as a light (jenner f) pilot the (imo) worst build to run into is another jenner f with 6 SPLs or a streaktcat. the latter is easy to outrun and shoot at from + 270 m away... the former is imo the best lighthunter in existance.

it is not realy easy to play and isn't as good as the 6 ml jenner at hit and running against anything bigger then another light, but it eats every other light alive. very nasty little thing.

I was under the impression that SSRMs were no longer worth bothering with since the Center-Torso bug fix and the extra heat from the new stacking system.

Back in the day it was very common for 'light hunters' - as people have been saying here - to be called Pursuit mechs, or in multiples, a Pursuit Lance.

As mainly a Spider pilot I love seeing the number of Centurions that put ammo in the legs. Newsflash for Cent drivers: In a fight I focus on Cent legs. The nastiest things for me are the Cicadas and Jenners that can match my speed. Everything else depends too much on a lucky shot or for me to make a mistake. The best light hunters are the ones that I can't run away from and that mount either streaks or pulse lasers, or (yikes) both. The Cicada is at a bit of a disadvantage only because of the lack of jump jets. Everything else mentioned is easy enough to avoid.

they're not as deadly as they used to be, but as a light,12 ssrms to the face still hurt a lot.

Surprised no one has mentioned it, but even with the heat scale, an 8x mLas BJ-1X with a 295xl makes an excellent pursuit mech. (Thanks for reminding me of the term  ).

They still wreck Jenners, because the CTs on them are huge, and they are great for hitting Spiders, which are hard as boogers to hit usually.

SSRMs are still good vs Lights because lights have less armor, so even spread damage is still damage of significance. They also are fire and forget, which makes it easier on large mech pilots.

LB10Xs are also good, for similar reasons (that, and they're easier to hit with because of the spread in general) as a light hunter weapon.

Dragons and Trebs make good hunting mechs due to their speed. Even a Victor will work in a pinch (the 9K being the best due to additional arm movement), or a cicada. I'm also finding the Commando 2D works fairly well at hunting lights.

Basically, for light hunting, you need to go at least 120 kph+. Pulse lasers are also very effective vs lights if your aim is good.

Best light mech killer out there constant hail of razor blades speed that only the fastest mechs can escape.

Locust taste yummy leg goes in one pass.

The Cicada are the best light mech killers that's what they were designed to do.

If you can't find a light you got a pinpoint AC 20 to kill with.

As a light hunter, you need streaks and a huge xl-engine. Shadow hawk 2D2 can make a good one:

You'll be fast enough not to lose the lights, and 4xSSRM2 with BAP allows you to take them down. 2xML for precision (legging etc).

So I've made all kinds of builds so far, from close brawlers to scouts to snipers. I haven't yet built a missile boat, but I've got plenty of ideas on that score. What I need is a light-hunter. My Jenner and my X5 aren't bad, but I'm really wanting to know what is out there for a good light hunter. I honestly can't say that I've encountered many mechs that appeared to be dedicated light hunters in the field, so I've had all sorts of different thoughts on a good build for the role. Whatcha got? =]

This... is... the... best... light.. hunter... period.
Trebuchet 3C
XL390
2 SSRMs
2 tons ammo
2 MLs
2SLs
140KPH with more armor than anything else that goes as fast.
if you dont like SLs take out a ton of ammo, and upgrade them to MLs. If you really need BAP for your streaks, take a XL380.
I once killed a fresh pack of 3 locusts in 2 minutes by myself. Best part is youll have a ton of fun running down the fastest lights in the game with a medium.

1 on 1, there is no better light destroyer than a Jenner Oxide with 4 streaks, XL 300, and BAP.

They need to make a Hero Spider with 1 energy point in the center torso for TAG and 2-3 Missile points on each torso but with only 2 tubes each for Streaks. Of curse the big engine due to no ECM and Jump jets.

Just swap out the ballistic points for missile points for an already existing chassis.

That would be a light killer.

Light hunters? The easiest is anything that can pack steaks and is reasonably fast:

Oxide
Any Kintaro
Shadowhawk 2D2

If you have good aim:

Jenner F
Cicada 2A
AC/40 Jag (duck hunting LOL)

If you have none of the above, use whatever you have, bring a teammate, and focus fire.

Wow, such focus on Trebs and Centurions.

Why not a streak Shadowhawk 2D2 equiped with BAP? Either that or the X5 does a pretty good Job.

Best light hunter I have found for my play style is the Kintaro set up with Streaks, TAG, BAP, and I left Artemis on from when I was using standard SRMs. Then I pack a ER LG Laser for some ranged firepower.

The thread dates back to long before Shadowhawks came out.
