling of "unseen" mechs for $.

Unfortunately they used the rather disliked Phoenix project as a base for the looks with the consequence that the Locust isnt even recognizable as a Locust.

Don't forget, you also got 3 months of premium time and $80 worth of MC, too

The benefit to the founders over this pack is that you were given tons of MC that you could buy whatever you want. In this, you're forced to get the off variants you might not particularly want.

Ken, there's a big difference between them saying Lone Wolves will get rewards in CW, and specifically clarifying if those rewards benefit from Loyalty Points.

While I'm assuming they do, a little clarity never hurt anyone.

This promotion seems generally above board, in my opinion the only thing sketchy is that if you don't buy the phoenix package you well have to wait 1 month longer for the shadow hawk, 2 months longer for the thunderbolt and a not insignificant 3 months for the battlemaster The decision to release the heavy metal before the highlander was by two weeks, PGI cannot possibly expect 3 months to not be considered a step too far.

That also implies that if you give PGI $80 for the Overlord package you are consigning yourself to 4 months until a new mech is available to you. The founders mechs were all released and available for everyone at launch (well, closed beta "launch"), regardless of whether you had bought founders and it didn't mean the legendary founders had to wait 4 months for their next mech either.

Given the extra capital flow this promotion will produce PGI should use at least some of that to ensure that the 4 project phoenix mechs are released in addition to our regular 1 mech per month schedule, if they want to show the community any respect over this offer then they can't make people that paid $80 wait 4 months for everyone else to catch up on mech releases.

huh?

Where do you get 4 months wait, if you buy the Overlord package? It says quite clearly that everything in the package is delivered October 15th (except forum related stuff..that hits next maintenance cycle).

The 1 per month starting in October.. are for the non-Phoenix versions of the chassis.

Mal I think he meant if you don't dosh out cash.

Personally I'm sad that PGI is taking all the mechs hostage and forcing us to buy a Locust if we want a mech we actually like early.

I'm trying to figure out why we're using the Locust 1V. It has an epic load out of 2 Mguns and a Medium laser... :|

There are other variants that could be used.

1E: 1 Small Laser RA & LA, 1 Medium laser LA, 1 Medium laser CT 129.6 KPH 160 Standard 4.0 Tons of Standard armor, single heat sinks, standard structure

1S: 1 SRM 2 LA & RA, 1 Medium laser CT, 129.6 KPH 160 Standard, 3 Tons of standard armor, single heat sinks, Standard structure.

EDIT: or make it the packaged mech have 2 extra energy hard points on the LA & RA?

I don't want to give u any more money pgi because you hurt me bad the last time I did and I'm still waiting to get my 75MCs back from you from a mis-informed purchase. But, even so, I'm slightly tempted.

No man. Where does it say u get $80 worth of MCs? All that gives u is 12 mechs (4 exclusives and 8 standard variants), 12 mechbays, premium tim and cockpit flair and phoenix tag. It's not as good as the Founder's pack cause u can't choose your mechs if u buy less than Overlord and u get NO MCs.

I am a big fan of BT, played TT for years and have played several of the computer versions (even still load up original X-Box versions occasionally). When they came out with the Founders Packs, I was disappointed, because I wasn't really a fan of any of those 4 mechs. However, I thought it would be a good buy to get at least 1 for the bonus income, and of the 4, I went with the Atlas, because of the 4, it was the one I liked best. Since I have purchased it though, I have had a big case of buyer's remourse. I've even gone so far as to wish I could get a refund. There's several things about that game that I don't like and are unlikely to change. I will still play the game, but I regret sinking money into it, as my money is precious, and I rarely put out money for a game. This regret increased when the hero mechs started coming out offering a better income bonus than I got for my Founder mech, which I thought would always offer the best bonus in the game since we were the early adopters. Then there is the gameplay itself taking so long to get up to an acceptable level, making the regret painful. I have been lurking on the forums and playing little, because it's just not all that fun at the moment. Most of my friends that are big BT fans that got into the beta have stopped playing altogether. Hoping it will be good some day before too many players move on to something else, because it can be a seriously awesome game.

Now they come out with these Project Phoenix mechs. Now don't get me wrong, they are awesome choices. In fact, if these had been offered as Founder's mechs, I would have gotten the Legendary Pack instead of the Elite and would probably have a lot less regret for double the money (go figure). I like all of these better than any of the Founder's mechs, and except for the Shadowhawk( would prefer Wolverine instead), would have gone in happily (prefer the classic look of the locust 3025 better than the look here and might not like the others when they show up, but that's less of a problem).

Having said all that, here's my reasons that I will not be buying this package:
1) We can't use MC that we have already to purchase these mechs, we have to spend more money (definitely makes them look like they only want the money to me), they could make each variant cost 4000 MC(or they could scale it like the existing heroes: 2k mc for the Locust, 2500mc for Shadowhawk, 5000 mc for the Thunderbolt, 6500 for the Battlemaster);
2) We can't buy only the one's we want (if I was to buy only the one's I want, I would get all but the Shadowhawk, if I was to buy all I could currently afford, I would get the Battlemaster, neither options are available);
3) How about a straight Founder's Pack to Project Phoenix swap, I paid $60, let me pay $20 more or equivalent MCs and I get the Project Phoenix mechs instead? Not likely, I know.
4) Limiting this package to only a 1 month purchase period, when there will be so many people after launch that would be willing to sink their money into this if the game works correctly then, seems like a ploy to me, especially, if they are offering the Founder's Packs again (I haven't seen it, but I haven't been paying too much attention). I have some expenses going on right now and I will not be able to buy into that package before it ends on July 25th, no matter how much I would want to.

So all this leads me to 1 unfortunate conclusion. I am stuck with a Founder's mech that I prefer not to have at all, along with what I feel is a colossal waste of money, and if the game is still around, I can get the mech I want on Jan 22nd next year.

The only thing that is limited to one month, is the bonus premium time. The rest of the sale will remain till a 'to be determined' date (most likely, shortly before beta ends, and the game goes 'live').

Thanks, I did miss that. So only the 30 days bonus is all that goes away at the end of the month. That makes it a little better then. My other 3 reasons still stand though. ;)

Honestly, that would have happened anyway. have you SEEN the Jagermech in the comics and fluff pictures? It's nothing like the walking brick we got ;). (I love it, but come on...)

The Founder's Phoenix mechs have to be the poopiest ones, presumably to prevent crying on the part of the plebs.

Here's what tipped me over the edge: mech bays are included with each mech in each package. Taken together with the mechs themselves, that's an offer I couldn't refuse.

There's only 1 way this package could get better, a 5th and 6th tier... leading up to $120 that would add the Warhammer and Marauder to the bunch... I would, without a doubt, pay $120 for that.

That's all I want PGI, give me my Warhammer and Marauder, and you can have all the money, I'll won't forgive all the balance issues, and late promises... but I will be willing to forget them...

It would be great if our in-game and forum badges went live now, instead of on Oct. 15 as an early reward to show who has supported MWO's development costs. I'll be waiting until the Clan program becomes available and will still be hoping for my all-time favorite mech, the Warhammer IIC.
