The head doesn't need to be any bigger than it already is XD Bigger head = bigger hit box, and if anyone was around in closed beta when th eentire head of the atlas was it's head hitbox, this is not a good idea XD
It works in tabletop because no matter how big the head is, there is still always the same chance to hit it no matter what, not so much in this game. Though I do understand why it has such a huge cockpit, it is a command mech, and the size f the canopy enables the commander to get a better view of the battlefield then in other mechs, still bigger heads = bad idea, however, if the cockpit was raised, imo it would have the same effect as the bigger head, in the way of allowing the commander a better view of the battlefield.
Actually, the reason for the large cockpit was that the Battlemaster had a tandem cockpit, with the pilot in the front position and the Weapons Support Officer in the back. When used as a Command Mech, the WSO position was occupied by the Commander. This was different from most other cockpits in that either position could be used to pilot the battlemech or controls could be seperated for seperate weapons and movement controls. Because both pilot and WSO positions had to have enough viewability to pilot and fight the mech if needed, you ended up with the large canopy cockpit.
In MWO, you don't have the ability to have two players in the cockpit of one battlemech, so there would be no need to have the design as in the TT. Indeed, later versions of the BLR scaled down the cockpit.
For my money, the BLR as envisioned here is perfect! Keep it as is!
