High Ping? Low Frames? Tell us about it here!

Please attempt to respond to the following questions in your responses:
  • How had the patch generally affected your performance?
  • Whether there are specific points in the game when your performance changes.
  • What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
  • Average FPS ingame and in the menus for previous patch and latest patch (Press F9 to see your FPS)
  • System specs (You can include them in a [spoiler] [ /spoiler])
  • Your advertised internet connection speed / Geographic location

Definite improvement from last patch. I'm not sure what was broken then, but it seems to be fixed. Performance back to 50 FPS.

Unfortunately for me I crash out of more maps now. It used to be only River City but now I crash our of almost all the maps played today.

Alpine Peaks
Frozen Colony
Canyon Network

Very dissapointing considering I just spent $100 on the game.

I have no changes with the fps on high and very high settings with VSYNC on. But i crash more often again. 2 patches before i had a crash very 3. to 4. match. In the last version i had no crashes, and now the crashes are back.

sub 50 ping still having trouble damaging fast moving high pingers. This seems especially bad near objects.

This evening I played for several hours and saw others have one to two disconnects per game, with the worst being six disconnects by the end of play. This isn't what I saw before the patch today.

no crashes in 2 hours, acceptable fps for core 2 duo system, no disconnects. Great work guys!

How had the patch generally affected your performance?
Back to what is normal for me. Only playing a month or so, but never had issues until the previous patch. Which led me to dig/post/cry and whatnot.

Whether there are specific points in the game when your performance changes.
The particle effect or whatever was murdering my 680's is also gone.

What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
I run everything on blast with V-Sync enabled. I have not fiddled with it at all really, mainly because it's been rock solid at 60fps even while frapping things. Resolution is 1920x1080.

Average FPS:
See above.

System specs:
Spoiler

Internet connection speed / Geographic location
Cox (cable) 25MB package. I average 21MB down stream and up to 15MB or so up stream. Las Vegas, NV. Average ping connecting to game servers is 80-100ms.

The current hotfix/patch has fixed the major issues I was having. The larger of which was the disconnects. It still happens, and last night I experienced a spell of it (assume a server thing as it just wouldn't stay connected. then it was fine 15mins later.). Only 2 crashes yesterday out of 20 odd games or slightly more. And bar the issue late last night, I only had 1 disconnect.

Probably worth noting I did not see as many other people disconnecting yesterday either. Although obviously it happens still, but looks like you guys sorted the newer issue, very much appreciated. :)

Hi,

A HUGE Game-Play-Performance Problem with ECM:

1. BAD ECM
2. Every ECM Performance Point
3. Did change every video Setting to get ECM back to its first function
4. FPS goes up and down in my head
5. Quad-650ti-8GB with this specs ECM functioned at first, now is disabled with BAP
6. 100MB and Germany unde rPRISM-Cover :)

I have ECM and BAP equipped but can not counte 2 ECM-Mechs.

At first i could be only countered with ECM.

After the Patch all things are UGLY. I am countered by every ***** equipped with BAP.

Please fix that (enable me to counter 2 ECM Mechs with ECM on counter and BAP) or reset ECM to its FIRST Function not being disabled by BAP.

You are going to fix it in the Adanced Patch next week?

Then itts ok and Thanks

All around, performance did not change much for me. ~45fps with a 660Ti on a Q6600@2.7 GHz. However, since the patch, I sometimes experience fps drops with a hefty stutter for a few seconds. This already killed me once when I was at the C3 exit of the Frozen City tunnel, about to give a Stalker it's final blow in the back, then suddenly couldn't aim and he turned around.

I changed my ISP due to moving. Ping went down from 145 ms (Alice/O2/Telefonica 16mbps DSL) to 110ms (EWEtel 50mbps VDSL). Both in Germany, in/near Bremen.

Urdnot, if you happen to be in Germany, too, and have Alice/O2 as an ISP and are willing to install OpenVPN, send me a PM if you want to try an experiment. With Alice, I could reduce my regular ping by 10ms by sending the traffic though my VPN server, and in addition completely avoid 10 second lag spikes in GW2 and movie interruptions in Lovefilm streaming.

