Bringing in new players at the cost of the old ones doesn't make the game healthier.
Now if this package included an announcement of a more sim like heat scale and no 3pv at all, combined with the launch of netcode 1.0 then I might spend some more money on the game.
I'd love to get these mechs, I bought every Hero mech through Heavy Metal, but now the game feels like a completely different baby, that isn't any fun.
I mean this package has been out for less than 24 hours and the joke about how many ppc/gauss each mech can carry is already old.
It sounds silly now, but I'd even ask: "Will the mechs on my account be available on the Xbox One version?"

While I must remember that these are (re-)reseens not unseens - (unseens retain the actual Harmony Gold designs) - and that the game is still *bleh* (and that's putting it kindly), if there was ever anything I'd dish out money to purchase it would be for 3025 era stuff.
I must admit that while it pains be greatly to do this, I'm probably going to spend the $80. Even if the game remains incredibly unfun, I can at least say that I have four virtual 'Mechs (read: shiny pixels) that I respect. It's my money and I can waste it how I want! Sadly, I'm wasting it on a development team I loath - hoping for a tiny spark of hope from ... somewhere.
Maybe with the implementation of these more canon 'Mechs they'll slowly adjust the game to a more canon play style.
BWWWWAAAAHHHHHHAHAHHHAHAAHAHHA!
Even I couldn't keep a strait face with that one.

I'll wait for the next PP sale as it seems much more likely it could happen now............
Even if there isn't another 4 PP mechs released on a sale in 4 or 5 months, I don't really like the mechs on offer in this sale anyway so won't be buying in on this one.

QFT - Also, getting 3 mechs per chassis in a weight class makes it much easier to master that chassis (and the whole weight class, for new players or vets who haven't already done it). And personally I want to have at least one mech at every weight break for competitive purposes (league drops etc. where the team divides total tonnage or is assigned specific tonnages - I know there's only a couple leagues around now & the drops are hit-or-miss, but with improved lobby functionality and community warfare, I expect it to become a lot more sophisticated as the game progresses).

Where does it say you have to pay $80 to get the Battlemaster?
The $80 is for all 4, 8 variants, 12 bays, etc.
If you just want the battlemaster... wait for it to come out normally.

This is pretty much the best POV. I would say even further, wait till the 20th, then any fallout from the patch would be apparent.

That's pretty much what I'm doing. I, unlike others, don't play as much and grinding out for each mech seems like a long trial. But this pack cuts down on that. 4 new mechs to just cut loose in and a ton of premium. It all hinges on whether the next patch proves they're making the effort to make this game better for the real fans. Not just reaching for an audience that could care less.

And regarding further development of the game. The news today are a slap into the face of all the doomsayers. New Mech movement behavior, nobody saw that comming.
It proves behind any reasonable doubt, they are working on much more things they care to share (sadly).
And to be honest. I'am getting sick of all those people demanding anything from the game they want but are not willing to pay for it. The worst of those are this nice guys even insulting us paying customers as idiots cause we actually pay for a game we love and thus making it even possible for the f2p to play at all.
Just my 2 cents

