Return To Base
Learn it, Know it, Use it
This is especially true for lite and medium pilots. If you see that on your team chat, the worst thing you can do for your team is to continue scouting, fighting or attempting to get to the other teams base.
As well, when you are supposed to RTB and you find that you are unable to take down an enemy mech or mechs, you need to say so in Team chat. Communication is vital but execution is imperative.

(Does anyone know of a glossary for MW:O for incoming new players?)

Short answer: No
There should be though.
It's fun to show up in a Quickdraw when returning to base... at least I usually have a chance to do something of worth...

"I'll RTB" - I got the base defense, everyone else just stay on the front line so they don't shoot at your behind as you plod slowly back to a base you can never reach.
"I will RTB need a couple more for assistance!" - There's a couple/few at our base and I can't handle it alone.
"All RTB!" - There's several mechs at the base and everyone needs to come back pronto!

I posted this out of compete frustration with Pug's last night. 5 matches in a row (and no, I am not over exaggerating) our team lost due to being capped. It was not frustration for being capped but rather how the individual players on my team reacted (or in this case lack of)
The first two matches of being capped I really said nothing although my teammates all said in chat to RTB. No one did.
The third match I found myself in the same situation and spoke up.
By the 4th and 5th matches I found myself at the beginning of the match telling my teammates who were in lites and mediums to watch for the cap, no need to necessarily stay back but not to wonder off. Still we get capped.
The fifth match was especially difficult because our lites decided to attack a lone cataphract and ignored any instruction whatsoever.
I am beginning to believe we are getting a stream of new players in. If that truly is the case, it can be forgiven and patience is due. However, I felt very frustrated in all the matches , especially when multiple people were calling for a RTB. Eventually it felt like a complete ignore.
This is a Team game, if you go in solo and with a solo mindset not only will you die but your teammates have to pick up the slack and more than likely they will die which results in a loss. I hate losing

I like how in all 5 matches you didn't even attempt to return to your base though I can nearly guarentee that in every single instance you were one of if not the closest person to your base at the time it was tagged while the lights were off doing their thing on the opposite side of the map.

To be frank, I have been running a K-2 that rolls at 61.2 and it was odd enough that we were light in the Assault area. I covered in those Matches a Stalker boat, an Awesome and two matches two assaults.
Most of the time I was 80% near the enemy base or already half way through the map, I would NOT have made it back.
I do like however the fact that you seem to have the notion that you were there and you know the situation, but rest assured, you are gravely wrong.

However, sometimes you must take it upon your slow arse to do it yourself.. even if you are not the optimal choice.

This is the main reason I drive a light mech for pug games. Pugs are mostly unreliable. If you feel the need to rtb it's better to do it yourself.

So....you didn't attempt to return to base in any of the situations. Good Job. You're a gentleman and a scholar.
BTW, half way through the map is more than enough time to get back in a catapult in any map unless their entire team is standing on your base, in which case, wtf were you doing no where near the enemy?
And before you say "no I can't!" It's ******* math. At 61.2 KPH, thats .017 Kilometers a second. Which is 2.04 kilometers in 2 minutes, the time it takes to cap, which is more than enough time and distance to return to base in every map. In all but alpine (and even probably alpine), 80% is still enough time to RTB.
Alpine from base to base is somewhere in the vacinity of 3 kilos, so even halfway there is short of the 2 kilometer distance. Not to mention the fact that you're probably boating PPCs like a scrub in your K2 in which case you only need to move half that distance, or 1 minute worth of motion, to be in range of your "uberbadass" weapon.
Get better.

I wrote a glossary of commonly used terms back in Early CB (over a year ago now), some of it was taken on board, and others added to it, but it has since been archived, and I've no idea where to look for it.
Perhaps it's time for a new one, we can all chip in and then let one of the community mods take the best and make 1 post and sticky it for the new guys.

lol ah hammer , you seem to be a person who likes to argue just for the sake of arguing.
I on the other hand find it black and white. There are to many variables in that equation you build and to many different scenarios to build upon one exact thing or reason.
This post was directed at a general "TEAM" orientation. It takes more than one person to execute, not just one individual. Each mech doing a particular job, with some having more than one role.
The ultimate bottom line to this is knowing what your role is and how to execute under any given circumstance. This is what is needing to be taught and we as Vet's of this beta need to keep current on changes and guide newer players into that frame of thinking.
Saying "Get better", that just doesn't make any sense. Take notice to how I originally posted rather than my post statements.

So you made an entire post saying lights and mediums need to RTB when you tell them to because it's their job, but you refuse to return to base because it's a team game and not an individual effort. Well, I'm sure those lights and mediums feel the same way, and I'm sure they enjoyed losing because you're too lazy and stubborn to return to your base when you're more than fast enough to do so.
And there are no variables in math. You have the speed to return to base in every single map as a catapult, and the only time you would not make it back in time is certain locations in alpine which you probably aren't fighting in anyways, and if you are on their base in TD, which shouldn't matter because you're capping their base now. You failing to do so is a detriment to your team and your loss is reflected on you and every other lazy noob out there who thinks just because they picked a heavy mech they can dictate what everyone else has to do and doesn't need to play tactically or intelligently.

lmao hammer...your hostile personality obviously makes you a perfect candidate for a forum flame game. Try getting into the REAL game once in awhile and playing, until then....don't talk to me about strategy or tactics, I have had nearly 10k drops since closed. You are not talking to me at all. But I am sure your used to that being on the forums all the time.
See, what you do not know is...look at my sig, I am a Jenner pilot trueborn. I understand the role of a lite pilot even though I am more than known for my jungle warfare tactics. My stable also understands the role and how to execute...preach on man, your preaching on deaf ears.

Of course I'm preaching to deaf ears. My logic is going in one ear and out the other with you. I only play Jenners (96% of all drops are in one of the three variants). It's not my job to be RTBing when I'm likely on the other teams base already.
And you aren't a trueborn.

Yep...you just like to argue. I can now see this.Logic? Really? In who's eyes...yours? Now THAT is laughable. And really, I can also tell your one of "those" players. You would rather give up a fight for a cap. So...now that I know your a coward, just stop talking because this conversation will go no where. You have proven nothing and your words are even more of a strain on my eyes. See, its pilots like you that are more part of the problem than the solution.
And just for the record, and enough on here can attest, I have been playing this game variation since 96. AND in a Jenner...just goto the Davion forum...you will see me. I highly doubt you have that kind of history. This isn't my first rodeo kid
And looking at it just now..you pledged Davion? Please, just leave Davion because you are not Davion material. Go somewhere else where capping is appreciated.

I dont see it as a problem when someone says "RTB" because such information is incredibly useful to me. The only communications that frustrate me come from LRM boats hiding at the back of the field swearing at me because i'm not sticking my neck out to hold locks for them. I find that incredibly rude and obnoxious, especially coming from an Atlas pilot.
PUG teams can be incredibly frustrating, but GOOD COMMUNICATION makes all the difference. We can yell till we are blue in the face, some people will still not get it. They fail to understand the strong Team dynamic of this game, and cant see past W/L (which is basically meanigless in PUG MM) and their match score.
