I've been following Flying Debris on DA for about a year now, his work always excites me. It's great to see him involved with this. I am so thrilled to hear his artistic take on everything.

I want to see a Highlander concept. D:

Yes please "fix" some of those mechs. I still can't see how mechs like the Stalker can walk, or how something like a King Crab doesn't smear it's pilot on the right and left side of the cockpit when it gets up to waddle/running speed. Not to mention all the mechs that can't seem to torso-twist (good job on the Jenner by the way). Although I don't beleive even you could make a good-looking Yeoman. :)

I can only take this interview as 100% proof that the Timber Wolf will in fact be in the game :)

(yeah yeah, I have to admit to all of the awesomeness also; )

Here's hoping for my Marauder

The cockpit is in a support system apart from the rest of the chassis, maybe? I'm with you about not understanding how some of the 'Mechs can move, let alone walk, as their CG is most obviously not controllable by gyro, and cannot be held, at any great stride, in place by myomers or structure, except to say it's science fiction, hehe.

Challenge the man, why don't'cha, hehe. I've often wondered how many of the 'Mechs were supposed to torso twist, as well. I'm glad it's been addressed in all the MW games to this point, by not allowing them to, but I hope a better solution can be adopted, here, if possible.

For the first time, the Atlas actually look good and something I would love to pilot.

Before, they all looked goofy instead of menacing.

Wow... bringing up furries already and we are barely in the door. Party foul guys. :) Everyone (should) knows you don't bring up 4 things when making introductions:

1)religion
2)politics
3)ex-girl/boyfriends
4)furries

okay... i may have taken some liberties with the list...

All that needs to be said about Furries is all that needs to be said about any other group of people: nothing extraordinary.

Seriously, there's absolutely no reason to denigrate anyone of a certain group just because they're of a certain group.

I've been following FD's stuff for years now - since 2006. I remember finding his Hoplite illustration, just as I was getting back into the battletech universe and learning the tabletop game for the first time. When I also noticed he posted on some of the boards that I frequent, albeit incognito, I was pleasantly surprised. I think there've even been a few times where I've been able to answer some in-universe questions for him (Such as proper selection of Battletech helicopters for firing at furries, but I digress)

For years, I had been pushing on the forums that Catalyst should sign the fellow on to do Battletech stuff; When I'd seen his artwork released in the 25th anniversary artwork book, I was ecstatic. I knew this guy has a veritable midas' touch whenever he puts his stylus to the tablet. A little upsetting to know now that my voice was ignored and it was only a chance encounter at Gencon that sealed the deal, but the ends justify the means, in this case. I can only hope Alex gets a more permanent role with the Tabletop team.

Nice to see someone who knows how to put the Furry Fandom back in their place.

Keep up the good work, I can't wait to see the next batch of concept art.

Ditto. Every Fandom has it's fair share of trolls and genuinely disturbing people.

As long as the reboot designs look like mechs and not suits of powered armour I'll be happy.

Some of those Atlas designs could be taken for an 8' tall powered armour suit.

FlyingDebris always loved your anti-furry stuff and many of your recreations. I would tell you not to change something because it it perfect the way it is, but your prior work speaking for you I will keep my mouth shut and wait to see what you put out (this is very hard to do, so there is a lot of respect here)

So with that said, good luck, it is wonderful to work on something you grew up with is it not, I know the feeling.

Gorgeous work! He's really giving these mech designs the redeco they've so desperately needed.

I started Battletech back in the 1980s (Battletech, 2nd Edition, just after Battledroids!) as a fan of the anime mecha the game had incorporated, and the appeal of those earliest adopted designs - for me - was something that Battletech's mecha art has always lacked until so very recently. So many of Battletech's artists just didn't seem to 'get it'. Alex, happily, absolutely does!