Still getting the same disconnects since the prior patch (had no issues prior to the prior patch). Have ISP speed of 6Mbps, located in California. Have done extensive ping and tracert tests that show packets getting lost regularly between me and PGI, sometimes showing up in a Palo Alto hub but mostly in the Toronto hubs. Do not have any connection issues at all with other games, like Rift or Pirate 101. Have submitted a support ticket previously where the tech determined the connection was to blame. I have a decent quad core system and cable connection. Ping has always been 50-70 since I started playing several months ago. I have noticed lag/warping getting worse with each patch (almost non-existant when I started playing). It seems really bad now?

Well this is really the first real problems I've had since I started playing. The game doesn't really freeze or crash on me, it's now just utterly unplayable.

Maybe I should expand on unplayable....
The Game launches
I can sign in
I can select mechs
I can cusomize mech's
I can join matches
I can "technically" play

I can't turn at any reasonable speed or my view ends up outside the entire freaking mech. I.e. I'm floating 3 feet outside the cockpit.
None of my moment is smooth. It's jerky and I can't aim for anything. I'm lucky to get 60 damage in a match and I'm prone to getting in the way of my team as I can't control my mech properly.
This makes the game unplayable. I played 3 matches like this since that patch and gave up. I'm not wasting my time on something I'm not enjoying.

On top of this now, I'm losing out on my premium time I currently have activated. I'm also concerned that if this isn't fixed for me, that my pre-order of the phoenix project package was a waste of my money.

Nvidia GTS 450 with latest drivers
16GB RAM
i5 quad core processor

Tried low, medium and high graphics, none made a difference.

Sure this probably isn't as bad as some people's issues posted but this is for performance feedback and performance is now an issue for me.

Responding to questions to help me play again:
  • How had the patch generally affected your performance?

Used to play very well and smoothly, now became unplayable

  • Whether there are specific points in the game when your performance changes.

Everywhere the game became playable and that little money I invested and now I can not play

  • What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?

My settings all had to go down to 1152x864 and everything on the least

  • Average FPS ingame and in the menus for previous patch and latest patch (Press F9 to see your FPS)

Previous FPS: 40fps avg

FPS after patch: 20fps and no more than that, for me is unplayable

Please fix it soon to play and enjoy my money I spent on this.

System specs (You can include them in a [spoiler] [ /spoiler])

Processor: Intel Core i3-3120M CPU 2.50GHz

Ram: 6GB

Integrated: Intel HD Graphics 4000

Dedicated: AMD Radeon HD 8750M (used with the game)

DirectX 11

Internet: 2mb stable and no have problem with this

Please repair the game soon.

Update: it turns out that the block diagram Nvidia sent out isn't true to the silicon. The GF106 used on GeForce GTS 450 actually is deliberately handicapped by Nvidia. The only product, thus far, based on an unaltered GF106 is the GeForce GTX 460M mobile graphics module.

1. Card is on the low end.
2. That time of the year where heat plays a bigger factor on everything.
3. Open up case and clear out dust bunnies, esp from the heat sinks (computer :) ). Also check that fans are running properly.
4. Play in Full Windowed Mode instead of Full Screen mode. See below, several players are getting better results, will explain later.
5. Use either Catalyst program or Afterburner to gain control over fans. For a number of players this has helped lots.
6. Full or normal windowed mode limits FPS to 60 FPS, reducing load on GPU. For those which MWO runs at a lower FPS due to system/card limitations, it may be necessary to add line command to user.cfg to cap FPS (thus lowering work load and allowing GPU to not run so hot).

Framerate Cap line to add to user.cfg in MWO primary folder (or create one then add line).

sys_MaxFps = 60 (or 55, 35, 30, etc)

This isn't for everyone but for those who are running any program that is monitoring your GPU, and while playing MWO the GPU is being pegged out at 100%.

Yeah my FPS is down to about 15-20. I ran the repair tool, cranked the graphics down to low and nothing, still garbage fps. My ping is running great, but my fps is terrible. I can't even play the game now.

Have the same problem.
I enter mechlab with 40FPS and in less than a minute im down to 20 FPS, without doing ANYTHING.
IN game even worse, i start at 40FPS and get down to 10/15 FPS.

Filled a case with support@mwomercs.com, advise you guys to do the same.

Not seeing any of Arkani's issues. Mechlab in/out/etc is all fine.

I run 50+ fps everywhere, 40ms ping average on FIOS. Last patch has made it I think a little easier hitting lights for me, I have no problem hitting them in my K2 gaussapult.

All settings on max.

I can try that, I'm just confused as to what in this patch brought about this behavior. Before the patch, everything was smooth at max settings. Got the occassional crash every 50 or so matches