Anyway, I heard about PP and it sounded interesting. I even found myself looking at the grid of prices, because I'm a huge sucker for unseen mechs. The $80 pack seems to be the one to get, I figured. The Battlemaster is an awesome mech. I could sell all the extra variants for a ton of cash. So I'd end up with four PP mechs, a bunch of cash, six new mech bays, and some miscellaneous junk.
Then I went to Sarna to figure out what Battlemaster variants they might release, and looked at the Battlemaster picture. Then I went back and looked at the Battlemaster picture on the PP page and it hit me like a load of bricks, all the stuff I've been reading for months: This isn't Battletech anymore.
- The MWO Battlemaster is a collection of hardpoints similar to a Battlemaster, and a model has two arms, two legs, a gun on the arm, and a cockpit that looks nothing like a Battlemaster. PGI calls it a Battlemaster and everybody squeals in delight, but they could have just as easily called it anything else and everyone would have instead shrugged. In short, we've got mechs named like those in TT, and our nostalgia has us opening our wallets, but if you changed all the terms in this game (ie: LL becomes "plasma rifle" and Atlas becomes "Stompybot"), you wouldn't recognize it as BT any more than Hawken could be Heavy Gear.
- We're still just playing deathmatch. I know, I know: CW is coming. Someday. Maybe. How would thousands of mechs per hour being destroyed in arena fights fit into the BT universe? We've had a Tukayyid campaign going on for over a year now, and we're all making lots of cash. If that kind of cash and materiel were laying around in the IS, the Clans never would have made it out the periphery. (I kid, but really: how can anyone find mech deathmatch interesting after all this time?)
- ECM. I don't care so much about ECM, but consider it a case study in PGI balance. They implement an item from TT. Well, they implement it wrong. Then rather than fess up and change it when the community screams, they hold their ground, and over the course of MONTHS, introduce some minor tweaks. Not to change ECM, mind you! They turn it into a rock, paper, scissors game. Don't worry, you can counter it with PPCs if you can continuously hit a Raven at 600M! Don't worry, you can spend a bunch of MC for each of your mechs to reduce its effect! Etcetera, etcetera. That's just one balance failure. Look at the debacles of Gauss, PPCs, JJ, DHS, ES/FF/Artemis switching costs, camo/novelty item costs. PGI cannot admit when they make a mistake. Can you imagine what will happen when the Clans show up? The game is going to be awful for a year while they slowly introduce silly game mechanics to account for the poor design decisions they're making right now. Maybe ERLLs will be too powerful, so they'll decide that IS FF gives a 20% reduction in laser damage, and scream "FIXED!" at us?
- The rules aren't like TT, and they aren't even trying anymore. Penalties for firing a whole bunch of PPCs at once? ECM blocking Streaks? CONSUMABLE MODULES!? Is it just me, or does this game sound like its genesis is some guy who used to play TT and liked the universe and decided to make a game about it, but couldn't really remember the rules that well? And then at some point decided that MWO was Battletech, and that canon has no meaning? We're drifting slowly away from Battletech and into "inspired by Battletech" with every band-aid they put on their most recent bad balance decision.
Anyway, I've been dying for a multiplayer online Battletech since the death of Genie's game, which I spent more money on than I'll ever put into MWO. I was hoping MWO would be that game, but since I started playing the closed beta, the game has drifted further and further from Battletech with debacles like Gauss balance, PPC balance, Streaks, ECM, and simple omissions like the useless pulse lasers. I've been eager to see CW, because putting a metagame behind the deathmatch might make the gameplay interesting. But look at the state of the game's design. Not only can't they balance anything they make, but they refuse to admit when they make a mistake, and we have to suffer with the Build of the Week hell. Gausscats? Streakcats? ECM Ravens? PPC Stalkers? Who's going to be the first to jump off a bridge when we see Clan mechs with 80 LRM tubes or 6 ERLL's? And the second when they introduce some contrivance to fix THAT mistake? Are you willing to throw $80 into the hopes that they balance gameplay that was so difficult to balance in TT?
I paid $60 for this game, and now they want another $80 so I can buy a slightly different variant that's supposed to resemble a mech I liked back in the TT days and play it in a game that doesn't resemble TT at all. Why? I can already do that in MW4 MekTek, and with REAL unseen designs. Who needs the MWO Battlemaster (as attractive as it is) when I can get a REAL Battlemaster in MW4? And a Marauder. And a Rifleman.
Don't I have better things to do with $80?
I'll check in on MWO again when CW launches. Maybe they can fix the game balance by then and make better decisions going forward. I just hope the money they make on this silly nostalgia cash grab gets them the funding they need to make it.
Sorry to be negative. This whole situation bums me out.

I have been dropping at minimum 3 drops a night, usually though I run mechs for 3hrs, ever since I got into closed beta. I've had fun through ever iteration of the game.
Back with the founders program, i only laid out $30. It got me into beta with a few perks. The higher teirs didn't interest me because I wasn't the biggest fan of the mechs you could choose from.
With this package, even if I just use the mechs a few times, the mech bays and premium time as well as the ability to run said mechs before general population make it worth it for me.
Oh, and for me premium time is worth it cause it allows me money to tweak to my hearts content without feeling like I have to grind. Pay for convience.

Not likely. Those are Harmony Gold licenced mechs that can't be used without paying HG vast sums. We should see the Wolverine and Griffin though, which were favourites of mine.
