The heat changes may have a significant effect on PPC boating. Of course, all the whiners want MOAR CHANGE, but really, small tweaks are the best way to go about something like this. If you change too many variables at once, you risk creating more problems, and they'll be harder to fix, because it will be difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of said problems, because you changed too much crap at once. The movement changes are pretty big. It's going to take some getting used to... but it should make for some interesting changes in tactics, based on terrain. Hopefully, they'll put in a movement penalty for walking through deep water at some point as well.

I would like to see some additions to the heat damage. Perhaps down the road they will add movement penalties and a COE (cone of effect) reticule when you get hot.

Love all of this, and I'm going to have to really control my bloodlust on the hotter maps. Any thoughts on making heat from Jump Jets ramp up the heat slowly the longer they're used (so higher heat ceiling, but the amount of heat depends on how long the jump button's held down)?

And also this part makes me insanely happy, for some reason:

It kinda does, and yet it does not.

On paper, it makes ERPPCs more boating prohibitive due to the "heat damage cap" of 120%... but PPCs are still perfect even under hotter conditions like Caustic and Tourmaline.

Those that are usually responsible with their heat management (while boating 3-4 PPCs) are really unaffected by this

Those carrying the 6 PPC Stalkers will just shoot half of it when they need that extra finishing hit, instead of going full alpha.

Translation: Very little has changed.

Not the worst patch I've seen, but it certainly isn't the big™ patch we heard about, you had better wow the crap out of me on the 16th if you want to sell me the Phoenix pack.

If this were a physical store with physical product, I'd be able to take my Atlas RS in the store and exchange my inferior product for the new one they just replaced it with :)

Except your obsolete RS was on sale at 50% off. They move old product before selling the upgrades. I got a little tweaked when I converted a bunch of XP to GXP less than 12 hours before a double-XP conversion sale. My tough luck (no refunds) and I learned never to purchase anything prior to a weekend. Not quite the same as your situation, but your RS is not the same as the Champion RS.

Am I the only one who thinks this heat system is ******* garbage? Do you know how many times I over heat in my PPC boat? Never. Do you know why? The slightest heat management skills make hte mech playable.

What bothers me is that I heard Russ Bullock on No Guts No Galaxy a couple of days ago and he sounded like balance is fine by him. "Yeeeeeah we are always tuning and this and that, but to me seems like the boating/alpha problem is not really a problem..." which is scary. And then, comes this patch which doesn't touch SRMs and doesn't touch Seismic.

Have you ever seen Russ in a game? I haven't in 10 months. I doubt he even plays. They're too busy balancing stuff on paper playing StatWarrior Online to bother seeing how things really are.

I've got a good feeling about this patch. If it fixes some of the class/role and weapon balance (PPCs) issues i've been having lately, I just might spring for a Phoenix package.

It fixes NONE of those things. Save your $$.

Mechs reaching 120% heat will start taking damage to their center torso at (0.75 damage + (0.001 damage per tonne) + (0.001 damage per engine rating)) / 1.5 sec.
o The damage will continue until heat drops below 100%. This damage will occur both during an automatic shutdown and when overriding shutdown.

WOOOOOO can't get any better....

• Jenner Founder has a new pattern, with this pattern comes the ability to color it as well. Other Founder Mechs will be getting the same treatment and will come in later patches.

HELL ******* YA

If I can be optimistic for a moment: public test server has been stated as having its own client. There is nothing that says that can't be made available outside of the reg patch schedule, as it is obviously not tied to the current beta client.

Prob not gonna happen, but just throwing it out there.

Same as PB. Hero mech pricing is caluclated as : Price = Tonnage x 75

I like the new movement behaviour and the critical heat damage (although the damage looks a little bit low to me)... but the missing PPC nerf really makes me a sad panda :)

Yeah Star Citizen is getting my Phoenix money as well. I really wanted to help out with this game more but it is fast turning into WOT mech style.
