I'm loving the concept images we've seen. The Mechs look great. Here's hoping these concepts translate into the game as well.
Personally, I felt that MW4 was almost cartoony, too many bright colours. I'm liking this darker, gritty approach. Can't wait to see some in game action!

I'm liking the detailed hands.

The look - based on the few images we do have - is a great choice. Gives it a military and serious touch. Not too many soft and round parts, but sharp edges and single plates of armor. A rather "realistic" feel - if you can attribute a sci-fy game with this.

Alex Iglesias is a genius. Here's more of his stuff if you liked his Atlas or Hunchback:

After the cartoony look of MW4,
the drab gray of MW3,
the blocky polygons of MW2,
and the wireframes of MW1,
I might actually appreciate some brown&bloom for once.

When it comes to battletech, flyingdebris has a load of great re-imagings which I've seen posted in various places, but not on his deviantart:
Crab and King Crab
Victor
Stalker
Whitworth
I hope some of these revisions make it into MWO - the King Crab especially is a magnificent design, looking much less awkward than previous portrayals.

A lot of those come from him relaxing...and posting on 4Chan for fun.
The man has the touch. If you can translate his work to moving, fighting machines you will have yourself just what the game needs for units.

Yeah I totally agree with this. The art direction is amazing, really mature while staying faithful to source material. Strongly agreed with below comment, though less so on the bloom

I agree, the visual aesthetics from the concept art and the gameplay clips give off a more visceral impression. I like it!

Aaaah magnificent work. Now let's hope that somebody out there can breathe life into all of them. It sounds easier than it is ...
P.S. Thumbs up for the Wusun Omni Fighter
