I think it should come with a big holster and, every time the Battlemaster drew it, it would spin it around its finger and yell "PEW! PEW! PEW!"

That....would be awesome.

If it never does, at some point I'll animate something like that.

On topic with what I just said but off topic with the package, slipped in spoilers.

BAH! Not everyone wants to play a clan test tube baby you know. The clans and their fancy omnimechs can go ****** themselves as far as I'm concerned. I _like_ my Inner Sphere mechs and I'll stick with them. Only clan mech I ever liked the look of was the Vulture, and even that does not stack up next to the classics of my 3025 days.

Don't assume everyone's a clan fan just salivating at the thought of playing clanmechs, because we're not. Some of us are stubborn, old farts set in our ways and not about to change our minds at this point. :D

I know not everyone is drooling to play the Clan mechs.
My posts were a rebuttal to those complaining of "High Priced" and "I don't want The Locust, It sucks".
I specifically stated these were LONG LOVED DESIGNS. and frankly, by some peoples posts. a Pretty Darn Good Value.
I was also cautioning that these are going to be underwhelming in combat performance.

I am pleasantly amazed these mechs are going to be ingame.
Kudos to PGI for making it happen, They have made a lot of people happy.
To those complaining of the package specifics. I say "buy or not", but quit raining on everyones parade.
Stop trying to whine or rage a better deal, This is a GREAT Deal by a lot of people measure.

As for me, One last copy past of the email title from earlier today:

Receipt: For Talon Package

Now all I have to do is figure out where to get the money to upgrade to Overlord before this package expires.

I am 41. Several polls on here would suggest (not that the general maturity of the forums would suggest) that this game has attracted a much older player base than is typical for a multiplier online game of today.

Is the concept art we are seeing right now the look of the regular mechs or are they special ones you get if you buy a package?

concept art is indeed not to scale

As for the cockpit on the battlemaster. Yeah. That was a matter of making it not a massive shoot me here target as well as visually making it distinct from the original art, as it would not be legally responsible of us to make designs based directly off the unseen. As such, I did my best to try to carry over the feel of the originals but with different details and with a bias towards how our gameplay works. i.e having pelvises (locust), not having vertical lines bisecting a cockpit (thunderbolt) and not having a mech that has a cockpit that can be shot from space (battlemaster)

be that as it may, depending on feedback, i can always try to adjust and tweak things a bit for the orthos.

Alex... you've done an absolutely fantastic job with the design of all the Mechs dude. It takes a lot of skill to do what you do here and I for one greatly appreciate all the effort you, and the rest of the Devs have done for the BT/MW community and reviving one of my most loved games of all time. Keep up the great work... there's not a single design I could say was done "wrong" yet!

Edit: brain lapsed... lol

was hoping for this version of the 1G, can wait till jan now. The base 1G does seem like an ideal replacement for anyone considering the misery though.

Quote

BLR-1G BattleMaster Red Corsair - The personal 'Mech of the mysterious Red Corsair started life as a Royal BLR-1G model, but was refitted with a Clan-tech weaponry and structural components. A single ER PPC was located in each arm, with a Large Pulse Laser installed in the center torso, and all six the Medium Lasers were upgraded to Medium Pulse Lasers. Twenty-one double heat sinks managed the heat generated by these weapons. To command her force, the Red Corsair's BattleMaster mounted a Command Console in the head. Sixteen tons of standard armor protected an Endo Steel skeleton and an XL Engine. BV (2.0) = 2,472[42]

Pretty nice, I just would like seeing the 6 Lazors as a "V", but the bubble cockpit would be very nice at least.

To make an example what I mean... smaller cockpit but dome-shape (very quick dirty work, just as an example):

You mean the one side having the lasers in a \ and the other side having them in a / to make \{}/? Not a bad idea. Though I don't mind it either way.

Speaking of which I just noticed the twin finger + thumb grip. I like it.

Unfortunately, you had me at BattleMaster :( ... though it should be a Steiner emblem, not a Smithson's Chinese Bandits Merc Group, as all the other lesser House's are represented :(... and after I promised myself I wouldn't spend any more money on an incomplete game. :)

PS: Hope these aren't to scale as it'd make that Locust bigger than a Cicada...

Stop.

Just stop, all of you taking a cue from Alex's comment about tweaking the designs somehow meaning you should tell him how to change it. The concept art looks great as it is, it fits into the look and feel of the rest of the MWO mechs, and best of all it avoids the legal issues regarding visual similarities which caused these mechs to be shelved for years in the first place. The old Battlemaster is NEVER coming back. N-E-V-E-R. Neither is the Marauder (my favorite) or the land-air mechs which are essentially photocopies of japanese anime mechs and have always seemed completely out of place in battletech in my opinion. Their existence in Battletech is dead in regards to their original appearance. These new designs at least retain the vaguest cues and nods to original design, and that's as close as it should get.

Amen to that brother. I think they need the money for the extra 50 people they now need to fix the game.

only one gripe here, the battle masters ppc is supposed to be a hand held rifle, not slung under the arm =D

still glad to see them making something cool to earn their income.

If you truly believe that, you need to listen to the latest NGNG podcast. They don't divert all their resources to coming out with things like this, it's only just a fraction of the team that works to better the game.

If you really think that PGI devotes 100% of it's resources to come out with new mechs instead of making MWO a better game, you should just go play another game because you obviously have no idea what is going on. Matter of fact, you should prolly just burn you computer down because you have no idea of how games are made, go walk your dog, take up sport, go visit a bar, get laid maybe, you need it. Hell, you can get a prosititue pretty cheap.

Yes, I mean to be mean.
