I want to like it... but the head........ not only does the view screen seem oversized from the artistic standpoint, but unless they just pick and make some tiny point on the face the "head" hitbox, this thing is gonna take a face-ful of PPC-sauce faster than a CatapulT!

Well, that bright blue square in the concept art does scream "Shoot me!"

It needs to have that or else it would be hilariously broken, given how fast it is (stock), the hardpoints, the jump jets...

To be fair, the Quickdraw has the same issue. I'll wait and see what the actual hitboxes end up being like :(

It looks similar to Hunchback's head to me. Meaning big and easy to hit, but not as bad as Catapult.

I'm not worried about it; the Quickdraw is similar but doesn't really have headshot issues. They've already gone and done the tiny frame being the actual cockpit for several mechs already. The real issue, to me at least, is that you'll probably not be putting an XL and using a Ballistic weapon, otherwise it'll be too easy to pop the side torso.

You mean, sort of like the Cataphract turned out?

Nevermind. How about the Highlander?

Nope, still no-go. I know, maybe the Blackjack!

There's gotta be a pattern here somewhere. Let's try the Cicada:

Still no. Damn.

The moral of the story is that head shape in concept art =/= head hitboxes in-game.

and how long did we have to complain about with the Cataphract to get the head sized reduced? Quite some time. And the Quickdraw has many complaints about the head hitbox, and the Awesome and Catapult are STILL terribad.

Oh, nevermind.

The real moral of the story here (beside "I can be a smartzz like you" too) is that to have faith in the modelers to not screw it up is about like trusting the NSA NOT to read your email. As the constant growing mech scale demonstrates.

Excellently stated.

Though it does amuse me that the new Shadowhawk art does kinda make it look like it has a TV for a head...err...not that there is anything wrong with that people-with-tv's-for-heads.

Oh, nevermind.

I wasn't playing when the Cataphract first came out so I wasn't aware of its original implementation. I've heard about the Awesome originally having a huge head but now it's just fine:

It's almost impossible to miss dat CT, so heads on the AWS are pretty much safe.

you must not drive them much... or hunt them. I still track em down because I can guarantee a headshot almost every time. 2 AC/20 meets the meat in the Awesome head = Not so Awesome.

It's hard to hunt something that nobody ever drives. Sighting an AWS is probably even less likely than a medium or light. When they do get sighted, PPCs home-in on their CT as if they were heat-seeking.

i still see them more than I would expect. Usually 9M or Pretty Baby, but still some other 8 series. Surprises me, because as much as I WANT to love me the AWS (always a favorite in TT) I just can't. But I see them way more than Trebbies, Commandos, and probably on par with Dragons still.

Quite some time? It took about half a day to fix the headbox. I was there, it was hotfixed immediately because they were dying like flies so stop making up crap please

I don't think easy headshots should ever be a balancing mechanic. Vulnerable chassis that make it somewhat easy to strip weapons, yes. But making a mech easy to take out of the game immediately? That's a horrible, horrible idea. All that does is make the chassis less fun to play and will lead to it becoming extraordinarily scarce.

Honestly, I don't think the chassis is going to be that broken. Mediums are largely underperforming currently, so maybe it will add some needed representation to that weight class.
