Greetings,

I like the new soundeffects. Some weapons now do sound better, but some sound like if they were shot from a hollow tincan. It might be a matter of taste, but it isn't my taste for sure.

My real problem however, stems from the fact that it is now near impossible to locate the sounds accoustically. Before the patch it's been clear: A hit from the left, did sound like it came from that direction. Now the sound experience is rather foggy and it isn't clear anymore from where a hit came or where it was shot from.

To me, it sounds as if stereo widening is in use here. This does provide a bombastic sound, but at the cost of everything getting louder and a reduced spatial locating ability.

Because of that, I believe this should be reconsidered.

Regards,
Taron

If you introduce new sounds PGI at least give us more options to adjust their volume, aka footsteps volume, weapons fired volume and such. Right now if there is smth firing PPCs or ACs anywhere within 500m of me it seems like they just put a metal bucket on my head and keep banging it with a metal pipe.

I submitted a ticket and did not even get the usual useless reply. Their silence is more deafening than the weapon sounds.

LOL...I got a response and it was to run the file checked....like my system files just happened to be causing the new sounds to be too loud. really? on the day of the patch and you think it is a game file?

agreed, some of the new sounds are good, PPC etc... However any positive is negated by how overwhelming loud they are now, and the fact that many, especially the ballistic sound like they are fired in an empty drum. If I had a choice between pre/post patch I'd take pre for sure without hesitation.

Some are better, some are not, but the new AC sounds are terrible, especially the kick-the-can sound of the AC2...

I'll pile on here as well. New PPC sound is good, but AC sounds are not. Volume realism needs to come second to comfort level of the consumer. Keep the sounds in a narrow range of volume so that people can adjust them to their own comfort level. Having some sounds incredibly loud and others much softer is just annoying even if it is more realistic.

AC5 sound is strange now, too much metalic, wich comes insupportable when u chain it lol
The previous sound (closer than a shootgun) was better

Totally agree, haven't heard any other AC so I'll have to install them I guess.

EDIT: well, with my headphone it's not that bad but it had more puch before, which I liked. AC/20 is ok, also like LB. I would not ming if all preivous do a comeback, except the ERPPC (and I guess PPC) which I now like better.

The sounds are great. For those who hearing muffled sound, do ensure that your speakers/headphones are able to play sound in the low range db(bass sound).

IMO i think LRM an PPC are better now, but the whole AC weapons sound disgusting. My HBK-4G is unemployed until you improve the sounds! Before the Patch the ACs sound like a small (ac2) or big (ac20) tank cannon. The Patch had some good and some bad sounds. Why not make a poll in the mwo forum when you would like to change sounds? You get our opinon and we become satisfied.

ps: tag is too piano - make it loud so i can disco again! :)

There really isn't much bass in the game. Being hit should have a lot more bass! I want to loose my seat...

I think the new sounds aren´t bad, although AC20 could use a small bit more "ooommmmmppphhhh" in the lower end to visceralize it more and give it even more ID as a large-caliber Cannon(some growlin´ at about 25-55Hz with some ever-so-slight mirroring higher up in low-med to med frequ´s to make it more discernible, e.g: Bassdrum of drumset?), but then again that could be my end as I play with lowest possible in-game audio-volume which tends to cut harsh on lowest end sounds and make your brain interpret it instead.

And pretty please, some less Loudness-war, it mustnt all be brick-walled at -0.001 DB below digital clipping ? ? ?

Well, over all... the new sounds are not good. Partly.... maybe, but overall, that sound patch is a fail.

GOOD WORK WITH SOUNDS BUT i would like to point out 2 problems: AC2 is far too loud for it's caliber, the ding ding ding sound is about personal taste.........but there is no reason for an ac2 being louder than ac 20..........pls lower the sound of ac 2 drastically. The second is a bug report: ppc sound is actually louder when you hear it form a nearby mech than when you shoot ppc by yourself.

VOLUME:
I formerly played with game sound up pretty high and the master computer volume at at least half way. I could hear the engine, my steps, sometimes other people's steps... all sorts of cool things. After the patch I got on, started the game and had to immediately mute the sound it was so painful. I "joke" that the new sounds make my ears bleed. Not literally, but they sure stinking hurt even at the lowest settings.

Now I have game sound on the lowest setting possible and the computer master volume on practically the lowest level, and it still hurts. And I cannot hear anything else. No engine, no steps, nothing. I cannot tell by sounds when I am getting shot now... Volume is clearly an issue with these new sounds.

STYLE:
The old sounds had variety and were really cool. There was nothing wrong withthem. I really do not know why they were changed. Some called them lackluster... but they were awesome before. The AC20 sounded deep and booming, for example. Now, everything sounds clangy, gongy, echoing, reverbing... nothing at all like guns, cannons, lasers ppcs... Just obnoxious TBH.

DIRECTION:
The new sounds are not directionally accurate. The old sounds you could tell where somethign was fired and where it hit. Now... there is no way to tell. Cearly this is a huge step down from the previous sounds.

IMMERSION:
The painful volume, the inaccurate direction and the clangy style all hinder immersion & enjoyment. Literally I even just mute the game sound while playing sometimes, when PPCs are firing near me or AC2s... or.... etc.

Please revert the sounds. There was no need to fix what was not broken. Or at least do what some suggested, make a check box that allows us the option of using the old sounds... that would be fantastic. I was so mad due to the sound change at first, now... I'm just hoping PGI will revert the sounds so I can hear the game again. If people want to blow their ears out and think its great they can just crank their sound. For the rest of us who still want to be able to hear the entire game as before without our ears bleeding... please revert the sounds.

Gone for 4 dyas and come back to this Noise patch... <Sigh> What guy thought it'd be a good idea to change the recipe of Coke?

Unless I missed a poll somewhere asking about a vote for a sound change.. but I doubt it.
