Quote

- Critical Heat Damage System.
- Mechs reaching 120% heat will start taking damage to their center torso at (0.75 damage + (0.001 damage per tonne) + (0.001 damage per engine rating)) / 1.5 sec.
- The damage will continue until heat drops below 100%. This damage will occur both during an automatic shutdown and when overriding shutdown.
- To indicate this heat damage is being applied, a yellow siren light will turn on inside the cockpit.

Basically, noobs are now no longer allowed to boat PPCs. Only pro 4 PPC Stalkers, who never overheated in the first place, may boat them and own all your faces.

Its like they're trying to prove they don't think their patches through.

Boating fixes aint in yet. Combine that with overheat penalties and come back and complain then.

Besides why should someone who knows how to play and manages heat well be penalised.
You're complaining about overheat penalties and also people who manage heat and never overheat? Wut?

Think your whining through before you hit post.

I'm reserving criticism for when the boating changes come in and see how that plays with this new overheating penalty,

You mean the dumbest anti boating system ever published on this website or possibly committed to the written word that does absolutely nothing about snipers while punishing already underpowered builds?????

That one??

You've missed the entire point.

We're not asking for people who manage heat to be penalised.

We're pointing out that this 'fix' which was directly intended to attempt to fix boating, namely boating of high heat weapons, aka PPCs, only punishes poor users of PPCs.

The players who are good with PPCs will never encounter this problem. They are the ones that are basically singlehandedly steamrolling everyone right now.

So its a fix that completely missed the point, hence I'm not sure why they even bothered in the first place.

No the one we know nothing about, no confirmation or firm numbers.

Good one making assumptions.

How about you reserve that whine until its released and we see the numbers. I give you permission to cut n paste that when it comes out.

I agree with you though - IF they keep those example numbers, particularly with the smaller beam weapons that's a bad decision. But we'll see.

Uhhh, Paul posted about it. The forums raged. Nothing was said. I'd assume that's the one they're doing.

http://mwomercs.com/...-idea-is-awful/

That should provide the cliff notes version of why it is the dumbest thing anyone has ever written, including a link to the original announcement.

PS: Even if it was never announced, do you really want to preach "patience" on something as simple as a freaking heat system change after nearly two years?

And the really good jump snipers are still jump sniping...because they can.

Complaining because someone is good at the game and can maximize a difficult (relatively) build is just...stupid.

If anything this being here without the boating fix shows they are listening, if it had have gone through with the boat fix and the 150%that was proposed in the 1st place then you would have a case.

Or it means it's not done yet, and it's one of the system Paul cryptically refers to having "ordered done" by the rest of the design team while he was on vacation.

So I bet you anything that pile of crap is either already to go, or nearing readiness to go and we only have the hope that somebody realizes it sucks and everyone hates it to go on.

And i said wait for combined boating and overheat penalties.

Sure a 6 ppc stalker could fire once then probably shutdown or it might take damage after one volley. We wont know until both are in and in sync with each other.

The penalty might be so great that boating would just not be worthwhile or efficient for serious pilots.

Besides if it has the intended effect of culling the noob masses even trying out a ppc boat then thhat cuts down another ppc boat.
I think that a good player would kill you regardless of what he chose.

Again, you've missed the point.

I might as well spell it out here. I play with people I consider the best PPC STK pilots around.

The patch does NOTHING to them. They are still owning face.

This is fine with me.

What is NOT fine, is that a fix was put into place to attempt to solve a problem.

This problem, in my mind, was people going into horrible torrents of QQ and breaking down in the forums crying for nerfs after being PPCed to death.

And now we have said nerf.

Which does absolutely zero to people who were wrecking the crap out of people causing them to QQ in the first place.

With the JJ nerf, at least if somewhat made it difficult to poptart.

This has not made anything difficult. At all.

If your argument is that this is only part 1 of 2, then fine, you're a more patient sort. But I fear any such patience I had was used up in the 'oh, this is only the first part of the missile fix' debacle.

TL;DR

Why PGI put into place hack fix which only makes problem they wanted to fix worse?

So you know the threshold numbers do you?

We all know boating penalties are coming. I'm just saying theres no point in nerdraging about it until we get firm numbers.

They could make the threshold for ML 9 or less or more.

I don't know and sure as **** you dont.

This change ended up punishing the gimmicky 6 PPC silly builds, it did nothing to good high alpha PPC builds like the 4 PPC stalker.

Summed up exactly. Why bother putting in a fix that really didn't fix anything.

At least noob PPC spammers will be less. That's a plus. Cause noob or not, pinpoint 40 damage is still pain.

Not that it took noticeable skill to use PPCs anyway.

What's funny is that I'm seeing a lot of 6 PPC builds tonight, and it doesn't even seem to be phasing them anyway.

So lolz to that.
