yup, the sounds are great but the volume needs some fine tuning.

I like the new sounds.
PPC's sound has more of a rumble to it, like thunder.
AC5 sounds more explosive and some of that odd "boink" noise is muffel'd out.
the others just sound bigger as well as muffled as if you were sitting in a tightly closed cockpit.

I will say though I like the old sound of the AC10 better. It had a nice "crack" to it.

Overall, Good job Devs!

The new enviroment sounds are nice but I think they need to be turned up a bit.

So I was checking the MWO forum to see what's being said about this sound bug, waiting for a patch thursday or maybe friday, preparing myself to stop playing for few days because it's absolutely unbearable and it hurt my ear (both the volume and the actual sound), and what did I learn? It's a designed feature!

You can't be serious.

The new sounds are great and, more importantly, I like the direction of realism and immersion that this patch starts. Please do more of this!

1. Volume: Please add a slider for weapons volume. Some people want it crashing loud and some want it muffled. You will never find a middle ground that all players will like on this feature. Sound is very personal. Weapons effects need a slider.

2. Lasers need a sound buff too. You probably have it planned for a later patch. Personally Im not a fan of the current weak-sounding lasers. They sound limp and generically sci fi. Id like to hear them with loud powerful searing burst with a cracking snap before and after followed by thundering echos. Im not a fan of the starwarsy pew sound for MWO. (SW has darts that travel so the doppler affect of their pew is fine. MWO uses beams.)

3. Map sounds: I like the new sounds THANKS! Id like to see more layers of this. Maybe for Frozen City can have blizzard wind sounds, cracking and falling glacier ice, deep underground cryogenic creaking, and the rasping of wind blown ice crystals on the cockpit windows. I love the sounds for River City.. I spent alot of time enjoying the far off explosions and missiles / aircraft streaming overhead.

Anyway, its great to hear new sounds. Well done! More please.

I liked the old sounds better. There is too much static now, maybe you wanted it to sound more realistic or something but the old sounds were much more pleasant aesthetically.

Now ppc sounds like medieval ballista. Not like a lightning gun, as it was before.

Unfortunately, it makes the game sound like a muddy mass of random noises and takes away any positional references for me.

Absolutely agree too.

It would be great if any dev can comment if it's possible to at least let us choose the old sound effects in options if we can't revert back to the old sounds? I've gone back to playing Borderlands 2 instead, because my ears don't want to suffer this onslaught of noise.

I submitted a ticket and did not even get the usual useless reply. Their silence is more deafening than the weapon sounds.

I'm leaning towards this being a tuning bug with the reverb / acoustic properties. I played some 50+ matches last might, and I think I can hear what they were trying to do. It just got lost in some bad positional / environmental values. Probably a simple fix.

On the other hand, I realised the real problem while I was playing. PGI stealth equipped all our mechs with giant tennis rackets. When you fire an AC round, its actually being propelled by a grand slam.

That or trampoline. Once you hear this, you can never unhear it. SPROING!

at first i thought i like em. the LBX sounds like a blunderbuss, wich was funny and better then the old one. but then i realized that nearly all weapons sounded more tincanny... theyre to pitched and the highs are too distorted... i have a teufel 5.1 soundsystem and the game sounds like i got 20years old 15$ speakers...

especially the autocannons need to be more bassy.

if u are in a hellish fight with 5+ mechs, its like someone is playing a rattled snaredrum, cymbal and hi-hat solo...

The new sounds remind me of sfx I heard in video games from the 90s...

They feel like they are mixed for last decade's gaming, not that realistic and the quality is poor..

There is too much distortion, horribly mixed, NOISY  sounds like they were made using kitchen utensils..

I don't like PPC. Starting sounds sounds really bad IMO. It reminds me of something but can't remember what.

Didn't hear other sounds.
